    Bloody Mary on the patio

My neighborhood bar, O'Lydia's never disappoints. When I can't make a decision on where to go, I know O'Lydia's will never let me down! They have full menu, great fish fry, and always a good selection of soups! Wait staff and bartenders are friendly, even whipping up drinks they don't always know when I'm craving a little something. They offer shuttles to summerfest, Bucks and Brewers games, and area also a stop on the Walkers point Putt Putt. O'Lydia's constantly has a lot to offer.

I love their bloody mary. Great energy to watch a game but can get really packed. Even when busy though, the bartenders are fast! Wings are good and on special on Wednesdays - we like most of the sauces but the dry rubs are hit or miss for me. They also always have great soup.

I finally made my way to O Lydia's. I've passed this bar so many times and this was the first time I finally made my way. O Lydia's is your typical Irish bar interior included. We were lucky that they still had the kitchen open apparently it stays open until 1am so this is the best place for a late night bite and some drinks. We had a larger group with us and our server was great, delivered our drinks quickly and food came out fast. We got the chicken strips and they are some solid bar food chicken strips I would definitely come back.

Have been going consistently for the wing special on Wednesdays (99c wings) and (.50c off taps). Service has always been amazing. Vibes high with the games of the week on tvs. Will be returning

    Huge Rueben that we shared!

We love a good Irish Bar and this seems to be a good one. (They have Shepard's at dinner) we opted to share a Rueben and it was delicious! The bartender was very friendly and we will be back!

Great service and the patio is super cozy. They offer daily specials and the food offer is pretty good, but I wish there were more vegetarian options and/or a vegan item here and there. Nice spot for patio dining and/or enjoying a beer or two.

Olydias should win an award for having their kitchen open past 10pm. Chicken tenders were hot, crisp, and delicious. Our waiter was fantastic and had jokes to match our own. There was a slight error on the bill they fixed it without problem. Drinks were quick and great. Olydias is a great stop.

I will definite continue to go to O'Lydia's for the ambiance and great drinks, but I'm not sure I will make it a priority for food. The servers were extremely friendly and we were seated right next to the kitchen, so we almost received other table's food quite a few times, but it became and ongoing bit with the food runner which was fun for us! I had the chili and the Caesar salad. The chili was really good and had some heat to it. I would not order the Caesar if you are not someone who likes a fishy Caesar dressing. It is usually not my preference and the lettuce wasn't too crispy, so I would not order it again. I really liked the chili and would absolutely order it again!

Great stop for dinner on a Friday. Just missed happy hour but will definitely stop another time for some good deals. Our server was friendly and very prompt to check on us throughout the night. The menu is a little off than what they have online by like $1 or $2 across the board. Otherwise, they have what you would expect from an Irish pub. Decently busy that night but still a spacious dining area on the back side of the bar. We got burgers, fish fry and an Irish dip sandwich. The sides were pretty greasy (fries and brussel sprouts) but the rest was good. Plenty of space and parking available so this is always a great option for us. Will come back, probably for happy hour!

I've been to O'Lydia's a handful of times now and I consistently enjoy it. Is it the best food you'll find in Milwaukee? No. But it's a little bit dive-y, a little bit cozy, and it's got some really comforting dishes on the menu. This time around, I went for the Irish beef over mashed potatoes. During my last visit, I overheard someone order it without even consulting the menu to evaluate the other options. Their status as a regular and the confidence and enthusiasm for which they placed their order confirmed for me that I must try it. And what an absolute delight it was. It felt like your favorite homemade Sunday roast. I'll be honest, the Guinness gravy did give me pause when I saw it on the menu. But I shouldn't have questioned it! The gravy added a silky, sauciness that elevated the whole experience. The pickles were weird though. Didn't think they were worth putting on the plate. My last few visits I've tried a variety of dishes like the Irish dip sandwich (would highly recommend) and the Wisconsin cheddar mac and cheese (decent, but there's better out there). If you're gonna get fries as a side, go with the hand-cut ones instead of the sweet potato. While the hand-cut fries are rustic and hearty and just crispy enough with a kiss of flaky salt, the sweet potato fries are over seasoned and sometimes hard to choke down. The price point is reasonable, the service is consistently good, and the Thursday night trivia is oh so fun. I know I'll be returning.

Reuben rolls Dinner 6 Mix and Match Reuben and Mozzarella Sticks Rolls

Dive bar atmosphere with a great late night menu. Stopped in for some drinks and decided to order the Reuben and mozzarella rolls (they come in orders of four, six or eight). we did 6, three Rubens and three mozzarella's. They were excellent! Honestly, can't tell you which ones I like better. The inside was packed and the outside was wonton, very light and crunchy. Loved the dipping sauce (nothing special... thousand island and marina... but they hit the spot!). Our waitress was excellent. Friendly, funny and supper cool. Had fun, glad we stopped in.

If they have been around for the last 13 years I have driven past them over a 1000 times and I never stopped because it looks small and fills easily on the weekends was my impression. A coworker recommended this place for brunch so I got there before the opened for in front parking and the doors were open so I grabbed a table knowing that nothing will happen for 10 minutes. My impression was completely right because the place filled up in the first 30 minutes. This place has a lot of old school charm with wood floors, nice wood bar and exposed brick walls. I started with a Bloody Mary spicy which was garnished nicely, full meat stick and was good. The chicken fried steak sounded good and sounded house made so that's my order. The chicken fried steak was obviously a real one given the shape with two eggs, biscuit topped with country grave, house potato my servers suggestion and cute fruit bowl. My service was excellent by the way. The country fried real steak was nice because 99% are the frozen food service kind, it only comes well done topped with chunky country gravy. The potato suggestion was right on and complemented the steak, meat and potatoes. The eggs were cooked perfect sunny side up. The biscuit had that signature southern taste topped with more gravy. The fruit bowl is obvious a signature thing because everyone's meal came with one which was pineapple and watermelon, just a nice touch. Overall it's a nice brunch spot and I completely see its popularity because the food and service is great.

They asked me how spicy I wanted it, and I said medium, which I think they nailed. This was one of the best Bloodies I've had in town! Overall, a nice brunch experience with good service and a great ambience. I do want to return to try more brunch items.

Now there are two things that didn't go well. The first is the Lancashire hotpot. Traditional ones are supposed to have thin potatoes all covered over the top. This one only had a few on the side. See the picture below. The menu even said "topped with potatoes." The stew itself just tasted like ground beef in beef broth. It was sad. Service was not good. Our server never checked on us the whole night after taking our order. We couldn't get any drink refills and had to flag down a different server to close out our order. I generally enjoy British food and will come back to give them another chance. I would order different things next time, though.

I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night. The bar area was absolutely packed, but both of the ones I talked to about placing my order were friendly and helpful even with being super busy.
