Professional servers (long time staff) that actually know what they're doing (unlike every local chain) and amazing food at very reasonable prices. We had clams casino (wish we got 6 clams instead of 4), pork chops special and salmon in honey and mixed nuts - ALL delicious! Lovely lunch on a Tuesday . We were one of two tables occupied so service was amazing. The menu is so extensive .. everything from delicious bolognese to a huge Philly cheesesteak. I was brought to Nutmeg Restaurant for a surprise birthday celebration in their banquet space, and what should have been a special night turned into a complete disappointment. The food was unacceptable across the board. The salmon made some guests sick. The steak was overcooked, served with gravy no one asked for, and came out room temperature. The stuffing tasted spoiled and was served over what seemed like old shrimp. The vegan pasta was so bad it made that guest nauseous. Several people who ordered prime rib had to send it back just to be further cooked, and even the dessert tasted outdated. It was honestly embarrassing. Trying to address this made things worse. I called and spoke with Chris, the manager, who was rude, condescending, and repeatedly talked over me. Instead of listening, he kept insisting how "excellent" the food was. He was also irritated that I called from a blocked number, even after I explained I had been trying to reach the restaurant since the previous Sunday with no answer and no returned calls. I have never been treated with that level of disrespect by a restaurant, especially after such a poor experience. Between the food and the way this was handled, I would not recommend Nutmeg Restaurant for any event or special occasion. The owner called me back, and the audacity of him to block his number, took no accountability, and to be extremely rude again was unbelievable. He told me to report it to the health department, and I absolutely will be doing that and taking this as far as I can. If you look at the other reviews, the food was bad for other people too, so I'm left wondering if the better reviewers paid. read more

I took my mother to Nutmeg last year for Mother's Day brunch, and we had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and my mom couldn't stop raving about it. So of course, I made a reservation for Mother's Day 2025, hoping to recreate that same special memory. Unfortunately, this year was a very different experience. Although we were seated promptly, it took over 10 minutes for anyone to greet us. I eventually had to get up and find a staff member myself. The waitress was kind and apologetic, and she took our drink order right away--but the food that followed was extremely disappointing. The French toast was so dry and tough we could barely cut into it. The fish was overcooked and bland, and the sausage appeared undercooked--I didn't feel safe eating it. All the food was lukewarm at best, despite being kept in warmers. The roast beef was rubbery and completely flavorless. To make matters worse, when the bill came, it was $178 for two people--far more than the $120 I was quoted when I made the reservation. If the food had been even half as good as it was last year, I wouldn't have minded. But the quality this year simply didn't justify the cost, and I left feeling disappointed and honestly, taken advantage of. It's a banquet hall that also is open as a restaurant!!!! And it's AMAZING!!! They have a separate room set up as a restaurant, and the do BRUNCH!!!! Their menu has a huge range of amazing dishes. I wanted to try them ALL!!! Appetizers, entrees, deserts sides, etc!!! OMG! We tried their escargot and clams casino, amazing! Bread was hot, fresh and oooooh soooo good. For main course we had sea bass and cowboy ribeye. Both cooked to perfection with great flavor and amazing sides!!! Wine and drink selection is very good and their over all pricing was very reasonable. Staff was outstanding and very friendly ALL had wonderful attitudes and smiles- thank you!!! Had a reservation for 10 people for their Easter Brunch at 1 PM seating. Our whole party was there by 12:45. Did not get seated until 2:10! Absolute chaos. Once seated it was another fifteen minutes before we were offered water, our complimentary drinks and missing utensils. Once drinks were brought we were told to help our selves to the buffet. This is where we quickly realized we made a mistake coming here. Food was horrible at best. Everything was cold. I'm not even talking warm. Wait I misspeak, two hot items. The green beans and Mac and cheese ( only items that looked like they had been refilled since the 9 AM seating). The roughly 10 pieces of bacon were sitting in the bottom of the try in grease. The six Egg Benedict were so old that the yokes had literally dried up! Sausage and Peppers, Chicken, "Numerous Seafood Items" which was a tray of cold dried up pieces of fish, with a couple tiny shrimp, was ice cold. Looked like this might have contained other items, but was never refilled, so who knows. Carving station had roast beef, ham and invisible lamb. These also were cold, not even warm. Table with mixed salads did have plenty of some items. The issue here was nothing was on ice. So these appeared to have been out since beginning of the day and at room temp. The final straw was the deserts. The menu listed all kinds of things. Pies, Muffins,Pastries, etc. and their famous cheesecake! Well we had three choices left. Chocolate cake, lemon cake and Death by Chocolate desert. Not one piece of any pie or a crumb of cheese cake. After the cost of the Buffett, mandatory added gratuity and tax, it came out to a little less then $170 a couple. $850 dollars for the table of ten!! A complete rip-off. It was obvious they over booked, where not prepared for the number of people and no one in a position of authority was around to talk to. Before writing this review I looked on their website for a contact number or email of someone I could communicate with about our experience. Well that doesn't exist either. Went there for brunch with 3 family members. The food and selection was fantastic. Such a wide variety of meats; veggies; side dishes; desserts; beverages and more. Our Waiter (Junior) was attentive; fast and very professional and friendly. Plenty of parking and no waiting. Their is only one concern. The two staff serving at the carving and omelette station s were dressed in street clothes (sweats) and wearing beanies. Not professional looking or sanitary. The waiters and hostess were dressed uniformly in white shirts and black pants. I couldn't believe my eyes. An apron/hair net and/or uniform hats should be required. read more

We went for their Thanksgiving buffet. Such a disappointment. The food was lukewarm and dried out. The bread was hard, the stuffing was crumbles, it was so dry. There was no gravy. We had to ask for some. The desert was pitiful. Our waitress was wonderful but the food was horrible. It was definitely not worth the $75 a person. I came here for a bridal shower during their Sunday brunch and thought the inside was beautiful and we'll laid out for the party. They had mimosas, champagne and bloody marys for beverages as well as their standard brunch food. The bloody Marys in the pitchers were warm unfortunately but the champagne was nice and cold. The food was in all really good and the person at the omelette bar even gave me egg whites. The staff was all personal and friendly as well as attentive. I'd recommend a stop in! read more

Sorry but this was months ago... There were three of us on a Sunday & we made a 12:30 reservation because they offer a buffet. We arrived after passing by it, not seeing it from the street... it's set back & the sign is not prevalent. Once we parked in their parking lot & entered the door, there were multiple signs for the banquet rooms but didn't see anything for the dining room - so we continued down the hall until we were greeted by the maître d'. She seated us in a loud medium sized room that was only half full. (I'm thinking the room needs curtains or something to help break up the sound because there are already multiple jogs in the walls to break up the sound.) A waiter came over & took our drink orders. Then another came over to fill our water glass. Once we received our drinks we were told we could select from the buffet . The servers were well trained & the meal was worth the money. read more

This place has a nice curb side appeal ... although they have multiple rooms or banquet halls within, the rooms are designed to make it feel private enough and the room size depends on the number of guests you have. I attended a baby shower last night ... and what I most liked was the hospitality (to me that's really important factor when ur having a party) they had 1-2 wait staff dedicated just to cater to all our needs... they were attentive and always on their toes making sure we had a good time.The food was buffet style @ $20 per person it consisted of a fruit platter, cheese and crackers.. rice , steamed vegetables, pasta, eggplant lasagna, chicken in lemon sauce and green salad... lucky for us we bought our own desert... chocolate cake!! ..that was the only thing I needed for a complete meal... oh! Great place for events and groups of any size. The staff are fun, friendly and very attentive. Bottomless mimosas are always a win. The food is pretty good too. The thing is, the buffet line itself is so so. The food isn't replenished until all the product is gone. So you could be faced with something that has been sitting there for a while or you'll have to scrounge for crumbs of what's left. Sunday Brunch buffet spread was good. Service was fair. It's an old building that's made up to look good. The restrooms were dingy with broken tiles. There was hair on provided napkin, creamer bowl and on table cloth, I was fine to remove it, some may have created an issue. They are sketchy on pricing. On regular Brunch buffet day's it's priced at $34.99. On special occasions they can hike it to $64.99 and not tell you. For an additional $30 they can rave about just 1 or 2 additional items, but nothing too fancy, compared to their regular Sunday Brunch buffet. Being a breakfast person, I have had much better from an ordinary sit-down. If you are a cake lover, you'll appreciate the dessert, they didn't have anything outside of that to offer for dessert. A Tip should always be optional to reward good service and a Gratuity should apply for bigger parties, however they mandate a 20% Gratuity even for a buffet. That's absurd as it's not a-la-carte. Though the service was good, we are not left with a good feeling to tip due to the mandated gratuity. Mandated gratuity means you are not paying your staff well, that's not acceptable. read more

Ordered two family style meals to go. In short it wasn't ready on time, they shorted me $10 in change in my cash payment and the meal did not have the rolls and salad included. None of it did I notice so that's on me and they were very busy with a large buffet crowd. As I was leaving I was tracked down by a nice lady and Junior who took care of all the stuff missing and the $10. I don't care about all that so much the food was fabulous and a lot of it. Visited this past weekend for my Best-friend's sister's 30th Birthday Celebration in the "Library Room" the room gives a very vintage feel. There is a fire place (we covered it)with olden books and a small book shelf built in with old books. The paintings were very old and could use some TLC. The food was good and the rolls are recommended. The drinks whewwww the drinks were amazing the wait staff Junior and Barbara were amazing. I would give this place 5 stars but it could use some renovations. The carpet was very old and the bathroom could use an upgrade as well. I didn't like how you could visibly see the office spaces and the linens on top of the piano. Also, signs saying which room is where could be used. Overall great experience, parking was amazing. Not to mention that covering over the venue when you walk out that was god sent as it was raining so unloading the car was seamless. I did notice there was a gazebo for weddings but that area could use remodeling as well as the sign outside. I love the vintage look this venue gives but major renovations are needed in order to earn this 5-star rating. -Linen was brought in by us, napkins were given by the venue. They only provide white linen and have a host of napkin colors so if you need any other color it is required to bring your own. read more

The only thing I would suggest is that it would look more professional if the employees working in the back at the omelette/carving station wore maybe chefs jackets and hat rather than random clothes, especially being a restaurant of this caliber. We went to the Nutmeg tonight to celebrate our anniversary. There was a party going on in the dining room which didn't allow for a romantic evening as they were extremely loud and giving speeches (they have plenty of banquet rooms and a party of this size should be in room). The dining room was too bright and over lit. I like brightness but this was a bit too much for a dining room. The food was so, so. I've never had a pasta sauce that had so much pepper in it until tonight. Entrees do not come with salad but I wish we had been told that so I could have ordered one. I went for brunch this morning - called ahead yesterday to make a reservation. It was a nice place, very friendly staff. The man that I think was the manager was really nice and brought us extra mimosas (which are included with brunch, by the way with a couple of other choices). Coffee refills were frequently offered. The selection of food was great for the price. The peel-and-eat shrimp were very good - perfectly cooked. A big plate of lox called me back. I was a fan of the waffles - they were crispy even though they were part of the buffet - my table-mates and I were wondering how they did that. There was a carving/omelet station, breakfast foods, chicken, fish, pastas, pastries and muffins, the shrimp, bagels and lox, fresh fruit, salads and the big ol' cake table. A selection of cereal was available too, but really who goes to brunch to eat fruit loops?? One interesting thing was at the dessert/cake table, they had bottles of schnapps - I'm guessing you could pour it over the cake? I'm not sure - I hadn't seen that before. It wasn't packed today because of the weather, but I guess it gets very busy on Sunday so I'd recommend making a reservation. read more

I came with a group today for a birthday luncheon on St. Patrick's day. I am not much of a meat eater, so I ordered the Lobster Ravioli from the lunch menu. VERY disappointed ... the lobster pieces that were the garnish tasted like they had been boiled in old dishwater. The lobster-filled ravioli themselves had an "off" taste. Living in New Hampshire and frequently dining on lobster in Maine, I DO know my lobster and this was not good. Although the restaurant was not overly busy, our very friendly waiter seemed to be the only waiter for the main dining room, and was very busy, so I did not call him over. I just didn't eat the rest of the meal. I had a friend taste it and she agreed with me. Another of our party had ordered it also, and also did not eat it. When the waiter finally stopped by to check on us, I told him how the lobster tasted and he just acted surprised. NO offer to replace it; no money taken off the bill. Just said that would be surprising for the chef, as if "I" was the one who was wrong. I paid the bill, left the tip for his service, but I will NOT be back. read more
