I was given a recommendation to visit the Oak Tree Cafe and I was finally able to visit. I got their fried banana peppers and they were amazing overall. They were a little salty and the dipping sauce could've used a little sour cream or cream and some fresh lime juice but would definitely get them again. I also got the turkey raspberry chipotle wrap and it was good, too. My one little critique on it was that I didn't really taste raspberry in it and it was a little watery, but again something I would get again. They have a few other items that I'd love to try, so I will be back soon. read more

First time trying this place. The sandwich i tried was a veggie wrap. It was excellent and good side of macaroni salad. My daughter had a green chili burger that she really liked. Only problem was my 8 year old granddaughter came with us. They have no children's menu and when we asked if she could have a half order of a sandwich they would not accommodate us. This place should consider the needs of families with children. read more

This place is fun loved the soda fountain went with cherry soda. I'm on the hunt for new Philly cheesesteak spot and they did a great job for the Friday special. I saw other tables with au jus just for their hamburgers wish I were offered some but I'll ask next time. The owner was very nice and made sure everything came out tasty. My pops enjoyed his burger. We rang the bell as it was a great lunch! Will be back! read more

Aug 2025 My favorite thing about this sandwich shop is how much it seems like these owners appreciate the customer. Just quite kind and humble general vibes. Grandpa and I looked at the menu near the entrance, I think at times there must be quite the line just by looking at the setup. But for us there was no wait:) Sandwiches were very delicious and soda fountain was local (I think) options. Gramp was hoping for diet DP but I quite liked the unique options! I've only been to Oak Tree Cafe once. I happened to be in the area around lunch time and the menu looked good so I stopped in with a co-worker. We'd called the order in so it was boxed and ready when we got there. I liked the variety of the side selections to my chicken sandwich and price point seemed fair. The restaurant was busy so there were only a couple of places to sit inside. It was quick and the Bobby's Chicken Sandwich with macaroni salad I had was good. I love little details like the brand on my bun. Hopefully I'll get to stop in again and try more of the menu. read more

Good food but slow service. I came for lunch, and there was a long line to order food. I was expecting fast service, given they are only open during the lunch hour. The burgers don't come with a side, only the sandwiches, which was odd to me. The burgers also only come in 1/2 lb size, which is too much for me for lunch. I liked the green chile cheese fries, but there may be only enough for one or two servings. I ordered some to go with a burger, and it was definitely a smaller portion. I enjoyed my sandwich and the macaroni salad, but it was nothing amazing, nor did the green chile in the sandwich or fries have any bite or flavor. I may come again to try other menu items, but during the weekend when I have plenty of time to wait for the food to be made. I wish they had more local taps as well and open for dinner hours to come by after work. read more

The ambiance was inviting and comfortable. There were clear signs directing guests to follow the path to the order desk and menus. We were cheerfully greeted by the Hostess at the counter who presented us with menus and stated she would be happy to take our order when we were ready also stating, "I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. We ordered a basket of Fried Pickle Slices with a seasoned dip for an appetizer. I ordered a Gucci Sandwich with Fresh Fruit as my Side. My guest ordered a Reuben Sandwich with Macaroni Salad as his Side. We ordered two Self Serve Beverages, for which we were given two drink glasses. The Hostess then gave us a total due and I presented her with a credit card to pay. She promptly processed the card, asked me to sign the receipt and presented us with a receipt and table stand with our order number atop. We selected a table, seated ourselves and unloaded our table stand, flatware and napkins. I stayed seated at the table while my guest took our Drink glasses to the beverage center and filled the glasses with our beverages. I selected a Craft Root Beer, while my guest selected Iced Tea with lemon wedges. The Fried Pickle Slices were lighted battered in a delightful seasoned batter before they were fried. They were perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. The dipping sauce was lightly seasoned with the same seasonings as the Pickle slices and blended in a combination of plain yogurt and sour cream. It was a great appetizer. My Gucci Sandwich was sliced turkey breast, crispy fried bacon, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato and mayonnaise. The sandwich was served on a freshly baked Kaiser Bun that was soft and a perfect complement to the exquisite sandwich. The Fresh Fruit consisted of Orange Wedges, Red Grapes, Strawberry, Sliced Pineapple and Sliced Honeydew Melon. The Reuben Sandwich was generously created with lean corned beef, sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, homemade Thousand Island dressing all served on freshly baked marble rye bread. It was served with a side serving of Macaroni Salad. The Ice Tea was freshly brewed and delicious, with a selection of citrus wedges from which to choose. The Craft Root Beer was a refreshing surprise. It was a premium version on tap that featured a rich creamy flavor and creamy foam. It was very reminiscent of the Root Beer that we made at home in the 50's and 60's. The overall experience was epic and I highly recommend this local treasure! Chances are you may run into me when you visit as I plan to introduce many of my "Foodie friends" to this delightful discovery. We are very blessed in North East Albuquerque! read more

A hamburger you will love, especially if, like me, you don't particularly like hamburgers. Lots of other sandwiches, too (but no BLT). The meat is angus beef brought in daily and never frozen. The burgers are big, and OTC (as they prefer to call this place) will cook them medium for you. That is a big plus in my book because it means that you can get a reasonably lean burger that is also very juicy and tasty. Are you listening, Five Guys? The green chile at OTC is always plenty piquante (that's a fancy word for HOT). You add your own condiments. Their pickles are so good and crunchy that I am suspicious they might be made in-house. Your hamburger bun will come with the OTC initials grilled into the top. The buns are high quality and add to the hamburger experience. No dissolving buns at OTC. You get your choice of sides. I always pick the fruit cup as it contains at least one large piece of fresh pineapple or watermelon, making the other bits and pieces much more pleasing. Service starts when you order at the counter. Then the trusty staff makes your stuff and brings it out to your table. They have several beers on tap and more in the bottle, but I drink either water or Dr Pepper with my burgers just like the Texans I grew up with. read more

We spotted this cafe on our way back from the balloon museum nearby. I'm SO glad we stopped in for lunch! My husband and I ordered chef salads and bottled water. The team was very friendly with ordering and service very efficient. The salads had fresh greens, red bell pepper, shredded carrot and cheese, onion, sliced hard boiled egg, plentiful turkey and ham deli meat- really good! There was a delicious small piece of toasted bread with a yummy pesto spread- just the right size! I appreciated the ability to choose the dressing. I love ranch but opted for the healthier balsamic vinaigrette. They have a central table marked as a community table. I thought that was a nice feature. I hope people take advantage of it. We ran into George, a very friendly team member, in our way out. We made sure to tell him how much we enjoyed our lunch. He shared that this cafe is family- owned, in business since 1985! How great! I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing! The service is good. My favorite is the barbecue burger. I love the Branded bun it gives it a great flavor. You need to get there early because it fills up quick. There is open seating and it is nice inside. Sometimes parking is a little difficult because the Lots fill up fast at lunch time. The wraps are very good. The salads are great. They even have tap beer! They have a bell you can ring on your way out to let them know what was great. The Bell Rings a lot! read more

I have been to the Oak Street Cafe twice. Their Monte Hall is terrific, as is their chicken sandwich. And, as strange as it may sound, their macaroni salad was easily the best I have ever had. We did take-out for an office lunch meeting. There was 5 of us, and our boss likes to complicate his order, but they nailed it and got everything correct! Nothing missing, and extra specifications were all met. The food was okay, just not what I had hoped for. I got the Taos with O rings and thought it was meh. I didn't get anything special from it, and the flavor/seasoning just lacked somewhat. I wasn't a big fan of the roast beef that way, but I was also confused(my fault) at what I ordered. The rings were good, and would've been great if they were still hot. That's not their fault either as it was a togo meal, but I would definitely re-order them! I am going to come back and give it another chance for a dine-in visit, but I will definitely find another menu item to try! read more

I came back to drop off a single star because I just noticed that a Robert C. laugh reacted at my negative review, which was bizarre because it wasn't funny. Upon searching the owners name, it's Robert Carson. That's just an fyi for those who want to frequent a business that cares about customer service. After the laugh react he appears to have immediately blocked me, which is why my screenshot does not show a photo. Now that we've had a bad experience, I've spoken with several people in my building who feel the same. And rather than accepting the feedback, they find it funny. This place has been on our list forever and we finally got a chance to give it a try. So sorry that we waited so long. It is a fun atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door. You order at the counter and then choose a seat. Seating is plentiful and there are also spaces at the counter. Service was great and we never wanted for anything. The sandwiches were absolutely wonderful. Obviously all fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. The star of the show here is the french fries. Everyone loves french fries but you cannot begin to understand how amazing these are. They have a bit of seasoning and crisp on the outside and are super soft on the inside. I would go back just for these fries. Do yourself a favor and have lunch at this spot. You will not be disappointed! read more

Total disappointment. We work close by and ate there often. Normally food and service are very good. Not today. We ordered the Tuna Plate. Pineapple was bruised and slimy. Cantaloupe was not ripe. Tuna was mostly mayo (and did not taste like tuna!). Had more macaroni salad than tuna. There is no accommodation for to go orders. You have to wait in a long line to get your food and go. Not a pleasant experience. Not going back. read more

Great good, quick service. Mom and I had salads--very large with lots of "stuff." I like the green chile ranch--not too hot. My dad loved his green chile philly. Only downside is no GF options (except salad.) PS--don't overlook the pesto. It's one of the best things in that place. I dream about spreading it on GF toast! read more

I've been meaning to write this for a while now. I love this place. Everything I have had here has been really good. From the green chile cheeseburger to the Ruben to the sweet potato fries. My favorite though is the Harvest salad which is a special they run. Such a great salad with fresh chicken, walnuts , cranberries and feta cheese. I could eat it every day. Janet, the owner is normally at the counter and she knows just about everyone. Nicest person! Everyone is always friendly and the atmosphere is always positive. read more

I just ate the most delicious California chicken salad - chicken melted in my mouth. They made the best green chile cheese fries I have ever tasted! My son ate a delicious burger and fries. Highly recommend . They serve only lunch and we will be back many more times. read more

We are in town for the Albuquerque Ballroon Fiesta and stopped at Oak Tree Cafe for lunchx What a delightful meal. My husband at the Oak Tree Combo and I ate the Al Capone sandwich. As someone with a bunch of family in Tallahassee, walking in and seeing a sign that says "Go Noles" outside the door made me really want to like this place; however, it was just ehh. Ordered a guacamole burger with a side of sweet potato fries for lunch and it was just average. The burger was good, but everything tasted like something I bought at the store and made myself on a backyard grill (but the guacamole was kind of bland). I was immediately impressed by the staff. you couldn't ask for better care and warmth. we participated in any activities that were offered and made new and lasting friendships along the way. thru those years there were difficult times. I guess the most difficult was the pandemic when we were limited to movement within the building but you would be amazed attn lengths the staff went to to keep us happy. delicious meals were delivered to our door ( we ordered from our menu's ). Games were played at each door if you wanted to participate and there were fun prizes. The weekly wine socials were brought to your door. Meanwhile, all the necessary health precautions were taken. The apartments were thoroughly cleaned weekly. When necessary, immunization clinics were brought to each resident and if you wanted to participate, they made it easy. Eventually that passed and life got back to normal but it's hard not to recognize the professional handling of that difficult time. The building was renovated and mad lovely for us. If anything needed to be updated, it was life moved along smoothly and I must admit, to my surprise. There were many staff changes but amazingly, the staff remained warm and caring. Deep down, I can forget that they are dealing with many different personalities and sometimes elderly people can be a tad grumpy. The loving staff simply overlooks the bad days. Food is always an issue but the menu is large with choices for everyone. If that isn't enough, there's a really great Bistro you don't want to mis. The activities are numerous and year round. Entertainment is provided on a regular basis and outings take place twice a week. All you have to do is signup. I can't close this without mentioning that my husband passed away in 2022. it was a difficult time made easier by the Fairwinds staff and especially the management. Being100% deaf and disabled, my family wanted me to move to assisted living despite my reluctance. Doralei warmly helped me make that decision to move and very graciously helped me find a comfortable apartment. The move was smooth and the golden treatment given by the health and Wellness staff has been perfect so I have to admit that it was the proper move. When I need appointments, the transportation service is wonderful and I can't forget to mention the wonderful drivers. Do you see how fortunate I furl that all those years ago, we made the decision to move here it was the perfect one. You can't go wrong.

I cannot definitively say race played a role in how we were treated, but given the stark difference in service between our table and the couple seated after us, I would be dishonest if I said the thought didn't cross my mind. We eventually got up and left. Good food reviews mean very little if certain guests can sit at a table while staff repeatedly walk past them as though they aren't there. Whether this was discrimination, poor training, or simply terrible service, the experience was unacceptable and left us feeling completely unwelcome. We came prepared to spend our money and enjoy dinner. Instead, Sixty Six Acres made it very easy for us to take our business elsewhere.

Been going to this place for a quite a while and never ever been disappointed. The staff are all very welcoming and always made my experience highly enjoyable. They are willing to assist you with anything you need while also thanking you for your business. Food comes out in timely manner and is always fresh but if you're ever in a rush they happily offer a take-out option. Their menu has a wide range of things to try from burgers, salads, wraps, burgers, and chicken sandwiches so I suggest to try it all! My favorite items to get are the Extreme Sandwich, the Tortilla Burger, and the Monty Hall Sandwich if you're looking for any first-time suggestions. Daily specials are offered and change from day to day so always keep a look out for those (amazing Fish n' Chips offered on Fridays!). Very clean place with a cozy and unique atmosphere. Well, I'm laughing at Merica P's report. I was at the table next to her. She was there with two children who made the most mess on the floor I have ever seen at the Oak Tree. I saw the owner have words with her regarding the mess. It turned into an argument with some man who was with Merica wanting to fight the owner. Merica P's review is pure fantasy and simply a case of sour grapes for being called out over the mess she and her children made. I have eaten at the Oak Tree many times and the Chicken is the freshest ever, the fries come right out of the fryer and taken to the customer. There is no warming area for fries. They are fresh out of the fryer. It's a shame some bad people find some joy in bad mouthing a business because of making an extreme mess in an adult friendly clean restaurant. Do not even by accident, ever leave a personal belonging here even if your regular. Unfortunately I will no longer be a regular here anymore. Left my glasses there called to make sure and husband said yeah they had them and would save them. Went back the very next day and wife said she could not find where she put them and misplaced them. Kept making excuses saying maybe there were never there even though over the phone they said they had them and would save them. After days they did not turn up. Super disappointed in this place because I really did enjoy eating here. The wife was not even apologetic or nothing for not placing them in a save spot. read more

It infuriates me when a customer like Rosalía, who was so rude to these beautiful people here at Oak tree. Do not listen to her review. This Rosalie girl is crazy! My recommendations coming here the best Reuben sandwich in the whole city, but add green chili, the Monty sandwich is like a go to, the extreme sandwich is amazingly extreme! I explained to the person taking our order that I have a gluten allergy and asked about the ingredients in both items, as well as what precautions they take when preparing gluten-free sandwiches. Unfortunately, he really didn't have a clue. He had no idea about any thing I was asking. He did say everything is prepared in the same area and that the sandwiches all go into the same oven/toaster together. I was really disappointed to hear this. It's frustrating, simply offering gluten-free bread doesn't make an item safe for people who medically need to avoid gluten. The employee taking our order had no idea what cross-contamination precautions meant when I asked about them. After asking several questions, I decided that the Not'Chos seemed like my safest option. I was told they are placed in the oven on their own paper, so although I was still hesitant, I decided to give them a try. Unfortunately, I became sick shortly after eating them. My husband and daughter enjoyed their food, so I can't speak negatively about the food in general. However, based on my experience, I definitely would not recommend this place to anyone with celiac disease, a gluten allergy, or anyone who needs to strictly avoid gluten. I really hope they consider providing better employee training and putting proper cross-contact precautions in place, since they are advertising gluten-free options.
