    Grilled octopus

Located in a rustic building right behind the cathedral, I was equally impressed by the beautiful fado performances and the delicious food. I hadn't seen any comments about the food online, but everything tasted amazing. We ordered the fried octopus strips, bacalhau, grilled octopus, and pork cheek stew. The octopus was fresh and lightly bouncy. The pork cheek tender in a rich red wine sauce with buttered bread. My favorite dish was the bacalhau. A gorgeous portion of bacalhau cooked in a rich tomato sauce, with crispy pan fried potato slices, some vegetables with salty ham, olives, and drizzled with olive oil and a rich olive sauce. Sipping on vinho verde and snacking on slices of porco preto while listening to the performers sing was a magnificent experience. I would definitely come back for another visit

Our tour guy is a huge fan of fado so he took us to this spot.. We had a preset menu we started with wine - white or red, our starters were cheese, crackers, olives and blood & regular sausages, we all enjoyed this item. Followed by cod fish fritters, these came out cold and were good nothing exciting. The sopa verde, kale, potato, chorizo & olive oil .. it was mild & tasty, paired with bread this was tasty. I went with the fish, it came with potatoes, peas & carrots. The fish was good. For dessert we had chocolate mousse which tasted more like chocolate pudding, nothing exciting. The music though was fantastic.. I don't know if the same singers and musicians play every night but wow the male singer you could feel the emotion coming through. The musicians also played from memory and were also amazing.

Location: Alfama Lisbon Ambiance: Tiny place. Oriented more towards adults. Live music. Food: it was decent but leaning more towards mediocre. For Lisbon standards it was blunt. Octopus was too simple. Salad was decent. Duck was good but no extraordinary. Live music: The main reason to book in this place is Fado. Which was good but not breathtaking. They sing no more than 6 to 7 songs. Service was good, but they requested a tip. In Europe, there is no a culture of tipping for service. However, they know they cater to tourists, especially Americans. Overall: pricey place, mediocre food. Full of tourists. Locals don't go there. Music was ok.

JUST AWESOME. Yea, so I am not going to beat around the bush - originally thought this might be a little touristy, but I am a musician and wanted to hear some "Portuguese music" (one could debate whether a dinner / music place was the place to hear that), but it was GREAT. Food was really really good, and the music was passionate, great instrumentation, and amazing singing. It was a little pricey, but for the unique experience, the great food, and awesome music - it was worth it. With tip ran us EUR200. (That included a bottle of wine) Highly recommend (1) the mushrooms with ham - killer, (2) the clams with spicy sauce, and (3) the octopus.

On a recent trip we visited Clube de Fado to experience Fado Music. This restaurant provided a wonderful experience with fantastic entertainment. The food was delicious as well.

When I say run don't walk in the other direction of this place I'm not joking. To start with it is entirely touristy! There is certainly nothing wrong with being touristy if you are actually worth the money. They sat with me promptly once I agreed to dinner, along with the show. I placed an order of the tomato and goat cheese salad, which had basically seven flecks of goat cheese, and mediocre salad dressing on top of the tomatoes. After the show started and many people started receiving their dinner, I waited an hour and 10 minutes to get my shrimp order. I tasted the shrimp and they seemed over cooked but the real disaster, started when I tasted the rice, which was a RAW, because it had been made in a rush. I signaled to the staff that the dish had Raw rice, and they took it, only to bring it back five minutes later with the same raw rice 4 shrimp without any sauce!! At this point I had been waiting 1.5 hours for my dinner. It was around 10:30 and I was over it! I asked for my check, which took another 15 minutes and had the shrimp dish included.,. This was the last straw. I asked him to remove the dish, which I hadnt even eaten and also waited over an hour and a half for.!! Some of the other guests noticed that I had been starving, not served properly, and clearly not enjoyed my food-the manager seeing this and clearly wanting the touristy folks not to notice my dismay further, made me go outside and pay near the entrance. He removed erroneous charge of the dish I didn't eat. avoid this place. It has all the hallmarks of someplace that is not worth visiting especially in a town that has plenty of good food and plenty of decent places to hear Fado!

First, I will rave about the service, the wait staff was elegant, professional, and subtly attentive. The food was well prepared, beautifully presented, and scrumptious to the taste! The ambiance had a Hollywood supper club vibe with framed portraits of past fado performers and special guests, simply elegant. My only disappointment was the very lengthy wait time to be seated, despite having reservations. There is not a comfortable or interesting place to wait in the meantime and there was a lack of communication in what to expect. That said, the fado performers and guitarists were worth the wait! It was an absolutely soulful experience;-)

The codfish dumpling fusion was a pleasant surprise, creamy on the inside and a nice chewy gyoza wrapper. The octopus rice was good too. A decent amount of octopus with rice in a smoked bell pepper sauce. I was disappointed by the seafood pasta soup though. I liked the mussels, but the shrimp and the clams weren't the freshest. The clams were a little mushy. It had a nice seafood stock flavor, but definitely could have used more salt and seasoning. We had mixed service from one of the female servers.

It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. A small line of one or two groups at a time formed throughout the night. We were seated outside and there was a street performer with an acoustic guitar - def added some great vibes to the night. It was a chilly December night but the heater provided *just enough* warmth. We ordered the codfish cakes which were alright - nothing too special. Since it was a little cold out, I also ordered the chicken broth. It was bland, but good in its own way. There was some rice and chicken bits in it that tasted really good. The rotisserie chicken that they are known for was EXTREMELY salty. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2.5 rotisserie chicken (so 5 pieces) but this was actually way too much. It's a little better (but still salty) if you don't eat the skin, but that's the best part given how crispy it was! I tried to drown out the saltiness by using the piri piri sauce and it helped a little bit... but biting into the chicken meant biting into the undissolved salt bits. Given how salty it was, we could not finish it at all and left behind 3 pieces. Service itself was meh. They made sure to inform us that the tip was not included in the bill.

I'm going to recommend to our travel coordinator to add this restaurant to the Google map recommendations list because more people need to go to this place - they need more tables, more space, because I'm convinced this is such a hidden gem that should be exposed to the masses to enjoy! We visited several wineries and this restaurant had the best wine - bar none! The fish, a fish I hadn't tried before, was deliciously seasoned, falls apart with the fork, the creamy rice was just divine.
