Amazing place, food and service. You MUST schedule in advance. I went here back in 2019 on my way home from my Europe trip and can't stop thinking about the food and wine since! They were so nice and everything was so perfect. I was a solo dinner who was befriended by a couple having dinner and we just chatted ate and drank the night away! I literally want to plan a trip back to Lisbon JUST for this place! It's is a very small establishment with lime seating, hence needing reservations in advance. It's dimly lit and so cozy. Cantinho Lusitano was amazing!!! It was one of the highlights of our time in Portugal. I originally heard of it through a friend's friend's Instagram and checked the website. I saw a previous review suggesting to make a reservation and I completely agree. You MUST make reservations to ensure a table. I emailed them 1-2 weeks before for a party of 8 and there are only about maybe 18-20 seats inside. You feel a sort of exclusivity when people without reservations show up at the front door (which you can't actually open from the outside) and are politely notified that they need to make a reservation. // Food They were out of a few items but we mostly got at least one of everything. Our group hasn't had Portuguese food before so nothing to compare there but overall tasted great and we tried vinho verde for the first time! Great service and ambiance. Very generous pours for the wine and the baked goat cheese is excellent! I was disappointed with the beef dish because the beef itself was tough and and bland. We got lucky without a reservation but I would definitely reserve as they turned a lot of people away. Price was also very reasonable. read more

What a unique and special place, its tiny with maybe only 18 seats and extremely unassuming; you would walk by it and not give it a second glance if you didn't know better, and that would be a mistake. Reservation required if you'd like to dine here, no seriously the place was full and at least 15 people were turned away while we enjoyed small plates of garlic shrimp, braised pork cheeks, pica-pau beef with an excellent Portugal wine, I forgot the garlic butter for the bread is phenomenal and goes great with the fried sweet potato that accompany the beef. For desert the lemon tart (homemade) with raspberry sorbet (homemade). Simple but perfect! Oh and reasonable all that for under 50 euro! read more

We've been in Portugal for three weeks and have eaten at highly touted places, working class joints and big, fancy restaurants but the best meal we have eaten in the country was here. The food is excellent, interesting and thoughtfully prepared. The place is tiny -- only 18 seats -- so a reservation is in order. We stopped by two days before to book. There are only two folks running the place, a server who is pleasant, knowledgeable and fluent in at least three languages and a chef who we did not see. The server explained that sometimes her sister comes by to help with dishwashing. Even so, the meal was well paced and prompt although it was moderately stressful to see how hard they are working. We had the fava beans with cumin, the chickpea, olive and tomato salad, the greek meatballs with yougurt sauce and the pica-pau beef. Each was presented in a nice sized portion so we did mot overeat and the server knowingly asked if we wanted more bread to soak up the various sauces which were left after we had cleaned our plates. We finished with two espressos and a yummy lemon tart are were stunned to find that everything noted (plus two fizzy waters and a glass of red wine) were well under forty Euros. This little Tapas restaurant is fantastic. There are very few tables, so we were turned away when we arrived spontaneously as the place was fully booked. However, we wouldn't be deterred and were able to reserve a table for the following night. And was it ever worth coming back! We shared a starter and four tapas from the mouth-watering selection, and every single one of the dishes was delicious in its own way - there were olives with garlic oil and fresh bread, some heavenly, slightly heated runny cheese, a fava bean salad that was perfect in its simplicity, very tasty stuffed mushrooms and beef in an indescribably yummy gravy. We had a glass of lovely red wine that went perfectly with every dish and a raspberry sorbet to round it all out. Actually, we couldn't resist the liquor menu either, and thus discovered a local sour cherry liqueur called ginjinha that was so good that we had to take a bottle home. Our waitress was extremely helpful in explaining the dishes and drinks to us and gave us lots of information and advice surrounding our meal. Even though she had to take care of the whole room by herself, she was quick and seemed to genuinely enjoy talking to us and answering all our questions. Small place, big flavour (I feel like that makes for a captivating tag-line). AND A TRUTHFUL, DELICIOUS ONE AT THAT. There are only 18 seats here, so I strongly recommend a reservation to avoid disappointment. A quick call or email (very responsive on this front) and you'll secure a spot. The concept here is small plates, with 2-ish per head hitting the spot for our party. On offer are some more traditional offerings (salt cod dish with potatoes, chickpea salad, farinheiro* sausage, garlic shrimp) and also some more outside-the-box options like a delicious pork stew, and a soft Portuguese cheese served with crackers. I have been eating my way through garlic shrimp (if it's offered on a menu, I'll go for it!) and Cantinho Lusitano's version was one of the best I've had in Portugal. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, not overdone, and the bread served at the restaurant was the perfect size and consistency for sopping up the excess garlicky oil. Double nod of appreciation for the octopus which was similarly prepared and extremely tender. Good, if small, selection of wines. The service was charming (shout out to Silvia) and the husband-wife team running this spot clearly has a good thing going. The place is hard to find if you are not familiar with the area and away from the busy streets of lisbon. Ive been to portugal many times and have eaten alot of places, yet this place is my favorite by far. The place is very small and only seats a few at a time. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. We tried a Douro wine based on her recommendation and it was excellent. We ordered several dishes and all were delicious but we loved the scrambled eggs. My boyfriend didn't think we should get it. .. its scrambled eggs how great can it be but he loved it and do did I. Easily one of the best meals I've had in Europe. Its not the easiest place to find, but definitely worth the effort. I let the server make the selections, and every single dish was outstanding. Perhaps the best thing is to try a little bit of everything. Prices are a bargain for the quality, but highly recommend booking a table in advance. When I think back on my dining experience, I can't help but appreciate the way each dish was so unique and delicious. Went for dinner on vacation, thanks to a TripAdvisor top-10 recommendation. Understated vibes, friendly service, sweet residential neighborhood, delicious home cooked food, affordable prices, local wine selection. The catch: make a reservation! They are apparently booked solid every night, offering a couple dinner seatings so that the chef (staff of 2-3, tiny place) can cook to order. Limited vegetarian options but I was able to eat plenty- even more options for meat eaters. Server is lovely, chef's wife just had a baby, felt like someone's personal dining room! Difficult to find, we lucked out as a neighbor guided us to it in the midst of a very middle class purely residential neighborhood. Alexandrew stole the show for us, as a one-man band handling the seating, the serving, and suggesting what turned out to be the perfect four selections for our dinner. He also had to man the door, as there were dozens who had to be turned away without reservations. Amazing Find. I got this restaurant by searching reviews. When we got there, I have to admit - I was worried. It looked like a mom and pop shop hole in the wall. Um - yeah, I was totally wrong. One of the best meals I've ever eaten. It is Tapas style. My husband and I had the marinated olives, baked goat cheese with honey and rosemary, mixed black sausage plate, scrambled eggs with chorizo, baked octopus, shared a lemon tart with raspberry sorbet, had a bottle of wine and espresso. The bill was around 43€ ( we topped up to 50€ because the service was great ). Please note - reservations are a must. They were turning people away. I emailed them and they replied promptly. If you want to have dinner after 8 pm you should book well in advance. Lastly, the other restaurant I love in Lisbon is Restaurante Duque Lisboa , but I think this one tops it. read more

Incredibly authentic, delicious, and innovative dishes prepared in the most cozy restaurant. Loved the tapas-sharing-style but was pleasantly surprised by how big each dish was.
