Figured I'd stick…read moreto a dealer since I didn't know the area and needed a trustworthy oil change given my 2k mile journey back. Found it relatively easy to schedule an appointment. Overall pretty satisfied. I didn't get a quote beforehand, but was a little surprised at the price, $66 for an oil change, which could be right on market for Cedar Rapids, but my oil change costs $74 in California. I was expecting high 50s given that there were no extra services performed such as tire rotation, etc. Complimentary car wash left something to be desired, Not sure if it's soap or they just didn't get all the dust off my car (it wasn't super dusty, just the normal amount of dust from a car that's sat in a driveway for a couple weeks without a wash or rain). And given that I have a black car, it is noticeable. I have white droplets and residue from my hood, to the top of the car. I don't expect a professional wash, just not expecting residue. If you want extra social-distance I'd recommend walking over to the dealer waiting area, no one was there when I stopped in, and they had a counter area where you could work on a computer, and complimentary wifi, allowing me to continue working during the service, which was great. Customer service was generally very good, my service rep was very friendly and polite and had a great attitude, it was disappointing that he wasn't wearing a mask and only about 25% of the staff seemed to be wearing a mask. I don't know why masks are so controversial, but given the science, as a customer, when I am at a business that can't be bothered to wear a mask I always think, I guess they don't care about the health of their customers. And it becomes a little painful handing your money over to someone who doesn't care about your basic health. If you're immune-compromised, I would find somewhere else to get your oil changed during the duration of Covid-19.

Labor and parts are extremely reasonable and my issues have been fixed in less than 48 hours. Nathan always calls to explain your diagnosis before fixing anything, as well as gives you an estimate of the parts + labor. My Dad originally referred me to Global and since then I've referred a handful of other people. No scamming here. A truly honest business owner who gets repairs done right the first time. 4 hours is a long way for me to drive (unless I'm in Fairfax visiting my folks) for auto repairs now, but I still refer Global to anyone in the Cedar Rapids area looking for a reputable mechanic.
