I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. We had a chicken salad, chicken sandwich and a more elaborate sandwich that had a variety of meat. The service was good as well. I would have given them 5 stars if they had a kids menu. What kind of place has high chairs and no kids menu? It just doesn't make sense. When I asked the lady taking our order if she could do anything for my son (like a side of chicken or veggies) she flat out said "no". Food is great and service was great minus the kids menu part. I've been here twice now, and the food is really solid. The place has been near empty each time I've been, which is a shame. I like that you order at the counter and they bring the food out super fast. The two sandwiches I've had (abq turkey and chicken) were great, and the sides of fruit are huge and great quality. I tried this place for the first time yesterday and it was amazing! My mom and sister took me to lunch here for my birthday and I was so happy they did. I was trying to be good and just order a salad but I saw customers being served their sandwiches and they looked incredible so I had to try one. I was not disappointed! Food was good. However, This place is not kid friendly! They only have one high chair in the whole restaurant. Would probably come here again if they had more High chairs but I don't want to have to hold my son while I eat again. Way overrated! Service is rude! They charge you for everything including more sauce for fries, mind you for their food that needs a little extra help. Hours are limited. We were in town attending AIBF for the first time. We stopped into Oak Tree Cafe right before they were ready to close for the day, but you wouldn't have known it. We were enthusiastically greeted by two people, who we later found out were the owners. We sat and enjoyed our beer, chatted with the owners, and had a great time. Our only regret is that we didn't make it back to eat there before leaving town. Next time we're in Albuquerque, we will be back to patronize this great little place that made us feel right at home! read more

Nice, clean place. Very casual atmosphere which I can compare to a diner vibe. You notice the husband (mostly) and wife owners talking among kitchen staff and customers pretty loudly. Not saying that is a bad thing, just noting that as it's a little different. For me personally it was distracting since there weren't many people in there. The owner bringing out the order was attentive and checked back on us. This is a decent spot for lunch. Most of the fare consists of sandwiches and burgers. I had the Friday fish n chips at dinner time and it was ok but nothing special. The fries were extra saturated in oil and pretty hard. It was a little pricey in my opinion for a paper lined basket and the overall quality. Probably won't return. If dining with children, take note there's no children's menu. read more

Great ambiance, good food. But my problem is that the prices are higher than a single $ dollar sign which us what this restaurant advertises. Sandwiches are $8.50 plus bucks and do not come with a side. The cheapest option is fries which is $2.50 more. So a chicken sandwich with fries is $11+ . A small draft beer is $4. My husband and I ordered to go sandwich's so that we could enjoy eating outside. When opening up my sandwich it was not like I had ordered. I had ordered a ham, cheddar cheese and bread sandwich. Being from CT the original place of the first original hamburger ever made at Lou's Lunch, Crown Street, New Haven. The Best at what they do. Oak Tree Cafe for their Hamburgers with their green chili incredible texture and taste exceptional. The owner, introduced himself asked where we were from, told him from Ct. he was from New York. Went for lunch and ordered a salad that was supposed to have chicken on it. Waitress brought the salad out and told me they were out of chicken! How does a restaurant that has many entrees on it's menu containing chicken run out of it? And it's not even dinner time on a Friday! Waitress offered to bring more lettuce. We've been here twice now since they've relocated to the Alameda location near the Balloon Fiesta Park. We'd never been previously and are so thrilled we tried the Oak Tree! The owner is personable, runs a great place and even remembers your name! The first time we visited he introduced himself to us and we discussed the onion rings. He mentioned they make a Black & Tan onion ring also on certain days. When we returned he remembered us even though it had been a month! He sent an order to our table and they were THE best onion rings we'd ever eaten ~ bar none! Our sandwiches were excellent both times, the staff was very friendly and approachable. The inside of the building has been done very nicely and they have a glass garage type door that opens to allow easy access to the patio seating. I imagine it would be a great place to sit during the Balloon Fiesta as you'd have a wonderful view. We noticed on the chalkboard at the front door that they also have a happy hour. There are great appetizers and most of the sandwiches come with a side of apple coleslaw (just enough apple taste, but not too much), pasta salad - very light and peppery or I think a fruit cup (don't quote me here). Prices were reasonable for the amount of food we got and I think the Oak Tree Cafe is a great addition to this area of town. Try it, you'll like it! read more

So it wasn't the food or drink but the service. I put in my order along with a to go order for my son that was to be started 15 minutes after my order was delivered. It wouldn't have been a big deal except as soon a I ordered the cashier/owner made it clear to me that they were closing early. I told her I had checked the hours online just to be sure they were still open and she said it wasn't worth the time to change hours online but they would only be open for another half hour. I usually sit and have a couple of beers with my meal but felt rushed so I did my best to gobble down my food. Yet, folks kept walking in and ordering so I kept waiting for my to go order. After a while I finally went to check on my to go order to find out that she never placed my order and now they were out of the fish and chips. I check to see if they had charge me but they hadn't but it still pissed me off because now I had to go home empty handed and deal with a hungry family member. I'm updating my review because I was treated poorly considering I'm a regular customer but now I may not be returning if it is such a hassle for the owner to make sure the customer is satisfied and not feeling chased away because they want to close early. If you change your hours, let your customers know or close your door if you don't want customers. read more

Pleasant place for lunch, and service is quick. You order at a counter, serve yourself a drink and seat yourself. They'll reserve a table if you call ahead for a big group. Fries (both sweet potato and regular) are AMAZING, though if you want a salad there are few choices, and if you're vegetarian even fewer entrees (maybe one). read more

The Cobb Salad was excellent and had beautiful presentation. The portion was large and the chicken was tender. The salad came with a slice of French bread with an amazing pesto spread. The atmosphere is cool, they have sports playing and bell at the door is a great touch to let you know how satisfied the patrons are on the way out. read more

Great place! Good menu, walk up to register and order, take number and get your drink. Really clean and good quick service. I love the location of this restaurant because there is nothing on alameda/Jefferson area except a Brewery and Subway. The prices for the sandwiches, warps, burgers and salad were priced good from $6-$10. I got the Al Capone which was amazing and fresh with a macaroni salad. Unlimited refills too. They just got Beer and Wine so they have local brews on draft. There is a patio area so I might try for a happy hour soon. read more

Easy to get to location near the Alameda exit on I-25 and really close to my work. Went with a friend for lunch and it wasn't too busy. Staff was really friendly and took our order quick. I noticed when I was ordering they had some decent craft beers on tap and they have happy hour specials. I ordered the turkey jack sandwich with green chile. It was served on a fresh baguette and the portion was huge! Inside was well kept and clean. I will definitely try this place again. read more

Everything on the menu is great. Sandwiches are not your normal sandwiches. Very tasty and different. Such as the artichoke turkey sandwich. I highly recommend the macaroni salad as a side. read more
