The ladies at the front desk when I first came in, were quick to give me instructions on how to sign in and where to go to find her room. One lady even walked with me to the elevator and to the room to be sure that I found it. An employee came in to help her use the restroom while I was there and he seemed nice as well. I walked with her down to dinner and there was a woman working in the eating area who also seemed very friendly and cheerful. It seems like the employees really have a love and passion for what they do here. My grandmother's room also seems very cozy and homey. Only reason I left a star off is because my grandpa has said that some of the cleaning staff (He believes) have stolen some of my grandmother's belongings, such as her phone charger and other personal items. For the price that residents and their families pay for care here, it's really sad that this slips through the cracks and doesn't get corrected.... My grandfather and mother have mentioned this to the staff and were told the cleaning staff is a separate organization from them and they can't do anything. Seems like a cop out answer to me because someone is paying this company and there are other companies in town, that may not steal they could use.... So, they could at least notify this company that this is happening..... That being said, I mostly feel very confident that she's being well cared for and is safe here and that it's a wonderful facility. I saw some of the other residents there and they seemed happy.

HOWEVER, the quality of day to day care was absolutely horrible and frightening for my mom and my daughter who stayed with her the first 6 days of her care. After day one, my mom wanted to leave by day two she was so determined to leave she went above and beyond what PT and OT were asking her to do so she could get out asap. She went in on a Monday and left that Thursday the same week. She really needed 2 weeks of care after a major abdominal surgery. In addition to poor care, their food was something from the 1950's - a lot fried, greasy, salty food and sugary desserts!! My mom had 2 feet of her small intestines taken out and needed to be on a diet that was completely the opposite of what they served. My mom eats healthy foods and needed a lactose-free, gluten-free, low sodium, no sugar diet and this place could not meet her dietary needs. I could not believe the type of unhealthy food they served the elderly. Thankfully my daughter was there to advocate for her. Unfortunately, the staff did not care. Multiple times they got my mom's food wrong, even after we were told it would be changed. I even had some food delivered from the local grocery store that would meet her dietary needs and they still got it wrong. Multiple times, my daughter was the one helping her to the bathroom, giving her a shower, and getting her the food she needed. My daughter should have been the one getting paid because she did the majority of their work for them. Housekeeping, especially in the bathrooms, was not sanitary. If my daughter had not been there, I truly believe my mother's health would have declined because she would not have been able to eat, she would not have been able to get to the bathroom in time or have a clean bathroom to do her business, and they would have just kept her doped up on meds. I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy.

This type of work is extremely challenging as you have hundreds of patients and each with unique demands and challenges. Their professional staff care for each patient with genuine interest and concern. If there is something being missed and the patient or their sponsors will communicate that need to the staff, they will take care of the issue in a timely and professional manner-- with a welcoming attitude and a smile. The upbeat, positive attitude of the employees is one of the primary attributes that sets them apart from other facilities . The exercise staff is truly the best. They work to help the patients improve physically and mentally , and they do it in a manner that makes the patients feel important. They don't just go through the motions in their workouts; as much as the physical challenges they provide, they provided warmth and emotional encouragement at the same time. If the patients want help and want to improve, they will get what they need from these professionals. The food is excellent and the dining room is always bright and extremely clean. If you ask they, will adjust food requests to your taste and needs. The entire facility is kept clean and spotless and even the cleaning and support staff have a positive and helpful attitude. They host daily games, challenges, entertainments to help improve the spirits of all the patients that want to participate. When my time comes Five Points is were I'll get checked in ; I've seen almost every facility in Amarillo. I was establishing myself as a new patient. Dr. Goetz covered all the basics, and asked if I had any concerns. She also advised me to go to Quest for bloodwork even though I could have the blood drawn in-house and sent to Quest. Having the blood drawn at NWPG would cost my insurance for the blood draw, whereas the agreement with Quest covers the draw as well as the tests. All in all I'm quite happy to have Dr. Susan Goetz as my new PCP.

Her bedside manner is horrid. If the easy answer does not solve the health issue, she blows it off and refuses to discuss it further. I tried in three different appointments to discuss with her a problem that is quite serious to me, painful and incredibly inconvenient. She did one test, the super easy go-to test, and it was normal, so she would not discuss with me any more even though I tried asking again for desperately needed help on two subsequent visits. I finally called the office this week begging for her to call me in a prescription for something I took years ago for the very same issue, a medicine I tried discussing with her the first time I mentioned the problem, and she refused to do anything at all without me coming in for an actual visit. Yet a fourth visit (a.k.a. more money in her pocket) to discuss something I have already tried three times to talk with her about the last two and a half months! Ridiculous. I have another very serious health concern with tremendous, persistent headaches. She had me undergo a CT which was normal, so she will not talk with me about that any further. She only gave me a single round of muscle relaxers and no further assistance or efforts to get to the root of the problem because the CT was normal. She will not even talk with me about it now. The head is a not a muscle and the muscle relaxers she prescribed for two weeks of pain relief have provided me zero relief. It took me a year and a half to find her, and I guarantee it will not take anywhere near that long to replace her. This is flat unacceptable behavior by a physician. I highly doubt she will ever see or be made aware of my review as it seems there is someone within the office appointed to respond to reviews and simply placate those of us who have had negative experiences by saying the behavior is "unacceptable" or they "will look into it". They also say to call the office to discuss it. I have already done that, a few times, to no avail. It is clear we are only being paid lip service otherwise she would have been fired or held to account long ago and something would have changed. Northwest is doing themselves a huge disservice in keeping her on staff. I now have no intention of seeing any other physician in an office owned and operated by NWTH if she fits within their standards of acceptable behavior. The only good thing I can say about Dr. Goetz's practice is that the time in the waiting room and in the exam room is relatively short. Based on my own personal experience, I can definitely see why. No one else is there to see her! It pains me to refer to her as "Dr." as I feel I am doing a tremendous disservice to medicine. I do not care how many years she had to go to school or how much her loans were. That does not give her any right at all to treat patients as she does. Zero right. As a side note, when I told her she was highly recommended, she did not even acknowledge my statement. Not even so much as a thank you or that she even heard me. I should have known then to RUN. Bedside manner less than zero of five stars Quality of care less than zero of five stars Time in waiting room and exam room five of five stars Compassion and common courtesy less than zero of five stars Very highly DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
