This is the worst place I ever had experience, do not go to this store especially at late nights!! Shame on that dirty, drunk, crackhead old lady that works there at the lumber department. This was my second time walking in there & found her outside smoking a cigarette, as I walk in she approache me & said (BEFORE YOU WALK IN DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR LOOKING FOR) with a attitude like who say that to a customer? So the first time I walk in she was there and I ask her for shape sizes of wood to make a shelf last summer, she had the only negative attitude & didn't know what I was talking about like if she didn't want to be bother so I walk out & this time was an emergency project that I needed as I walk in I ask another person to help me & they said she the one to help you after she was done smoking her cancer stick the other Associate explain to her about me she said oh well he has to wait then as I go down to the basement with her she has a dirty mouth talking to herself in foul language then she ask me what do I need so I told her the size wood I wanted & she has a problem finding the wood and trying to chop it to size but then she had the nerve to ask me to help her so I was biting my tough & dealing with her bullshit cuz I needed that item as I called the next day in the early afternoon to talk to the supervisor to make a complaint the guy just listened to what I said & hung up after! This rude attitude I will not tolerate and has so many bad reviews on yelp already that I will report this to the city of New York for an investigation. No employees shouldn't be disrespectful giving attitude & talking foul languages in a work environment especially in front or at customers! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! Extremely deplorable customer service. Fred (guy with unkept hair) completely ignored me when I came in and waited beside him to ask a question, as he casually talked to an employee. Had to say excuse me after a full minute.BTW I was the only customer in the store. Asked them to help me fix a loose screw on my bike. He responded by saying, "you can buy a screwdriver". I explained that it was just one quick screw for my light, to which he abruptly responded, "I think I'm done with this conversation and turned his back to me". I am embarasssed for him. How could a guy in his 60's be so disrespectful to one of his routine customers?????????????????? I will never go there again. Being a business owner a street over, I will also share my experience with the local community and friends whom are developers. Fred has a lack of manners and showed deplorable behavior that night. In addition, prices are a total ripoff given the quality of the goods, and I have had several items break soon after buying them, including door locks, and wood 2 x 4's. Will be filing a report with the BBB, the city, and consumer affairs. Owner, please cleanup your store as well, I have tripped over several items left in the walkways by your staff. I want to like this place because it is unique and open 24 hours, but I swear to you, if I lived next door, it was 3am and my mother was dying and I needed a pipe wrench to save her life, I'd call a plumber before I'd go to Nuthouse Hardware. The title fits the service you'll get here. Rude, mumbling trolls prowl the isles, when they are not ignoring customers, and would just assume kill your new puppy in front of you then help you if you ask them a question. No price tags on anything, so good luck finding the best deal. Prices range from high to extraordinarily high. These people feed off the lifeblood of customers. They only consider a transaction successful if the customer leaves insulted or upset. Stand up to them! Fight the power! Seriously, if more people complained perhaps they would fix their customer service problem, (and about a dozen other problems) and New York could have a kick ass 24 hour hardware store. read more

Price Gouged -during Hurricane Irene they charged 45.00 for a channel lock flashlight with out Batteries. http://www.channellockproducts.com/index.php?sku=815314 Normally 35.00 Ive had problems with returns before but this took the cake. I went to return candles I purchased and they pointed to a sign that said will not accept returns purchased during the hurricane! Never heard that before. They were in perfect condition in there packaging not even opened and had the receipt. I even said i will accept a credit they said no. The white short guy has been helpful in the past. Everyone else are rude and stupid dont know there business. Go to Home Depot or better yet Lowes. I have reported them to the Dept of commerce and consumer affairs. Its been stated that the govt will be cracking down on this type of business practice and am sending a copy of this review as well. read more

The owner has no idea what is going on when she isn't there. They employ a crazy woman who threatened my husband and my dog! When I called up to complain to a manager he stated "she is crazy. We can't fire her because she has worked her for 20 years". Smh. My husband walked up in the morning to make some purchases as this place is open 24/7. Big mistake. Was immediately yelled at at the door and then was threatened physically because he was with a dog and tried to enter w dog. Woman came out to unload pallets with a black man from a truck. She told the man "run over the dog and then hit him!" Wow! Physically threatened him and the dog! She must be employee of the month!! Do not shop at this place!! Definitely don't bring a pet!! This place is terrible. Horrible staff. I have been here a few times in the past, the store is huge but they never have basic items and the staff is clueless. Today i was the neighborhood and my bicycle lock broke so I came here to buy a new one. I walked into the entrance and was about to ask an employee if I could leave my bike in the corner (completely out of the way).. Before I could open my mouth a squirrelly voice from across the store shouted "hey get your fcking bike out of here now!" Before i could say a word a scrawny washed up hillbilliy dead head turned meth head looking guy with a pony tail screamed across the store in front of the entire store and customers "Fuck You! Wow. I'm an understanding person, but never in my life have I been so disrespected by someone who's job it is to offer simple customer service help in their place of business. Shop employee Irene answered the phone angrily, dismissed and cut off all of my questions, told me I was wasting her time, and couldn't care less if I received the answer I needed when inquiring if they stocked a product I needed. I will be contacting superior company True Value, not to inculpate the employee, but certainly to advise any future training and or hiring procedures. read more

Check Wal-Mart.com delivery first. Naught a vacume for 80 bucks here. Wal-Mart online was selling for 39.99. Biggest rip off store. Don't trust the salespeople. They will say you have 24 hours to make a return. If a product does not work the way you expected it to the only way you can still return it will be if it is completely damaged. They forgot to tell me that part... Also they then state their is a disclaimer on the receipt about returns. Only issue is you have to buy first to see the receipt. read more

During Hurricane Irene they sold Cheap over -Priced Batteries thats one thing what they did that was pretty scumy was in order to buy the batteries you had to buy a $45.00 flashlight! list price of $30.00 Avoid this place the services is horrible they are a rude, nasty lot. The Nuthouse is a bizarre disneyland of home goods. The amount and variety of inventory is pretty outrageous, it's open 24/7, and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. You could probably build a house top-to-bottom from this one store. Or you can buy an ice cream maker at 4:00am. Highly recommended. read more
