I was craving spaghetti and my partner said he knew the best place in town for homemade pasta. This has the mom and pop feeling. You get delicious warm house made rolls and we ordered a nice big New England style salad while we waited for the rest of your food. Henry's Pizza is the best place to get pizza in the Hartford Ct area. The crust is not real thin, but it is certainly not thick. It is crisp but chewy, not overly crunchy. The sauce is divine, and the cheese is not overly thick. They use cuts of sausage links that are cooked, and a hamburger that is crumbed bits also precooked, so the pizza will not be greasy with either! The small pie is 12", a big small pizza. They have great spaghetti sauce, and the salad is simple but delicious. Service is great, it is an old style pizza house, it is not dark, not romantic, but when I brought my old girlfriend there on a first date she loved the pizza, so the date went well! It's too pricey for not so good food. The pizza crust was like biting into an unsalted saltine cracker. The one star is for the Antipasto. We asked if the Antipasto was big enough for everyone in our party. We were told yes for 4 adults and 3 children. For $16 we expected it to be, but sadly we were mistaken. The Antipasto tasted good but the 3 bites I was able to have just wasn't enough. This is not the Henry's I remember growing up. There was one waitress for the dining room. There were 5 other parties dining as well, too much for one waitress. However, the cashier was happy to sit on her butt doing absolutely nothing. She rang out maybe 2 or 3 take out orders while we were there. Saddened by the fact that I was unable to be with the S.O for this Valentines Day, I was trying to find a little weekend pick-me-up for him. I know Pizza Hut and Papa Johns are currently doing their "heart-shaped" pizzas for Valentine's, but to my dismay, neither deliver to the East Windsor area - womp, womp. I probably called every local pizzeria that delivers to see if they could make a pizza in the shape of a heart. Most said not possible, others said their delivery ranges don't cover his apartment, and others seemed very reluctant (which made me not trust if the pizza would actually look like a heart). When I called in from NJ, I spoke to Henry (the owner, obvi), and he was remarkable! He assured me he'd be able to make the heart-shaped pizza. They do not deliver HOWEVER they have a contracted external company that does. He kindly gave me their number, but when I called they were closed due to inclement weather. WOMP. Henry was so assuring and friendly that I was set on ordering from there though. I purposefully kind of ruined the surprise by telling the boyf to go pick up the pizza I just ordered for him. Henry welcomed my boyfriend by name when he came in to the restaurant. With enthusiasm, they immediately surprised him with the heart pie. I was FaceTiming with him so I heard the conversation, and they were EXTREMELY personable and kind. I asked Henry to write "I (heart) U" in pepperoni for me, and they got creative with it which I loved! It wasn't THE best looking, but the spirit that was put into it made me just LOVE it. My boyfriend gives the pizza 4/5 stars in taste - crispy and tasty, just a tad bit oily. We were highly pleased with the service - 5/5 stars, hands down. I've heard good things about Henry's and decided to try them tonight. Ordered through the Slice app/doordash. So expensive. $17 for a small 5 cheese pizza ($16 for regular cheese pizza so I "splurged") and $25 for a large with a few toppings. And for $1.40 I ordered soda. Figured it would be a 2 liter like anywhere else. It came in a syrofoam container with a lid taped on, in a brown paper bag. That's a first for me, lol. Pizza was bad. Dry, nasty crust with no flavor, most likely frozen. The sauce had no flavor. The olives we added to the large were whole, not sliced. The cheese was sliding off the crust (on the 5 cheese pizza) and burnt in spots. Seriously DiGiorno frozen pizzas taste better and would have cost me under ten bucks. While visiting family here in CT we all decided last minute to revisit Henry's Pizza. I myself have not been to this restaurant in over 40 years or more since we relocated. As kids our family of 7 would visit after going to Railroad Salvage on a Sunday. Today's visit was just as rememberable to me. The service was excellent and they still serve family style which amazed me. Just as remembered. The food was top shelf and even though we walked in with 15 people they were still very accommodating! It was surprising that nobody behind the counter wore a mask during Covid-19 time. Most had a mask but it was dangling from the ear or around the neck. A few had no face covering on their person. Had a family gathering there for my father's birthday, and although we just had the pasta and meatballs, salad and bread, I've found my new spot for pasta. I can only comment on those items, I'm not sure about the pizza, perhaps sometime I might try it, but as long as they have the absolute best meatballs I think I've ever had, I may not be able to try anything else. The sauce, fairly amazing also, a bit of a heat to it (might be from the sausage). The waitstaff there seemed very friendly and made us feel very "at home". Not your traditional restaurant with a very wide open kitchen, open air seating (no booths). Best pizza in the area. I'm from Chicago and this is the closest that I have found to Chicago style thin crust pizza. Even cut in squares like they do it back home. Some say that the crust is crunchy because they don't get it. Not crunchy but crispy. Crispy beats greasy and soggy every time. Excellent pie with fresh ingredients. To call this place "Old School" seems unfair. Its VERY old school. Henrys sits on a lonely stretch of Route 5 and on the past two Saturday nights we transported ourselves back into the 50's and 60's and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. First night I had the spaghetti and meat balls..wife had the lasagna. next Saturday we had a large pizza with hamburg,pepperoni and sausage. very tasty.. Everything is A-OK....ingredients taste fresh..portions are fine....maybe the pizza crust is a little "hard and crunchy" but the atmosphere elevates the rating. Most employees look like they have been here forever..and all seem to truly appreciate our business. Places like Henrys just don't exist any more. enjoy it while you can. read more

But as someone mentioned previously, the two white haired guys in the kitchen seemed bleak, like they were working at a gulag where they had lost their will to live. And the food tasted like it. I had a mushy linguini with meatballs in a sauce that reminded me of the stuff I got back in elementary school back in 1968. Meatballs would probably work in a grinder. The food wasnt bad, it was simply pedestrian bordering on institutional. Portions were good, and the waitress even asked if I wanted more after I chowed it all down. I hate to do this because the little old couple (I assume Henry and his wife) were very nice, but unfortunately the food is terrible. I called in my order and the old woman on the phone was very polite. I arrived 20 minutes later to pick up my food and noticed I was the only car in the parking lot, I see why now. I walked in and Henry yelled my name welcoming me which is probably because I was the only one who called in an order that night. He was a sweetheart while he rang me up but his kindness doesn't offset the fact that the food was garbage. I got home and my wife and I couldn't even eat our food, everything about the pizza was no good, the sauce, the plastic cheese, even the bland crust, we each had a couple slices and threw the rest in the trash. came here with my parents on saturday for lunch. it's a staple for me when i go back to connecticut, i want henry's! the salad for 2 is plenty for 3 and is served with green and black olives, toms, and crispy lettuce. the dressing is simple and delicious true italian style with oil and vinegar. the pizza tastes so good! the other pizza i enjoy in connecticut is from harry's in west hartford. harry's is a yuppie style pizza. henry's is mom and pop style. read more
