This is a must if you are in Lisbon and want to experience Fado music and local Portuguese cuisine. Though I highly suggest making a reservation for dinner as they only fill the tables once. This place is cozy and charming and the wait staff is quite friendly.
I ordered the Lombo de Bacalhau à Lagarerio, a regional speciality of salted dried cod with fresh black olives, onion, and roasted potatoes. It was really fantastic. The cod had a light flavor and was tender. I then ordered the Pão de ló de Alfeizerão com moltho de frutos silvestres, for dessert. This is a local speciality of sponge cake and egg cream with a wild berry sauce. It was sweet, sticky and full of flavor, especially with the tartness of the wild berries.
The entertainment was fantastic. The singers would rotate between man and woman, young and old, and sometimes just the guitarist and mandolin. Either way you hear it, it is a treat and a definite must in the Barrio Alto section of Lisbon. read more
