Between a 2.5 & 3. They use a lesser quality cheese to save $, but they are generous with it. The portions are large & their food is decent, but nothing to wright home about. I ordered a slice of sausage pizza & it was thick like new England style, but the dough was goopy like Sicilian. All of the toppings were plentiful, The cheese the sausage the sauce, but it was sweet. I investigated, eating each component separately to identify where the sweet was coming from & found that it was the dough. Weird. I tried the chicken bacon ranch Stromboli & it was good, but very rich. Not in a creamy way, but in a this is too much for my galbladder to handle with out it gagging me. Once again, generous w/ serving size & toppings, but I could only eat a little bit of it. Finally I tried their dessert. A piece of carrot cake. It was the same generic stuff you get in the grocery store. Once again, eatable, but not special. Just so you know it's not me, I brought this home & shared it & their opinion matched mine. I cannot believe the way the owner treating me! For context I order food on Fridays. I called and ordered a pizza and there was a mixup and I ended up not having time during my workday to go pick up the pizza. I then got a nasty voicemail from the owner telling me (that my pizza was ready and I either need to come pick it up or give me my money) his words. I tried to call back and explain the situation that unfortunately with my work schedule, I was not gonna be able to come pick up pizza and I'm sorry for the inconvenience before I could even try to come up with a solution with him, I was yelled and swear at. Then after screaming at me for 30 seconds, he hung up the phone. Unfortunately, I see both sides of the story, but ultimately it comes down to you are food service, and service business. You need to be able to not yell at a customer because of a small mixup. Super unprofessional. read more

First time trying this place out. I called my order in and the server was polite and helpful. I arrived at the time I said I would to pick up my order and it was ready to go. The restaurant has a kind of cafeteria look to it. It's a self-service style restaurant. In fairness the pizza was good overall but the crust wasn't as crispy as it could have been. The flavor of the toppings where nice we got sausage and mushroom. They use bulk sausage and fresh mushrooms. The sauce was a little on the sweet side for me. I'll definitely return and try it there instead of traveling with it. Also I'll probably ask for less sauce and for it well done so that the crust is more to my liking. Stopped in on a Saturday just before noon. Place was like a morgue, except for the three employees. First of all, kudos for the cleanliness and adherence to Covid protocols. Kudos also for the variety of choices (5 different strombolis and about 10 or so varieties of pizza). I ordered 2 slices, a margherita and a sausage. Both were good, but very wet and flimsy. Crust is on the thin side, and it just didn't hold up. In fairness, I've had pizza here before, pre-Covid on a week-day. It was much better. I think the time spent under a heat lamp on a very slow day led to the lower than normal rating. I could have used a knife and fork, a pizza bib, and lots of napkins. My friend and I walked in and it was completely empty, given its a Thursday night you'd think there would be at least ONE person. I asked if they were closing because it certainly gave that vibe but the woman there laughed and said no. Maybe take my question as a hint next time? I've always l loved Michael Johns Pizza! They have the best thin crust around! The service is always very helpful and they have walked a box to my car seeing me with my wild toddler and other child. Ok, I'd venture to say that this spot is good for most everything on the menu - except pizza. Although there are a few different pizza options, I haven't yet found one that I like. However, the biggest bang for your buck is probably the grinders or the wings. The grinders - including the small size - are huge and definitely big enough to share or have leftovers. I most recently got the wings, and 8 pieces ended up being more like 12. They have bone in and boneless, even though the menu doesn't mention the boneless option. They also have many flavors available, and the sweet chili was very good (though perhaps a bit too much on the wings, so there was lots of the sauce leftover at the bottom of my plate). read more

A-OK as I see it. It looks exactly the same as it used to when it was operated as "Slices Plus". Lots of individual slices ranging from plain ($2.50) and pepperoni ($2.75). Fancier slices (Buffalo Chicken, BBQ Chicken, Meat Lovers) cost more. I had a soda, a pepperoni slice and a cheese slice for around $7 and it was a good lunch. The slices were generous, thin crust with tasty cheese and sauce. No complaints at all. They also sell hot and cold grinders, and say that more menu choices are on the way. In this part of town there aren't a lot of lunch choices. This one will certainly do. read more

Love, love, love this place! Fast amazing pizza, friendly staff. It's a nofrills kind of place with a cafeteria selection of sell-by-slice pizzas ( thin or sciliian) and yummy stombolis. Add to that, excellent wings, salads, calzones, grinders and of course whole pizzas if you wish. My hubby and I started meeting here every week for lunch and after trying different slices, we've found our favorites; meat lovers & BBQ chicken,but they are all great! Garlic parm wings were pretty good. Would get them again. Pepperoni pizza was super thin, which I love. Not very crispy despite being so thin. Way too much flop. The sauce on the pie was what I would call the equivalent to whatever goes on Ellio's. Pretty forgettable. read more

We ordered from here via Uber Eats on our first evening in CT and it was great! We tried a pepperoni pizza with an order of wings. The food arrived hot and fresh. The wings are noticeably larger that most places where we've tried wings in the past. They were definitely something we'll order again. The pizza was good, nice ratio of cheese to sauce and a delicious crust. We did a large NY style. I wish that the bottom of the pizza was a little more crispy but that's just my preference. This is a really cool local pizza joint. They offer a huge selection of premade pies, whole or by the slice. I went for the sausage stromboli and it was really filling. Our first time here and it's just ok. My rating is not about the food, it's about the entire staff behind the counter not properly wearing their masks, if they had a mask at all. No gloves were seen on the employees. I considered cancelling my order but it was a large order and felt bad penalizing an independent business. The pizza was fine, both cheese and pepperoni. The calzone was good but too much corn meal on the bottom. The antipasto salad was delicious, fresh, crispy lettuce, peppers, mushrooms, Italian meats. I chose to take the food because the pizza and calzone cooked in such high temps would kill any bacteria or covid-19 and since it's not touched when sliced I figured it was ok. read more

We love Michael John's - the price and the pizza is hard to beat. We usually order take-out from here and we have never been disappointed, well other than that we didn't order an extra pie! There's so many options from a topping perspective - with their own concoctions as well as build your own. The pizza is thin crust with great big slices - SO YUM. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! They aren't open every day (I think they are closed on Sunday's) so just make sure to check hours before you drive all the way to Bloomfield if you aren't close :) read more

First time trying out Michael John's and we will most definitely be back. We ordered a small cheese pizza, house salad and caprese salad for pick up for an early dinner. Very impressed with the NY style pizza. It almost didn't make it home, it smelled so good! The caprese salad offered a lot of bang for your buck. Fresh flavors, perfect amount of balsamic dressing and juicy tomatoes with mozzarella cheese...one of the better caprese salads offered in the area. Sorry no pics. Love at first bite. I work nearby and nearly every restaurant in the area is a bit of a hike from my office so this place gets one star for being a quick drive from The Hartford. I already love neighboring Lox, Stock and Bagel and I'm told that the same folks own Michael John's. I definitely saw some familiar Lox Stock employees working at the pizza place. I was impressed with what I saw on the menu before I walked in...grinders, slices, stromboli...all good stuff. When I think of a place that sells pizza slices I never expect variety but MJs delivers big time. I had a slice of buffalo chicken and a slice of meat lovers. Both were delicious with plenty of high quality toppings and a nice thin but crisp crust. I may be going out on a limb here but I felt the pizza was on par with Harry's in West Hartford....yeah, it's that good. It's so good that I haven't stopped thinking about the buffalo chicken slice. If you're looking for a quick turnaround for your meal, you'll be in and out in a jiffy. I was just reminded why I don't order from Michael John's. I placed an order on-line; expecting a delivery. An hour passes, another 10 mins pass, so I decide to call and see what's up with my order. Apparently they're computer system failed and no on-line orders went through. The person answering the phones had no clue what was going on. I asked for a manager and was told he had just left (8pm). They tell me I'm not the only customer who's order failed to happen. In my opinion ... it's a sketchy operation they're running and I won't be ordering from there ever again. read more

Love this pizza joint and it is our go to pizza establishment when we host the family or parties. The pizza and crust are absolutely delicious. Very fast and friendly service. Very modern with their online ordering and pickup service. This place has everything from pizza to salads and pastas to home made soups. Can even buy a pizza by the slice while out for lunch. This is one of those places where if u didn't know where it is you would drive right by it. When I got there, I couldn't believe how busy this place was. There had to be about 15-20 people waiting in the cafeteria style line. Also a good portion of the tables were filled up. Luckily I ordered ahead for my office. We got two large pizzas. One meat lovers 21.99 I believe and one large cheese for 13. The pizza was pretty good. Definitely not the best I've ever had but it was good. I reccomened it if your in the area. I do think it's better than any pizza I've had in bloomfield. Including park Ave, village, and conchettas. read more
