Menu was Prix Fixe. But unlike most such menus, O Corrido's menu had at least 4 or more choices for appetizer, entree, and dessert. Service was impeccable, friendly, and solicitious. Since we walked in without a reservation, we ended up in the mezzanine seating area. Although we could hear the beautiful singing, we could barely see the beautiful singers! Philippe, the Guitarra Portuguesa player and co-owner of the restaurant with his wife (who sings beautifully!!) offered to move my wife and I downstairs when a table became available to better able to enjoy the performances! It was my second time traveling to Lisbon, so I thought it was high time for Jamie W and me to try an evening of dinner and fado, Portugal's traditional cabaret entertainment. But where? We were made aware of this place from a video we watched on the flight over from an expat vlogger named Dave in Portugal. He raved about it, so I made a last-minute reservation. When we arrived, we were seated upstairs in the less enticing mezzanine section where we had to watch the performers through an opening in the floor where their heads were partially hidden under the second floor walkway. What made it worse was that we were subsequently sequestered to the side of the mezzanine where we had to crane our heads to watch the festivities. The less-than-desirable seating and partially obstructed view were not going to torpedo our evening. We decided to start with the 20€ pitcher of refreshing Sangria (Photo 21). We both ordered the 64€ Menu Corrido Dinner. This included the fado show (of course), couvert (starters), one appetizer, one main dish, and one dessert. Little did we realize how long our dining experience would be. First, the Couvert arrived, rustic bread slices accompanied by marinated olives, flavored butter, and Algarve's carrot hummus (Photo 15). For our appetizers, Jamie requested the Shrimp & Bivalves Rice with bits of clam, shrimp, and garlic (Photo 2). I went for the traditionally Portuguese Caldo Verde Soup with chopped kale and chorizo (Photo 4). Both were decent enough, just not outstanding. Our entrees also fell a bit short. Jamie decided on the Slow Cooked Pork Belly & Crispy Skin, which came with sautéed savoy cabbage, chorizo, and sweet potato purée (Photo 3). I had the Roast Duck Breast & Confit Leg with baked duck rice and braised red cabbage in Madeira wine sauce though oddly missing the confit leg (Photo 7). Both were a bit overcooked and rather smallish in portion. Interspersed between the courses were the fado musicians, one playing a traditional Portuguese guitar and the other a more standard six-string guitar. Three singers performed two songs each, about 4-5 minutes per song. Their voices offered dramatic flair in their emoting. The first was a young woman, the second an older male, and the third came across as the prima donna in her confident renditions. Dessert consisted of Chocolate Mousse with Salted Toffee (Photo 5) and Condensed Milk Cheesecake with Wild Berries (Photo 6). Both were fine, but by now, the evening was clocking in at well over three hours. We had early morning plans, so we asked for the bill well before the final performances. They didn't accommodate our request, and we ended up waiting quite a while. Long night. Really adorable place. It's a homey, cozy feel and the musicians were great (3 different female singers and two male guitar players). One youngest female singer was extraordinary. I wasn't expecting the food to be anything great because I assumed they focus on the music but the food was quite good! Try to get your order taken soon after sitting down because they don't take everyone's order before the music starts and so if you don't put order in early you have to wait until there's a break in the music and you won't get served until another break. read more

Located across the street from the National Pantheon. Featuring an authentic Fado Experience, by the owner Felipe (who is the manager and lead guitarist). Fado music is a song genre created during the 1600s in Lisbon by sailors wives. They offer two prefixe menus: 65€ and 128€. The 65€ course includes a 3 course menu with choice of appetizers, main entree, and dessert! We selected the cod fish fritters and Portuguese potato soup. Both appetizers were absolutely amazing! For the entree we ordered the shrimp stew over rice, which was incredibly tasty. My Polvo (grilled squid) was juicy and tender on the inside and the tips of the tentacles were slightly charred. Our desserts featured the chocolate mouse, which tasted like an almond Rocha with cherry jam and gram crust on the bottom. The cheesecake was the best that I have ever tasted! Home cooked, not store bought and the berry sauce was such a great combination! Beautiful music with a Portuguese guitar and angelic vocals. I had a great time at this fado restaurant experiencing both Portuguese culture and food. To be able to get in, you can to make a reservation online and confirm via email. You will again receive an email 2-3 days before the reservation date to reconfirm to avoid no shows which I completely understand. This place is very popular so book in advance if you're thinking of going when visiting Lisbon. The place is run by a husband and wife. What a power couple which I absolutely adore the teamwork they have. The restaurant is very Portuguese with great acoustics for the fado music. How it works is you order from a pre-fixe menu for appetizer, main, and dessert. In between the meals there'll be a fado performance. I ordered the codfish fritters, octopus dish, and sericaia a Portuguese pudding for dessert. All dishes were great along with the performance. I was seated front and center from the stage. The performers don't start singing until 8:40ish. We were informed that there will be 4 sets of different performers tonight. Each singer will have about a 20 minute set. Each set has a break in between. The appetizer is served prior to the first set. The main course is served after the first performer so the clinking and clanking of plates and silverware isn't a distraction to the live music performance. The dessert is served between the second and third performer. The host, who surprisingly happened to be one of the guitarists is sooooo friendly! He gave me good recommendations around town and where to go and what to eat! We also spoke about the different performers and how different generations pull inspiration from different things, which is apparent in their performance. Thank you! PSA for women: If you're seated on the second floor make sure you cover yourself up if you're wearing a skirt or a dress. The whole first floor can see your goodies, which we are not here to see. Kept hearing about Fado before I went to Lisbon so def had to check out this place. O Corrido in Lisbon is an incredible spot for dinner and Fado performances. There were four different performers, and each one was absolutely spectacular. The venue has an old theater vibe that probably adds to the acoustics. The food was also very good. I got the duck, and the meat was super soft and full of flavor. We went with the package that includes an appetizer, main course, and dessert, which was a pretty good deal. Like about 55 USD. Amazing food and an enjoyable fado experience! I came here because another fado restaurant didn't have availability for the night I wanted. They are cash only and I recommend reserving in advance. I got started with the Bulhão Pato Clams. These were so amazing, I wanted more after I was finished. Then I ordered the Pork Cheeks. The meat was tender and the mashed potatoes under were great. I would highly recommend both of these items. For dessert I got the Drunken Pear, but I wish I got something else. The pear was good, but it was just pear. I wish I got to try the other desserts. The place is pretty cozy. Tables are close together and fairly small. I had to crane my neck a bit to watch the fado. The performers were wonderful and impressive. You have a performance and then a long break and then a performance, etc... The people who ran the place spoke English and Spanish along with Portuguese. I forgot if they spoke French as well. I could communicate with the waiters in English and Spanish easily. Overall I'm giving this place 3 stars because of the service when I was preparing to leave. I wanted to leave after 2 hours since I had plans early the next day and other dinner guests were leaving. I asked the servers for the bill a few times, but it seemed like they forgot about me. After waiting for ~20 min the next and last performance of the day started which I had to sit through and bills weren't being brought out. At this time during the performance, it would be rude for me to go up and pay. And no one would be at the counter anyways since the lady was performing. Probably about an hour after I intended to leave, I could finally pay and I had to pay at the counter since no bill was brought out to me. However I'd give a 5/5 for the food and fado. read more

Fado experience was no question about it. 4 different singers, I believed one lady in her 20s, one in 40s, and one in 60s (?), and a man. Which gave a different and complete experience. The food, however, was pretty horrible. Apps- Blood Sausage - very oily and blood scent. Octopus Salad - chopped up pieces not satisfying. Entree- Seafood Rice - this one was pretty good. Steak - terrible quality, shouldnt have ordered this. Dessert- Both Chocolate Mousse and Deconstructed Lemon Pie recommended by our waitress probably were the two dessert you should NOT order. I feel lucky to get a reservation 3-4 days beforehand. The restaurant could stand alone by itself. The food was amazing. It's a set meal, appetizer, main and dessert for $55, not including water or drinks. And on top of the great food and service, we watched soulful, engaging performances with 4 different sets/singers. Each singer performed 4-5 songs. The owner/musician also came by each table to talk to the guests and explain fado to us. It felt like a big party at a (musician) friend's house. The food and service were very nice, and the Fado shows were heart-stopping. The host speaks multiple languages, which helps a ton! Definitely go for the 4-course option with wine pairings for each course. The whole experience was probably 3 1/2 - 4 hours, so don't go expecting a quick meal. The food choices were delicious. The owner (who also plays the guitar) and his wife (an inspired Fado singer) were warm hosts. This place cannot be recommended enough. It was an absolute joy to experience a night of great food and beautiful music here. They offer a fixed price tasting menu with a handful of choices for a starter, main (fish, meat, vegetarian), and dessert and everything we ordered was fantastic. The fado music was beautiful and you could tell how much the artists feel the music and lyrics they sing. The owner come around the tables in between sets for the singers to discuss fado with the guests and talk about their craft. They bring in multiple singers for the night and so you can really get a great range of voices and styles of song based on what the artist is feeling in that moment. It was far and away the best experience I had during my entire trip to Portugal. Do not miss out on a dinner and night here. If you can, plan on spending at least a few hours for dinner. The singing started 8-830pm and they would play 4 songs, and take a 30ish min break before playing again and I believe said they will play until around midnight, we left just a little before then. read more

We were looking to experience a Fado show with dinner in our first trip to Portugal, and after a lot of research, found this restaurant. What a blessing to have reserved here, the owner, Filipe, was very welcoming and personable, sitting down at each table to interact with the customers. The show consisted of 4 different style singers performing 4 songs each, one of which was the owner's wife, Claudia, and my only word is "WOW", what a voice and performer. One of the performances was a duo between the first performer, Maura and Claudia, it was truly the BEST of the night.
