Love Alexia pizza! Their pizza crust is so good. We have had some good pizza pies there. Their garlic bread is fabulous. We have had vege pizzas but add chicken or something else. I like veges a lot and their pie is very good. The staff is great and very pleasant . Highly recommended! I would only add grilled chicken to the pie. The breaded is too heavy we found. So we will be trying other types. Alexia has been in South Windsor for a long time. We started to go there just this year after hearing so many good reviews about! Try them out! My friend recommended this as one of the best places for pizza in South Windsor, and I was definitely disappointed. It's not that the food was awful or anything, but I was legitimately afraid to eat it after watching food being prepared here. First of all, we were told half an hour when we called to place our order. Instead, it took an hour, so I had ample time to watch other food being prepared as you can see directly into the kitchen from the waiting area. Personally, I would've loved seeing everyone wearing masks, but that is obviously the choice of the individual business, so I can respect their decision. What I can't respect is watching the person preparing every pizza not only not wear gloves, but continuously touch his sweaty face then touch the pizza with his bare hands to see if it is done. Repeatedly. Over and over. He was clearly frustrated by how busy it was (which was blatantly obvious by the way he was banging around and muttering), but that is no excuse for basic sanitary practices in the kitchen. read more

With choices being slim in this area for lunch options, we decided to give this place a try. They looked to have decent reviews. A coworker and I ordered two 16 inch heated cold cut grinders. Order was ready when we arrived. Staff was friendly. The grinders were pretty damn good. Generous portions of meat and a bit of spicy heat. Price was better than Red Onion for the size. I'm looking forward to trying their pizza. Update: stopped in again for a takeout order. They were pretty busy almost right after opening. I was immediately put off by kitchen staff not using gloves. One guy was reaching into a big bucket of precooked pasta with his hands pulling it out. The woman cashier who handles dirty money was handling a grinder with no gloves. Cmon wtf? We tried Alexia Pizza because we were tired with the normal places we get pizza. Even the best spots bore you after a while. We have heard rave reviews about Alexia and there are people who swear by it. To me, it was just ok. There is a small dining area where you can order dinners like grinders and entrees. It's not fancy and most places like this are not. The pizza is Greek style and I was not aware of this before I went. Instead of being placed in a pizza oven, the dough is formed in a pizza pan which makes the crust flakey and greasy. The pie, though round is cut into pieces, not slices. The taste is ok, it is greasy and fills you up fast. I would not make this a new go to place, but I would go to break up the pattern of the other places I go. read more

Lets just say I grew up on this place, been going since is was 8 years old. This small family operated pizza place is a gem. It is certainly the best in the area. If you're looking for a pie with generous toppings, thick flaky crust, and not too much sauce you found it. Other pizza places in close proximity serve very thin pizza or pizza with too much sauce. They also serve Italian entrees and grinders. Both a great serving sizes. Favorites for me are the ziti and the italian grinder. The only downside is they don't offer delivery. The pizza is not quite thin crust it's got a more flaky consistency but they crisp it up perfectly so it's evenly golden (this got big points from mom). The downside was I had to flag down the server for beer #2 and the pizza follow-up that should occur within 2 minutes of delivery didn't happen until I completed my 3rd slice. I had no issues with the pie but come on the follow-up is critical to good service. She spaced on my credit card and completely forgot to bring it back. My wife and I love coming here. It's your classic family owned Italian restaurant. The pizza is thick and definitely very tasty. We keep it on our normal Friday night pizza rotation. I recommend trying the white pizza with garlic sauce and add some eggplant, fresh tomato and or feta cheese, man the sausage is good here also for a topping. The traditional sauce pizza is very good, this crust is not super thick, but it's medium thickness, crispy and tasty, it will not flop all around like some soggy greasy delivery slop & that's for sure! We tried Alexia Pizza a month or so ago when our favorite pizza place in Vernon was too busy. It was AMAZING! The large pizza was huge, the sauce was sweet and garlicky and delicious. It's not a thin crust pizza, but also not a super thick crust either, it's perfect. All staff were wearing masks and gloves, and they had a plastic barrier in the pay area. Everyone was very friendly and it was interesting to see right into the kitchen where the chefs were making the food. As we were handed our pizza, one of the chefs made sure to say thank you and enjoy to us. So friendly! We can't wait to come here again and try another pizza.
