Delicious pizza, wings and chicken tenders!…read more We ordered 6 party size pizzas (4 would have been more than enough!) for our softball post game dinner! I placed the order online and asked to pick up the food by 5:30. Around 3:00, I called to just confirm the order went through and that they had sufficient time to prepare. The young lady who answered the phone was so polite and helpful. When I asked if it would be possible to move the pick up time to 5, she said "absolutely!" When my husband arrived to pick up the order, he was greeted by staff and they provided us with more than enough sauces for the wings and chicken tenders! The pizzas were DELICIOUS! Everyone enjoyed the food and we had leftovers to take back! If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely will stop and will recommend this place!!

My wife and I decided to go out for pizza and eat it on the premises versus takeout…read more We decided on the Tunxis Grille. We were somewhat on the early side so seating was not an issue. Once seated service was prompt and friendly. We ordered or drinks (local micro brew IPA and wine) and a large "The Works" pizza. I have to honestly say this is one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. The crust was thin, but perfectly crispy on the bottom and not burnt. When sliding a section off the serving tray it was semi-rigid instead of the usual spaghetti like limp dough found elsewhere. The toppings for fresh and perfectly cooked. As mentioned earlier, we ate the pizza on premises, so it came out of the oven piping hot. I am not sure if the crispiness of the thin crust on the bottom would remain if it had to be transported home in a box. If one is looking for a good thin crust pizza without getting "carbed out" on bread, the Tunxis Grille is worth a try.

I HIGHLY recommend you hold off for dinner until AFTER 6:30 and closer to 7:00. Apparently people in CT even on a Monday or Tuesday like to eat early. With that said; after two consecutive Monday nights of trying to get in here, I made it back for consecutive dining on a Wednesday and Thursday night. First night I had their Shepherds Pie (which was a strange choice since most of the menu is Italian fare) and then I had their Lasagna the next evening. BOTH dishes were ridiculously wonderful. The Shepherds Pie had the addition of cheese on top of it and the lasagna was more than enough for TWO people. Service was fire, tap beer was ice cold and the aesthetic inside had lots of brick and wood creating a relaxing atmosphere. My peers were also quite pleased with their dishes which also included the Carnivore pizza. Should I ever find myself in the area again, I will absolutely dine here again

About a year ago, I first ran across the term "ghost kitchen". They're basically a restaurant…read morewithout a waitstaff or dining space. Their niche is selling online food orders for delivery (think Grubhub, UberEats, DoorDash) or customer pickup. Their popularity steamrolled during COVID and seems to be a permanent part of the restaurant discussion going forward. There's a ghost kitchen running out of the Avon, CT Bertucci's (MrBeast Burger) and tonight I ordered takeout from Paul & Vinnie's -a ghost kitchen running out of the back of Carbone's Kitchen in Bloomfield. They sell pizza, grinders, salads, and a few desserts. I called in an order for a large ($14) "Francesca's Eggplant Grinder", advertised as "my Sicilian grandmother's eggplant, marinara, ricotta, Mootz, romano, and roasted red peppers". It was stellar !! Super tender and thin eggplant cutlets piled high on pillowy bread, plus all that cheese and sauce and goodness. We also went for a large ($23) Smop Pizza (Sausage, mushrooms, onions, peppers, Mootz, tomato sauce). The pizza was equally excellent- thin New Haven style crust, absolutely loaded with vegetables and very tasty sausage crumbles. Here's how the process worked -I called in my order and they took my credit card over the phone. I drove over, called them from the parking lot and out came the food. Simple as that. Bottom line is this, for $40 we bought a big and excellent eggplant grinder and a big and excellent pizza. We split half the grinder and had a slice apiece tonight. There are easily two more dinners for two in the fridge right now. So, six servings of delicious food for $40 works out to under $7 a meal. Good value plus good food equals a combination we are likely to repeat very soon.
