I was tasked to bring dessert(s) to a bbq. I was told "Something chocolate". In typical fashion, Yelp to the rescue. Tap in O'side Bakery! I walked in about 30 minutes to closing and to my surprise the treat case was still pretty stocked. I chose a variety of cheesecake slices, chocolate mousse cups, crème Brule, mousse cake, and a brownie. If I had to pick a least favorite, I'm not a fan of ganache or frosting on a brownie. The Brule was one of the best I've had and the mousse was fantastic. The cheese cakes were rich and creamy with a perfect graham crust. These bakers know their stuff! The staff was super helpful and friendly even so close to closing time. I did notice a menu for breakfast items and egg dishes which I will be sure to come back and try. 2nd trip. .... another BBQ and It was requested to make a stop at O'side Bakery again. It was Mother's Day and the place was PACKED!!! I heard someone say the wait for food orders was an hour for either a table or a to go order. Luckily I was just there for treats again! This time it was Mousse, blueberry tart, blackberry tart, two Brules and Oreo cheese cake. Blackberry tart for the win! This is my new favorite thing in the case! The service has always been 5/5 the staff is great, no complaints. It's the food and drinks I have issues with. The coffee drinks are disgusting but charge you the same price you'd get at a nicer cafe. Matcha is disgusting too. I've sent back drinks only to be disappointed and end up asking for a refund. I wandered into this bakery on the hunt for fresh ciabatta one day... the inside of this bakery is open, simple and feels fresh.. there is large display cases with the bakery items they have for the day. Random rant but I don't understand why things are called bakery when they don't sell bread... with that being said they do have good pastries. Not my favorite place to go for a chocolate croissant that will forever be Le Rendezvous (the owners are such a nice couple from France) The servers at Oside are very hip & college feeling atmosphere & it shows, not necessarily in a bad way but I didn't get the correct pastries- not that I minded because the tart was still good, but definitely wasn't what I ordered. So pro tip, check your box before leaving or watch what they put in there, my mistake really. I'll definitely go back to try their breakfast and maybe read a book on their comfortable looking leather sofa. I would've given 5 stars because the food and coffee were amazing but the service was unfortunately TERRIBLE. We were so excited to try this place for the first time after many great recs. i had my kids with me which i understand is a lot for some people and maybe that annoyed them but one girl walked away from me as i was standing at the register an the other clearly was annoyed she had to pull 3 pastries for us. My friend and l came here for breakfast on a weekday morning. We split the breakfast sandwich and a mango tart. I had the vanilla rose latte and she had a lavender honey latte. I loved my rose vanilla latte and would order it again. The breakfast sandwich was awesome and l would also order it again. I liked the mango tart as l love mangoes, but something was missing. This place has a beautiful selection of pastries. I would come back just to try more of those in the future. But l wouldn't pass up the breakfast sandwich either. I was the only customer there when I walked in so the service was good. I was craving a fresh fruit tart. I ordered that first and also got a strawberry cream cheese turnover which did not taste fresh, was doughy and I ended up spitting out. I bought a jalapeño croissant for someone else. The croissant I received was about 60% the size of the ones displayed in the front so for $4 I wasn't real pleased when I returned home and opened the box. The mixed fruit tart was pretty good, although I wish there had been less of whatever was between the bottom crust and more of the pastry cream beneath the fruit. Not super impressed. read more

the pastries are what i come here for honestly. they are so elegant and delicious i have yet to find similar closer to me. I live about 20 minutes away but absolutely worth the drive. they're always quite busy because this is an oceanside gem. This is a charming bakery/cafe. My family and I came for breakfast this morning. We each ordered something different. I ordered the French toast which is consistently outstanding. My daughter and sister ordered omelet and the egg/bacon breakfast. All was excellent. Their coffees are excellent. Service is very good and the food comes fairly quickly. I highly recommend coming here for a meal or coffee and a delectable pastry. read more

Was not able to order from the kitchen for their hot foods so i won't be able to give a 5 star since it closed earlier when we went. The place is clean and they were attentive cleaning and refilling condiments after their customers. The place is big and can accomodate more patrons. The lady who helped us at the front waa very helpful and answered our questions and offered suggestions to what we ordered. We were able to ask for our pastry to get warmed up which was very nice. We ordered the matcha almond croissant, ube creme brulee, artichoke and spinach pastry ans carrot cake latte, which were all very good. Bathrooms were readily accessible as well. This review is just for their bakery walk up- we didn't order any food from the kitchen. My best friend and I loved this place!! They have a stunning display of pastries, muffins, and croissants. Everything is clearly labeled with the name of the item and the price. They also have several interesting seasonal drinks that the cashiers were really happy to explain. We ordered a chocolate croissant and several fruit tarts. Everything tasted delicious. The only thing we were underwhelmed by it was the guava foam latte we ordered. The foam was good, but the latte itself was just okay. My friend said the lattes she makes at home taste better, which is unfortunate, after paying $5-7 for a drink. read more

We heard from friends that their pastries were good. I ordered an egg and bacon sandwich on croissant. The egg yolk was runny, and the bacon should have been cooked to crunchy, but it was not cooked enough making it hard to eat the bacon. The croissant was good. Maybe some people like a runny egg yolk. I ordered a brownie. It was cakey and dried out. I took it back and they replaced it with another one. That was dried out. I tried a third one, and that was so stale that I could not even get a fork into it. So then, I tried the tiramisu. That was so dried out and gummy I could not eat it. I gave up and left it on our table when we left. The coffee was okay. My friend and I agreed on that. My friend ordered the spinach quiche. How can you mess up a quiche? It was dried out, and the crust did not taste like real crust, my friend said. My friend ordered three pastries to go. We both wondered if those would be fresh. We stopped by Sunday after church, the coffee and food was delicious! Customers service a 1 and that's only because the bus boy was nice, he was also the only one who greeted us. No one smiles here everyone looks like they are in a bad mood and hate working here. I ate at the Oceanside Bakery shortly after it opened but for some reason hadn't gotten around to returning until now. Well laid out dining room, lots of light from the many windows. I've heard this place can get busy so I fortunately timed it right and though there were quite a few people eating I was able to walk right up to order. Good selection of items on the menu. I tried the breakfast tacos, without pico de gallo. Their sodas/soft drinks come in cans and they offered a cup of ice before I even had to ask. My tacos were delivered quickly. Overall, the tacos were good. I wasn't a big fan of the tortilla. It was a corn tortilla as expected but it didn't appear warmed or had anything done to it. I compare it to just pulling it out of the bag and adding the ingredients on top of it. I'm sure many people don't mind it that way and it wasn't bad but I guess I was just expecting it to be either warmed or a bit crunchy. I still ate both of them though. I will definitely return to give some of the other menu items a try and will probably grab something from the bakery case in the future. When you walk in go to the right side to get in line, the lines goes along the pastry cases perfect for browsing the tasty treats. There is a big selection of pastries, danishes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, fruit tarts, croissants, scones, turnovers, chocolate mousse, etc. I came here solo and ordered 2 pastries to go as well as a dine in breakfast. The ABC omelette with hash browns and fresh bread on the side. I love toast but the bread was soft but I prefer toasted. Excited to have finally tried this lil bakery and happy to say it didn't disappoint! It's kinda tucked away off mission ave, not showy but delicious. The cafe itself is cute, clean and full of life. They have great art work, plants and the amazing pastry display is beautiful as well! The staff were all helpful and friendly, only downside is the website says open till 3 but the kitchen apparently closes at 1pm, I think they should add that :) The menu is surprisingly fair priced in todays standards and we were thankful to see that!! I ordered the Turkey pesto omelette which was rich in flavor and full of ingredients, the hash browns were okay but it's fine, we're fine. My hubby ordered a bacon breakfast burrito and he said the bacon was cooked well and had nice flavor. They don't have a kids menu but lots of sides, so we got our daughter a pancake n fruit bowl.
