First time trying this place. The sandwich i tried was a veggie wrap. It was excellent and good side of macaroni salad. My daughter had a green chili burger that she really liked. Only problem was my 8 year old granddaughter came with us. They have no children's menu and when we asked if she could have a half order of a sandwich they would not accommodate us. Aug 2025 My favorite thing about this sandwich shop is how much it seems like these owners appreciate the customer. Just quite kind and humble general vibes. Grandpa and I looked at the menu near the entrance, I think at times there must be quite the line just by looking at the setup. I've only been to Oak Tree Cafe once. I happened to be in the area around lunch time and the menu looked good so I stopped in with a co-worker. We'd called the order in so it was boxed and ready when we got there. I liked the variety of the side selections to my chicken sandwich and price point seemed fair. The restaurant was busy so there were only a couple of places to sit inside. It was quick and the Bobby's Chicken Sandwich with macaroni salad I had was good. I love little details like the brand on my bun. Hopefully I'll get to stop in again and try more of the menu. read more

Good food but slow service. I came for lunch, and there was a long line to order food. I was expecting fast service, given they are only open during the lunch hour. The burgers don't come with a side, only the sandwiches, which was odd to me. The burgers also only come in 1/2 lb size, which is too much for me for lunch. I liked the green chile cheese fries, but there may be only enough for one or two servings. I ordered some to go with a burger, and it was definitely a smaller portion. I enjoyed my sandwich and the macaroni salad, but it was nothing amazing, nor did the green chile in the sandwich or fries have any bite or flavor. I may come again to try other menu items, but during the weekend when I have plenty of time to wait for the food to be made. The ambiance was inviting and comfortable. There were clear signs directing guests to follow the path to the order desk and menus. We were cheerfully greeted by the Hostess at the counter who presented us with menus and stated she would be happy to take our order when we were ready also stating, "I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. We ordered a basket of Fried Pickle Slices with a seasoned dip for an appetizer. I ordered a Gucci Sandwich with Fresh Fruit as my Side. My guest ordered a Reuben Sandwich with Macaroni Salad as his Side. We ordered two Self Serve Beverages, for which we were given two drink glasses. The Hostess then gave us a total due and I presented her with a credit card to pay. She promptly processed the card, asked me to sign the receipt and presented us with a receipt and table stand with our order number atop. We selected a table, seated ourselves and unloaded our table stand, flatware and napkins. I stayed seated at the table while my guest took our Drink glasses to the beverage center and filled the glasses with our beverages. I selected a Craft Root Beer, while my guest selected Iced Tea with lemon wedges. The Fried Pickle Slices were lighted battered in a delightful seasoned batter before they were fried. They were perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The dipping sauce was lightly seasoned with the same seasonings as the Pickle slices and blended in a combination of plain yogurt and sour cream. It was a great appetizer. My Gucci Sandwich was sliced turkey breast, crispy fried bacon, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato and mayonnaise. The sandwich was served on a freshly baked Kaiser Bun that was soft and a perfect complement to the exquisite sandwich. The Fresh Fruit consisted of Orange Wedges, Red Grapes, Strawberry, Sliced Pineapple and Sliced Honeydew Melon. The Reuben Sandwich was generously created with lean corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, homemade Thousand Island dressing all served on freshly baked marble rye bread. It was served with a side serving of Macaroni Salad. The Ice Tea was freshly brewed and delicious, with a selection of citrus wedges from which to choose. The Craft Root Beer was a refreshing surprise. It was a premium version on tap that featured a rich creamy flavor and creamy foam. It was very reminiscent of the Root Beer that we made at home in the 50's and 60's. The overall experience was epic and I highly recommend this local treasure! Chances are you may run into me when you visit as I plan to introduce many of my "Foodie friends" to this delightful discovery. We are very blessed in North East Albuquerque! read more

We spotted this cafe on our way back from the balloon museum nearby. I'm SO glad we stopped in for lunch! My husband and I ordered chef salads and bottled water. The team was very friendly with ordering and service very efficient. The salads had fresh greens, red bell pepper, shredded carrot and cheese, onion, sliced hard boiled egg, plentiful turkey and ham deli meat- really good! There was a delicious small piece of toasted bread with a yummy pesto spread- just the right size! I appreciated the ability to choose the dressing. I love ranch but opted for the healthier balsamic vinaigrette. They have a central table marked as a community table. I thought that was a nice feature. I hope people take advantage of it. We ran into George, a very friendly team member, in our way out. We made sure to tell him how much we enjoyed our lunch. He shared that this cafe is family- owned, in business since 1985! How great! I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing! The service is good. My favorite is the barbecue burger. I love the Branded bun it gives it a great flavor. You need to get there early because it fills up quick. There is open seating and it is nice inside. Sometimes parking is a little difficult because the Lots fill up fast at lunch time. We did take-out for an office lunch meeting. There was 5 of us, and our boss likes to complicate his order, but they nailed it and got everything correct! Nothing missing, and extra specifications were all met. The food was okay, just not what I had hoped for. I got the Taos with O rings and thought it was meh. I didn't get anything special from it, and the flavor/seasoning just lacked somewhat. I wasn't a big fan of the roast beef that way, but I was also confused(my fault) at what I ordered. The rings were good, and would've been great if they were still hot. That's not their fault either as it was a togo meal, but I would definitely re-order them! I am going to come back and give it another chance for a dine-in visit, but I will definitely find another menu item to try! read more

Upon searching the owners name, it's Robert Carson. That's just an fyi for those who want to frequent a business that cares about customer service. This place has been on our list forever and we finally got a chance to give it a try. So sorry that we waited so long. It is a fun atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. You order at the counter and then choose a seat. Seating is plentiful and there are also spaces at the counter. Service was great and we never wanted for anything. The sandwiches were absolutely wonderful. Obviously all fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. The star of the show here is the french fries. Everyone loves french fries but you cannot begin to understand how amazing these are. They have a bit of seasoning and crisp on the outside and are super soft on the inside. I've been meaning to write this for a while now. I love this place. Everything I have had here has been really good. From the green chile cheeseburger to the Ruben to the sweet potato fries. My favorite though is the Harvest salad which is a special they run. Such a great salad with fresh chicken, walnuts , cranberries and feta cheese. I could eat it every day. As someone with a bunch of family in Tallahassee, walking in and seeing a sign that says "Go Noles" outside the door made me really want to like this place; however, it was just ehh. Great place for a lunch break! I come here often for my lunch break. They have delicious sandwiches and wraps. I must confess I have yet to try a hamburger. Mainly because I've been with people who have ordered them and they are huge. So big. So I stick with something lighter that I can (mostly) finish and not have to bring back to work with me. I don't want a food coma while at work! I've been told they are really yummy. The burgers don't come with a side, but you can order french fries separately. Sides options for sandwiches and wraps are macaroni salad, ruffle potato chips, apple slaw, and fruit. I've tried all the sides except the fruit (due to allergies). The ruffle chips are just that. Apple slaw wasn't my thing. The macaroni salad is alright so that's usually what I get. I normally eat that last if I am still hungry. The sandwiches and wraps are the true stars here! Someday I will go on a Friday for their Fish Fry Friday special, which is fish and chips. They also have Happy Hour 11-8 on Fridays. Tip: Grab a menu and then head to the counter to order. Stopped in for a sandwich today and it was excellent. It was warm, and the bread was nice and soft. They have outdoor covered seating and the service was great and pretty darn fast.
