Just came for the cheesecake! Homemade and had several varieties with rotating flavors (pumpkin, pistachio, banana pudding, Nutella, lemon, cherry, and also selling pumpkin rolls and chocolate cake). I ended up getting the "slutty" one with brownie, oreo, and cookie dough- so good. You can tell it was homemade and made with lots of love (around $10). Love home cooking? Love cheesecakes? If the answer is yes to both you found your place. Located in a strip mall, city limits goes beyond its limits. Customer service was fantastic. Order upfront and they bring it to you. We had the meatloaf and banana cheesecake. Meatloaf was a home cooked meal with outstanding mashed potatoes. No additional seasoning needed. We got some information that Albuquerque City Limits had the best green chile burger in town and we went to taste for ourselves with some friends. First, this is truly in the city limits, far away from us. The decor tells me this place has been serving people for a long time, since 1999, without looking run down. It was welcoming, in fact! I was surprised that the place evolved to a casual dining format. The people behind the counter were very helpful and kind! It added even more to the welcoming vibe and feeling of this place. The menu had a lot of options and we saw a few good ones before ordering. However, we were here for this green chile burgers so we stuck to our mission. We got some variants though. One of our friends and I ordered the unaltered green chile cheeseburger with bun and fries. The hubby ordered the Abq. stalker, which has guacamole. One of our friends ordered it with flour tortilla and chile cheese fries with red and green chile. And because this was our first time, we got free natillas. The green chile cheeseburger was a decent burger, decently sized, and quite filling for big appetites. The bun gives a nice flavor and texture with the sesame seeds. The flour tortilla can help it be more manageable to eat and finish. The green chile was ok, but not spicy. The patty was well done, and therefore, had little flavor. The guacamole was also ok, but lacked some flavor and made the burger quite messy. The chile cheese fries do give regular fries an extra kick with the salsas. Unfortunately, I could not eat my natilla because custard does not agree with me, but everyone at the table liked the cinnamon mixed with the custard dessert. Overall, the place and people attending this business were the highlight of this visit! They were welcoming and felt like a truly family business. The food was ok, but did need more flavor. We just completed a two week drive across country from Washington state to Virginia with tons of stops in between. We probably sampled about 3 dozen restaurants throughout that time with various meals. We ate at high end steak houses and hidden away dive bars. We enjoyed many different food genres including probably 5-6 Mexican/Southwestern themed restaurants. Some of the meals were incredible and some were incredibly disappointing. None came close to the PERFECTION of what we ate at Albuquerque City Limits!! Located to the west of the city center, this restaurant holds a pretty unassuming looking exterior in a suburban strip mall. You don't walk in the door expecting to eat the best meal of the year. But here we are! I had the green chili chicken enchilada platter- and I know the picture looks delicious, but trust me, it tastes even better. My daughter has chicken tacos and loves hers. The beans that accompany the platters are freaking amazing, seasoned perfectly. The rice is super tasty and flavorful. The green chile is obviously going to be great, being from Albuquerque. The plates come with a fresh, warm sopaipilla and honey. As a nice special treat, they give a free bowl of natillas to every first time visitor! Price wise, this restaurant is beyond fair. Service? Great friendly service! Have been going here for about 20 years! It never disappoints! Always a ton of parking due to the big lot. It was nice and cool inside, especially due to how hot it is outside in this Abq summer.... This last visit, I found heaven in a cheesecake! I LOVE banana pudding.... And recently tried the banana pudding cheesecake and was blown away away! This is hands down THE BEST cheesecake I've ever had!!! I had been wanting to stop by ABQ City Limits for a long time, but never had a good chance to do so until this past weekend that put my in this vicinity at a right time. Mind you, I was hungry and had been running around all day without anything to eat...so by dinner time, I was HUNGRY!! All I could think of was...great homemade cheesecake that I had seen from ABQ City Limits once I realized I would be nearby the area at the end of the day! I stopped by ABQ City Limits and was greeted by a friendly lady (daughter of the owner) promptly. I ordered a pistachio cheesecake that I had been eyeing..and wanted to order something savory to eat properly before chowing down on my dessert. I was glad they offered "kids" meal options,,..which..I gladly chose meatloaf...in my mind...was not really for small kids!! It's hugeee!! Now, the desserts..my eyes are always bigger than my stomach. So it wasn't a surprise that I ended up getting THREE HUGEEE homemade cheesecake slices to try: pistachio, cotton candy and banana pudding! These cakes were heaven...and I had plenty of leftover to take back and savor at home! I loved the friendly service (the owners were friendly and laidback). I got the Drizzle Cheesecake and pistachio cheesecake! Service was quick and friendly. Both were amazing but definitely the drizzle was my favorite! HUGE slices, I ate on them for 5 days, finished my last bites today they are a family owned business and the cheese cakes are made by their daughter at Desert Rose Cheesecakery. I was told long ago that I had to go get something to eat from this place and holy moly were they right! This place is a gem! The people here were so nice I didn't think I was in Albuquerque anymore lol. I ordered an alb stacker for me and my kid but one with a bun and the other on a sopapilla. They were large 1/2lb burgers with bacon, guacamole, green chile and cheese. The burgers are hand pressed and the chile is made fresh daily. It is incredibly good! I had some red chile cheese fries and red chile can be hit or miss in some places but here it was old fashioned goodness! We were given free natillas for it being our first time here and my little mini foodie partner will agree that this place is in the top 5 burger places I've been to in Albuquerque. They even have a rewards program here where you can earn free food just by eating here. I love this place and wished it was a little closer to home. Definitely two thumbs up from me and my mini me!!! The food was decent, except one in our party ordered chicken enchiladas and said it seemed like just filling without tortillas (the enchilada filling was plenteous with good flavor, but never 'found' the texture or additional taste normally present from the tortillas). My wife and I keep an ongoing list of local places that we need to try to help support local business. Today, we visited Albuquerque City Limit Restaurant on the northwest corner of Coors and Rio Bravo. I had the red chile enchiladas and they were delicious. My wife had the cheese burger and fries and they were tasty. The food was made from scratch and really good. First time guests get free natillas (homemade pudding) which are also made from scratch. I've been here on numerous occasions with the work fam, but to be quite honest it kind of fell off our radar. Why you ask? That I really cannot say. This day, myself and one of the work fam found the office empty. Others snuck off to eat without us or were off doing actual work things! This place is super cute and oh so homey inside. It's a family run business with family values written all over it. The service is always friendly and sincere. The food is quality home cooking. They offer burgers and new mexican dishes. I am a huge fan of their burgers and red chile. Matter of fact we all got burgers. You can have them with a regular bun or opt for the tortilla or sopapilla version. Their patties are generously portioned and cooked just right. I would gladly opt for a burger from here than any fast food place any day. And you know me, I am rarely, ever in the mood for a burger. They only thing I failed on, horribly, I forgot to ask for a side of red chile with my burger! Whomp! I did happily get it with sopa style! Boy did it hit the spot! I felt slightly piggish after but I was surely content. Come for their burgers and don't forget the red chile. Although, I was told the green chile was good too. Hot and good flavor! So go either way, or throw some christmas on that shit! Side Note: They also do a frequent buyer card so you can earn your way to a free meal! Telling me the green chili burger and the meatloaf are her two top sellers, I chose the burger. Huge. Perfectly seasoned. Delicious green chiles. Crisp lettuce and ripe tomatoes. Salt and peppery steak fries served along with it. A fork and knife burger. Totally worth the calories. And then first time customers receive a complimentary serving of natillas - a custard made from a centuries old family recipe. Served warm, not too sweet, creamy. Yum! This is my second time ordering from this place but my BF is a regular here. We called in our order both times and we usually have to describe what we want to the lady who answered. The second time my BF ordered 2 Chicken Burgers (which also meant a Chicken Sandwich on Burger Buns) and the lady didnt understand. It is common sense that if you work there, you should know what you are serving and whats on your menu. He had to describe what the sandwich looked like in order for her to understand. This was a to-go order. The order came with a side of fries and a pickle spear. The grilled Chicken Sandwich was packed with 3 tomato slices that slides right off when you bite into it and raw onion slices with shredded lettuce. The tomatoes soaked half of the buns and i dont like having wet buns. I had to remove 2 tomatoes so I could eat it to its entirety. I wasnt impressed. The chicken was a little dry itself. It lacked some sort of mayo or dressing due to its blandness. The steak fries were the only thing that I finished. The BF ate the rest of my sandwich on top of his. Thats cause he asked for ranch dressing and then smeared it inside both sandwiches. Just wondering why this place has a 4 star rating. I dont know if its me or if Im ordering the wrong items from the menu?? Just an update review: When we order now, we call it "Sandwich" not "Chicken Burger" to avoid confusion.....Their Chicken Sandwiches have improved now. This was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had. I'm in Albuquerque on business and always like to experience local independent businesses. I came on a Saturday afternoon about 4. I was the only customer at the time. Talked with the owners daughter who recommended the burger on a sopapilla with green chilies and guacamole. She also let me try the posoles. The desserts looked wonderful, but I was stuffed after eating the burger. Her sister makes all the cheesecakes, so I brought back the pumpkin, drizzle and pumpkin roll for treats the rest of the week. Had the pumpkin roll and it was delicious. Still haven't tried the cheesecake, but I'm sure it will be wonderful. They all made me feel like part of the family. Please support small businesses, especially this one! read more

I will say the staff at City Limits are very friendly and helpful. Nice place to eat when you are craving a big juicy chile cheese burger and get it with bacon. Great burger. We were there the other night and both my wife and I ordered the chicken fried steak. I was a little disappointed because I was expecting something a little bit better. Don't get me wrong I ate everything on my plate. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it an 8. Try the meatloaf, yes they put green chile on it and it's great. This is just like Austin City Limits, except for the music, and the audience, and the um... Well, it's exactly nothing like Austin City Limits. Well, it's like Rod Stewart playing Austin City Limits. A little past his prime, not exactly a show I want to see, but still worth watching. Which, in the case of this restaurant, translates to food that doesn't really tempt my tastebuds but, ya know, it's chile and red meat and those sopaipillas never fail to make my belly purr. Other reviews definitely nail the friendly service atmosphere. I was pretty impressed with the groove these guys struck, managing the register, prepping and bouncing to and from the kitchen. Still, there's no perfect formula for order-at-the-counter, so if you arrive during a rush you will wait in line. Order-at-the-counter also places you at the mercy of whomever stands directly in front of you; places like this, with large menus and plenty of options, almost beg for crowds of indecisive patrons with a lot of time on their hands. Enough with picking on everyday people. The dining choices are Old Schoole and the green chile is kickin'. Burgers, enchiladas, home style eats that pack it on, smothered in friendly tradition. We were really unimpressed with the chicken here, insanely dry and bland, but hey, what were we doing ordering chicken? That's like getting waffles at the House of Pancakes. This is kind of a cool little local restaurant that's tucked away in a strip mall on the West Mesa. It's family owned and operated and they are very friendly and accommodating to their customers. Their ordering system is slightly odd but - you're eventually fed. Their serving sizes are generous, their prices are fair and their burgers, fries are Mexican options are really good. It's also a clean little restaurant. I'll recommend them. Having not been in for awhile, we just ordered their comfort food options. The hamburger steak lunch with mashed potatoes, gravy, grilled onions and 2 garden salads to go. We also ordered the large Green Chile Stew with flour tortillas. I've got to tell ya, their stew wasn't half bad! While I am a Chef, there are few dishes that I believe I make extremely well. Green Chilie Stew is one of them. This was certainly a good one.
