We're from California. My mother and I both prefer a deep tissue massage. Not every massage expert can do it well. I personally found it difficult to find such a masseuse or masseur in Austin -- until I found "O'Chi Reflexology" at Barton Creek Mall. They can do every sort of massage I've seen -- gentle, normal, deep tissue, all of it. They have chair massage and table massage. "O'Chi Reflexology" observes social distancing with masks, and takes everybody's temperature before they're allowed inside. For those who don't know -- reflexology is an Asian variety of foot massage working on specific "pressure points" of the feet. It's a gentle and relaxing experience. I prefer the "combo" which is a 20-minute table massage, deep, for my back, coupled with 20-minutes of reflexology for my feet at the same time. I feel so refreshed and energetic afterwards, that I've put "O'Chi Reflexology" on my calendar -- twice monthly. ---BEWARE-PREDATORY PRACTICES--- The burden of service should not be on the customer. Unfortunately, my wife had a very poor experience. I wanted to give my wife a quick reprieve while at the mall since she had a rough day with our toddler. Exasperated, my wife went in for a quick 15 minute massage that spiraled into a very unpleasant experience :( Since we were on a time crunch she requested a 15 minute massage. Within the first five minutes of her massage a second associate (female) came and began to massage her as well. THIS WAS NOT REQUESTED. As the female associate began to massage my wife's arms she told my wife "Not free." So now my wife had to bear the burden of declining extra services (given she was not in a clear mental state due to a hectic morning with our child.) Rather than get into an awkward situation my wife just let the female associate continue. As the time came to an end (only 15 minute massage since I had a doctor's appointment we had to get to) the male associate told her "5 more minutes." My wife responded that she had to leave by 2pm (for my appointment.) The male associate once again said, "5 more minutes, thank you." Why should my wife have to be the one to bat away every advance these employees were throwing at her?? She initially stated her desire for a 15 minute massage and then did not enjoy the experience as she had to deal with two separate upsells. Not good. If a customer wants more time they will ask; Do Not put the burden on the customer DURING their service. I've dealt with these same issues at other locations, but had the mental capacity to decline each upsell (very awkward upsells when the associates push back on more time, tips and additional associates helping out.) In the end the 15 minute massage came out to $60. So, the main takeaways here: + Clearly state what service you are wanting and prepare to hold your ground. + Proactively let them know you do not need an additional associate massaging you (unless you are wanting that.) + Know that on slower days you will probably have to decline adding additional time to your set service. Again, I only write this because I so wanted my wife to have a little escape after an exhausting morning and the massage only left her feeling more stressed The burden of service should not rest on the customer. read more

Went today and handed them a punch card for a free 10 mins. I'd earned this after visiting 10 times before, each time, spending at least $60-90. AFTER the service was over, they told me they're new owners and wouldn't honor the punch card. I insisted I wasn't paying more since I'd given them the card in advance. I told them if they'd honor the card, we could start fresh and I'd use their new card going forward. They finally honored the card but after I signed for the service AND tip, they told me I couldn't get a punch for today's $60 service. Super petty and unprofessional. No concept of or consideration for repeat customers. This is in addition to constant up-charge attempts during what is suppose to be a relaxing and therapeutic experience. I've been here at least 15 times and service is always incredible! It's not a fancy place, but their massages make up for it tenfold. I'd say their intensity is deep tissue, but they adjust to your tolerance. I haven't ever had to wait longer than 15-20min for a table, and usually there's no wait at all. Pricing is also super fair. Don't do it. This place is nasty! I lay face down and see hair at the bottom of the table . The customer they had next to me was snoring and they did nothing about it. How can you relax. I asked them to put him in a private room and they laughed at me. Also, when you're getting a massage which was $62 they whisper in your ear $20 for feet massage and just quit interrupting my massage trying to add to the $62 bill. Also, they speak Chinese and talk over you. Once again where's the relaxation and quiet. This location has gone down here and the manager is a horrible leader. She could care less. Any good manager would say I'm sorry let's refund your money and this won't happen again. Trust me go to the 1 star reviews on google and it's the same complaints. You will regret it! read more

Predatory business practices! I felt like I got scammed out of $62 being here! I asked for a foot massage and a foot massage alone. it was originally supposed to be $32 for 20 minutes which I was perfectly happy paying. They took forever to get to me, I had like four people working on me at one point and I started to feel very claustrophobic and uncomfortable. And then some other woman came up to me and started giving me a neck and arm massage which I did not ask for! that was when they bumped my bill to $62. Massages are supposed be comfortable, not stress inducing! None of them spoke English and I had to pull out Google Translate for simplified Chinese just to ask them if i could pay with cash and card. Please note that this business was sold in early 2023 and the new owner has zero focus on customer service. We have been long time patrons of the location, stopping by once a month for about 2 years. We liked it so much we purchased nearly $400 worth of gift certificates that were given as Christmas gifts. The recipients moved in March after which they mailed them back to us so we could use them and they wouldn't go to waste. Went this evening (July 7th) and the new owner refused to honor them because they were 4 days expired (very small print indicates they are only valid for 180 days). We even asked if they would at least do half the value, but no. To make it even more annoying, there were at least 4 employees just standing idle because we stopped by around 6:00 PM and it was very slow. Pretty disappointed to now have to find a new massage and reflexology location. Ugh. read more

I used to come here once a week. They have always treated me very well and the treatments are fantastic. However, about three months ago, they raised their prices for all massages. The foot massage used to be $30 for 30 minutes. Now, it is $42 for 30 minutes. That's a 40% price increase and that has priced me out now. Please consider this. Worst. Massage. Ever. Stopped in for a quick 10 minute chair massage during a recent visit at Barton Square. Location was clean and right outside the Dillard's men's store entrance. I am greeted at the door and directed to one of the open chairs. One of their staff members came over and immediately began "massaging" my back. No discussion His training was either completely lacking or worse, he intended to cause harm. I say this as his technique was to press his elbow into my upper back-shoulders. Then later into my lower back. Yup, that's all. Yes, it was painful when he did it but I chalked this up to "this is what this technique is meant to feel like". I'll be sore for a bit but feel better later. Well, here we are a week later and I feel like I have been hit with a baseball bat on my upper and lower back. I have gone to many similar establishments, and day spas etc. for massages in the past. After this experience, I am now wondering how one can simply assume that the masseur Or masseuse actually has proper training. No, I have never walked into these type of mall joints thinking I will get a 5 star chair massage. I also never considered that I might be choosing to walk into an establishment that employs individuals that will cause bodily harm. Take your back, and your money elsewhere! read more

they pretend they know very little English to get you trapped in a longer session. very pushy we had 3 different staff all pointing to come to different tables with out us being clear how long or what we wanted. then came time to pay and manager pretended not to know English ..except I had over hear him talking a full conversation in english just outside the entrance right before he walked to the register. to be honest the massage was not good at all. i don't usually leave bad reviews but this experience was so bad I felt I needed to. read more

I love this place. My husband and I walk the mall to get exercise on frigid days and we like to stop in for a quick 10 or 30 minute treatment. I do the foot massage and he likes the table massage. They go deep and use a combination of pressure point and deep tissue techniques. We asked our doctors to write a reflexology prescription so that we could use our HSA. The massages improve our back, hip, and leg pain, so that was not a problem at all. The only thing to watch for is if you get the lady that talks to her colleagues the whole time and just rubs the same area over and over, not switching frequently and not paying attention.
