Portuguese sausage board (me for scale )
    Michelle T.

One of my favorite restaurants during my 10 day vacation in Portugal. I highly recommend making a reservation online, it is quick and easy! Otherwise, it may be difficult to get a table. I came for a dinner and sat outdoors on their patio on the upstairs floor. It wasn't cold at all because the patio was covered. The cocktails are delicious, especially the gin ones. We ordered many different dishes to share but my favorites were the ceviche, beef cheek and octopus rice. However, everything was absolutely delicious and you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Service was good and they had wifi :)

The staff are friendly and service is efficient; there is ample room for seating. The menu is clever and has some interesting dishes, but we were slightly disappointed by the taste of the food (much of it was decent but not great), especially the pork crackling, which was quite tough.

I really wanted to like this spot but was disappointed. We waited 45 min for our table on a weeknight. The potato's bravas were mediocre at best and seemed not freshly made. The meat plate portions were limited. The sangria was good but overpriced. Wil not revisit We went somewhere else after for our full dinner

Tapa Bucho did not disappoint. One of the best ribeye steaks ever. Tender and juicy. Comes with ground sea salt on the side. Cooked perfectly for me. Medium is like medium-rare to some. Next dish was portobello mushrooms with a fried egg on top. This was perfectly paired with the steak, coincidently. One more dish was fried pork belly. Crispy skin and soft, tender pork. The waitress was kind enough to let is bring our own wine. Apparently, that isn't a thing in Lisbon like in the States. The whole bill including tax and tip was $45. Easily $85 in the States.

A beautiful establishment with an amazing tapas selection. Lots of seating inside and outdoors on their patio. The wine selection was great and I recommend the croquettes and shrimp. Definitely check it out.

This is a special place. We ordered seconds on the tuna tacos. The local meat and cheese board was perfect. The service was charming and efficient. Prices were reasonable for the quality. A highlight of our trip to Lisboa.

"You guys ordered way too many tapas"- waitress. My wife and I elected to try Tapa Bucho on our last night in Lisbon. I generally am not a tapas lover. I commonly leave a meal of tapas hungry and with an empty wallet, but that did not happen tonight at Tapa Bucho! We elected to order a pitcher of sangria to start, water, five tapas dishes, a dessert with a glass of port to accompany it... which came to a grand total of 52.50 eu! The sangria came loaded with plenty of fresh fruit (Lemons, limes, oranges) and a stick of cinnamon that was able to fill a minimum of six glasses for myself and wife (3 each). The sangria was flavorful and refreshing with some modeled mint thrown in the mix. For dinner we ordered the Alheiro croquets, Batata's fritas, Salad, Ox whip, and steak (not shown on menu). The croquets were stuffed with Portuguese sausage that were to die for! Honestly I could've eaten a whole plate of them. It came with a dipping sauce that was garlic and tangy. You can order as many croquets as you want, but I would recommend at least two for each person. The Batata's Fritas were hand cut French fries that came loaded to the table. The fries were accompanied by two sauces (a white garlic aoli/ a mystery orange sauce) that complimented the fries well. The salad was a mix of arugula, grilled zucchini, cherry tomatoes, walnuts, and crumbles of Brie cheese. It was delicious and a much needed veggie fix with our meat heavy choices! The ox whip was a savory dish served on the vertebrae/ cartilage. If you aren't a fan of on the bone meat this is not the dish for you. The ox tail was accompanied by fried chips that complemented the tender meat well. The steak was not shown on the menu tonight. I had read reviews from previous visitors raving about the dish so we asked the waitress if she could make it happen. She delivered... and we had several surrounding tables looking in awe and asking what we ordered. The meat was juicy and tender with little fat and lightly salted. If the restaurant can make it, you shouldn't pass! For dessert we ordered the lemon Oreo cheesecake with a glass of tawny port. The combination of lemon and Oreo cheesecake was a risky choice, but we enjoyed every bite! The dessert was rich and accompanied by a nice lime zest that added an extra fruity flavor. The port was nothing to rave about and I would recommend pursuing another option. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking out this spot! Escape the tourist traps and enjoy a true Tapas experience.

    Codfish tempura

A travel planner friend for Lisbon suggested this place for dinner and it did not disappoint!! The food was the most delicious AND affordable! Not to mention the service from our favorite Beatriz was incredible, they were so helpful and friendly. All the drinks and food came out in a timely manner. We recommend this tapas restaurant SO much. we loved everything, but our favorites were the tuna tartar tacos, ribeye, romaine lettuce and codfish tempura! (Basically everything we had). Not to mention the dessert. Simple menu with a little bit for everyone.

Walking through a small alley we came across this gem. Lots of people inside and the prices looked decent(not the cheapest but not the most expensive). The tapas were a good size for the price. We started off with a Portuguese cheese and sausage board(everything yummy)! The codfish was on point ( as expected) ,Alheira was okay, and the calamari is not something I would order again. Now.. the churros... omg! They melt in your mouth.. the best I have ever had! Sitting in a scoop of cinnamon butter and fudge I thought I died and went to churro heaven. They were so accommodating to my family ( we are traveling with our 2 year old). A hidden gem for sure!

Great for drinks and a light meal. None of the food was outstanding or memorable but there are no lines! Service is great. Everyone is super friendly.

This little restaurant is adorable. It was worth the wait outside. The patrons were nearly all tourists. The anchovy salad was the highlight. I didn't love the steak as much as some Yelpers do - it was nicely seasoned but tough to chew. The dipping sauces that came with the fries were excellent. The AC works here so it was comfortable inside even though it was very hot outside.

This looks and feels to all intents like a small meeting place for a family as much as a restaurant. And the atmosphere is perfect - you get to relax over the amazing food while chatting to others. This was a relaxed lunch with a friend and we were both ready to share the tapas experience. There were a great number of dishes to choose from, and my friend and I have varied tastes, so we asked for some help from the waiter. He knew his stuff inside out and made some recommendations we were both very happy with. It was great to have service with a smile and someone who was there to help as well as serve. The Mixed board of 3 cheeses and 3 sausages was put together with skill and care. Dishes like this can go very wrong, but the chef obviously knows his local cuisine. I always go for Calamari when eating tapas and this was an absolute delight. Cooked to perfection. My friend had a real craving for meat, so chose the Ox tail, which just melted in the mouth. In addition, we had the Corvina ceviche with sweet potato puree, lime, casava chips and cilantro which tasted as good as it looked. Just to keep up the seafood end of the bargain (after all, we were in Lisbon) we had the Prawns with garlic sauce and these were amazing. It was quite a shock that we were still ready for dessert after this, and shared the Creme Catalan with ice cream and the Walnut and chocolate cake with mascarpone and lime cream between us. They were heavenly! My friend and I have spoken about nothing else since!

Having experienced fado outside of Portugal I didn't feel strongly that it was a must-do, but when I found myself at night on the street that is known for fado I prioritized it. For the best fado experience I recommend an intimate space, hopefully crowded with people but also with a view to the performers. Tasca do Chico is exactly that place. The doorman told us that space was standing room only, at the (tiny) bar. From there we could see and hear the performers while ordering food and drink. We'd not been there long before we were offered an available seat at a table which caused us to order more food and drink and stay a little longer. The fado here is quite good, made even more enjoyable as the artists change quite frequently; a song or two and a new artist steps forward, all very talented and enjoyable to watch and hear. The fado places tend to have lines out the door and a doorman managing entry. A place across the street looked much bigger but the intimacy is, in my opinion, what makes the experience both unique and special. Even if you have to start at the bar, Tasca do Chico is a great place to experience fado.
