We came here for a girls night of fado. This was such an amazing experience. From the staff to the music. First let me say the staff everyone was so professional, friendly, accommodating... superb! The music phenomenal. You could feel it in your soul. You don't have to speak the language to understand fado. It's like opera you just feel it. Since I have so many allergies I advise the waiter as soon we started discussing the menu and he went above and beyond for me. He made cocktails specified to my diet restrictions. He helped me with meal options. For dessert there was nothing I could have so he had the chef whip up so df/gf sherbet made from melon and another one from another fruit, it was divine and so refreshing. Overall the food was completely different than anything we had ever eaten but we were full and very satisfied. It does get a bit chilly in here, ladies bring a shawl to throw over your shoulders if your cooking in the summertime. I can't say enough about this place. I'll be back during My next vacation

Dinner at Casa de Fado O Faia is not just a meal -- it's an experience, and a very Lisbon one at that. Dinner for two, €80 per person, and honestly? Worth every euro. The night starts strong with a proper couvert: naturally fermented bread (the good stuff), artisanal butter, and perfectly marinated olives -- simple, elegant, and setting the tone. For starters, we went with the soup -- a rich, soulful mix of beef, poultry, sausages, and pasta. Comforting, hearty, and deeply Portuguese. The kind of dish that quietly tells you, you're in good hands. The main event was the bacalhau à Gomes de Sá, and it was nothing short of divine. Perfectly cooked, balanced, indulgent without being heavy -- cod done the way it's meant to be done. Dessert sealed the deal. I had the pear in wine with chocolate and chili crumble -- elegant, slightly daring, and beautifully executed. My wife went for the olive oil pudding, which was silky, unexpected, and surprisingly addictive. All of this was paired with a delicious Cartuxa wine that tied the evening together effortlessly. Between courses, three different fadistas took turns on stage with their guitarists, singing fado full-voice, full-heart. No background music here -- this is the real thing, and it demands your attention in the best possible way. A delicious night, start to finish. Highly recommended to anyone in Lisbon. Make a reservation. Seriously. Walking in without one is basically a fantasy.

Hello everyone and welcome to Lisbon, Portugal. So you find yourself in Lisbon and are looking to have a wonderful dinner and take in some of the local culture and the traditional Fado music? We'll look no further as "O Faia" dinner club in the "Alto Barrio" district has got you covered. Fado is a traditional form of Portuguese music that appeared in Lisbon in the 19th century and has continued to today. Fado music symbolizes the city's traditions and cultural mix. The artists perform three separate sets while you are dining which works very well. While they are performing you can continue to dine but all service stops until they are done and then resumes afterwards. So on to the food!! Overall I can say that most all dining in Portugal is amazing and both the cost and quality of the food are phenomenal; however, the service we received was second to none. Everyone was very courteous and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. One item to consider if you take an UBER or taxi is that they cannot drop you off right upfront so you may have to walk a bit to get to the restaurant. If you have trouble walking you may want to wear some comfortable shoes. All in all it was an awesome experience, affordable and well worth it. If you want to experience some traditional Portuguese music and some great food, you don't want to miss it. Make some reservations and have a great time! You only live once. Enjoy and Bon appetite mes amis!

What a fabulous evening! We made reservations online ahead of time and so glad we did - - the place was full! We were seated at a table with a great view of the musicians. Service was friendly, english-speaking and so, so, so helpful. The menu was in multiple languages and clearly listed ingredient information. Our server helped navigate the menu to confirm I was avoiding gluten and dairy. And they also paired our courses with the most delicious drinks.

This was a memorable place. The food was very good indeed. Sorry, but I don't have many pictures to share of the food. All dishes were delicious and well presented. The service was impeccable and the dining room was very comfortable. The highlight however was the Fado Show. The Singers and accompaniment were extraordinary. The woman and the gentleman who performed had incredible voices - you could "feel" the music and the sentiments each performer were working to convey. Highly recommend!!!

Everything about this experience was spectacular! From the service to the food and of course the entertainment. The only issue we had was we felt the wine pours were inconsistent. Other tables seemed to get larger pours. Could have been an optical illusion but it felt that way to us. The fado entertainment was wonderful, the singers were amazing but I would have enjoyed the last set with all instrumental, they were so incredibly talented and a joy to listen to.

We had a beautiful time at dinner. Such an intimate and well curated space. The host was so warm and engaging. He gifted one of my friends the tie off of his neck!! All of the staff was so attentive and kind. We were serenaded by a performer with the most beautiful voice. The music created a beautiful ambience for a candlelight dinner. My only regret is that we had to leave early due to an emergency. But everyone was so accommodating and packed up our food quickly. Recommend anyone visiting Lisbon for the first time should make sure this is on your list.

One of the top 10 places for Fado. They have the legendary Lenita! I bought her CD and she autographed it. The food is amazing three course meal price fix. The service is impeccable, friendly, and attentive. I was so full after the meal. It's nice that they break up the meal between the singers. definitely, you have to make reservations in advance. I agree it's one of the best places for entertainment and dinner.

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

We did not have any reservations and we're having difficulty being seated at restaurants but our party of 5 was very lucky that there happened to be a cancellation for a larger party. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the vibe and ambiance. It was a very modern ambiance with some nods to the seafood theme of the restaurant. Our server was so fun and had great recommendations. For the small plates, we shared the tuna, scallop, burrata shrimp, mixed ceviche! We were told the mixed ceviche was the most popular. It was one of the most unique and favorite dishes and had sweet potato in it (such a great twist!). All the dishes were great but I also really enjoyed the combination of flavors and textures in the shrimp burrata and tuna dish. For big plates, we had the octopus and the golden rice. Both were very unique dishes. I loved how rich and creamy the risotto was in the golden rice and enjoyed the crunch of the fried chickpeas with the octopus dish. The wine selection was also great! We had three different bottles from varying Portugal regions. Definitely would return in a future visit!

When you find Estrela Da Bica, it is on a side street right off of the steep street with the trolley that is famous. There was a small open door with a sign asking us to wait outside to be seated (so as not to crowd the restaurant). Make sure to follow these instructions, as my family and I watched some other unaware tourists walk straight in, grab a menu, and promptly get asked to go wait outside. After a minute or two, we were seated by one of the staff (possibly the owner?). The staff was all women, and they seemed very proud of their restaurant. The decor was quirky and very homey, with various mismatched tables and chairs. We were informed that the food is all meant to be shareable plates, and we started off by just getting some sourdough bread with dips. There were multiple different kinds of bread and the dips kept them interesting, one being a fish spread. One of the appetizers caught my eye instantly, the roasted pork belly, banana mash, and pico de gallo. I usually like banana flavors mixed with savory (I've tried weird combinations like a peanut butter banana hamburger before) so I knew I had to try this. The outside of the pork belly was perfectly crunchy while the inside was tender. As I expected (but I would guess most people wouldn't), the banana mash complimented the rich savory flavors of the pork belly. For the mains, we ordered the pink marlin tataki with pineapple chutney, potato and rosemary sourdough pizzeta, roasted Hokkaido with butternut mash, dried nuts sand, and house kimchi, the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and crispy chips, and the pork cheek ravioli with mustard sauce and buckwheat popcorn. They were all intriguing flavor combinations that I would never have thought of in my life!! What stood out to me was the confit codfish cheeks with poached egg and the crispy potato chips. We had tried other codfish dishes around Lisboa and had noticed that it was the most common fish there. But this combination was luscious, with the soft egg coating the fish and the chips adding a nice crunch to every bite. It was like a fish carbonara in a way with the poached egg providing a sauce. This was the standout dish to me, representing what Lisboa is all about while not being afraid to take risks. All of the other dishes were interesting too, and each left me with new ideas of combinations that I would have never thought of. After the dinner was so impressive, we were enticed by the dessert. We got the chocolate mousse and basque cheesecake with guava jam. These were Like I said, the staff seemed proud of their establishment and rightfully so. Estrella da Bica may be a small, simple, establishment, but they are not afraid to push the boundaries of gastronomy. This was the kind of restaurant that flies under the radar, but I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon it.

The atmosphere and food were so good that it didn't even matter. Our waiter was fabulous. This is a place you need to try.

He talked about how this place was in the seedy part of town but I was surprised to see how much the neighborhood has changed since then -- it's literally on pink street now, one of the biggest tourist areas in Lisbon. However, any worry of whether this place was now a tourist trap was assured by the fact that it has remained the same since that Anthony Bourdain episode over a decade ago and pink street just seems to have grown up around it. We ordered a bunch of tinned fish including smoked salmon, codfish livers, cockles, and mussels. It was definitely way too much food but it was SO delicious. The olive oil, lemon, garlic, and parsley "salsa" they use to dress everything up is simple but perfect. The dry white house wine was 3.50 euros for a glass. The super bock was flowing too. Staff is friendly and service is at your typical Portuguese pace. We ended up coming back here on our last night in Portugal so we could purchase the cockles and the smoked salmon. We also ate some razor clams as a snack while we were there and those were delicious too.
