Loved my experience at Núria today! I was craving a Big Mac after my 3-hour city walk today but I am so glad it smelled so bad that prompted me to enter next door at the corner. This is how I ended up getting the Menú del dia at this restaurant that has been in business since 1925. I was impressed by the price that included a glass of wine too. I had the salad as first and it was amazing. Flavor, composition, quality of the ingredients. Second was the bacallà a la llama (cod with baked potatoes and peppers). Tons of nice cooked garlic. Loved it. It was fabulous. Finally the crema catalana doe dessert. Service was excellent, attentive, and considerate as I arrived late and still they honored the menu offer instead of a la carte. This is not just a review. It's a warning to all those who are thinking about supporting this place. First, their customer service is horrible. They treat you like you come to get free food. Both staff and manager don't give a craps about customer. The foods are worse than any restaurant we've ever eaten. We ordered 3 steaks. We specifically telling the server that we want medium rare. They brought us all well done. We asked them to change, then they brought us 3 uncooked steak plus the attitude. We ended up trashed them all. A couple from our group, including me, didn't appreciate the Seafood Paella, because it wasn't tasty. All the vegetables that went in the Vegetarian Paella, should have at least have SOME vegetables. Escorted downstairs to a lovely table with excellent service. we had water open on the table and wine glasses for all. after taking orders for red white sangria or sodas, wait staff brought bottles of their own wine which was quite good. We had a pre-fixe menu of bread, chicken wings, potatoes, and paella. The entree was flavorful and well made (not too dry, not burned), made for us! This was my place to go during my stay in Barcelona. Great location to begin with, the pancakes were delicious, it took me back to my childhood, the bagel with egg and the combination of avocado and hummus were just perfect. My server Angeles did a great job, happy and smiling explained the menu for us and her recommendations were spot on. We noticed the food on the menu for dinner and I returned with my family. Horrible service, absolutely awful. Table next to us sat at the same time, ordered and received their food before even taking our drink order. We finally order appetizers, beers, and paella, only to receive our appetizers with the food. When the food arrived after watching it sit on a tray for 5 min at the wait station, I asked for a second beer, for which the waitress grabbed my glass before it was even empty, set it at the wait station and never came back. Not ever. Walked past us literally a dozen times not bothering to notice that there was only one drink glass on the entire table and me eating the whole meal with nothing to drink. Then the check comes after asking for it, fine, it's Spain, only to see charge for a second beer I never received, which she then argues with me when there's not even a second glass for me on the bloody table!?! Nearly 10min later someone else comes to deliver our correct bill while our waitress is milling about placing new place settings.....the area was nearly empty save for a large group on the other side of the restaurant. In the 3 days in Barcelona, went here twice. The service was super friendly and I thought the food was excellent. The first night we had Albert as our waiter and he loaded us up! A couple freebies and he and my hubby exchanged stories. My husband is fluent in Spanish so while Catalan is the official language of that area, everyone speaks Spanish. When visiting Barcelona Nuria was a great place it had a small restaurant and lounge vibe to it. The waiter was very observant with us and was very accommodating. He was fast and explained the menu perfectly. The Aperol Spritz tasted amazing. The Pepperoni Pizza was so delicious and tasted different, it felt so light not like the pizza in America, the only problem with the pizza was it was not cut into pieces. The Paella was also very good and had a lot of flavor to it and the best part was it was made for one person unlike places that make it for two people. The crispy Spicy wings were ok but not great, they were not spicy at all and need a touch of flavor. The Salmon tasted good but I have had better, also they put the skin of the Salmon face down when it should have been face up, because of that the Salmon skin tasted burnt. The Tiramisu was handmade and it tasted so fresh and delicious. read more

Tourist trap. And really the only bad service we experienced in Barcelona....probably because we were tourists. It's in a great location and the inside is beautiful. The sangria was delicious as well and we were able to sit for a while and enjoy it without being rushed. We ordered two tapas: iberic ham and ham croquettes which were both good but nothing to write home about. For our meal, my friend and I wanted to share one order of the chicken paella (not two separate orders). Isn't paella supposed to be shared anyways?! When I double checked with our server to make sure he only wrote down one order he said he wrote down two and that the portion is small and only enough for one. Why he made this decision for us was beyond me.... He rudely convinced us to order separately so we got one chicken and one seafood. Obviously, when our food came we found that the portion was indeed big and suitable for sharing... *sigh* Okay so fine - we ended up with more food than expected. It was OKAY. We had better chicken paella elsewhere but it was still good. My friend was not happy with her seafood paella and barely touched it. At this point we were eating just to eat. Hmm. Where do I start? Shall I say tourist trap? The pepperoni pizza I ordered was so bland sad and flavorless :( I think I have had microwaved pizza that tasted better than that. Also, many servers do not know English so good luck if you do not know Catalan or Spanish. My family also tried the Neapolitan pasta and pasta Carbonara. Both again bland and sad. The presentation of food is okay but wow the food just tasted bad :/ best thing was some sort of salad they got. We came across this restaurant on our way to the market, but it's closed in Sunday's, so we decided to sit down and grab some lunch here. It's surprisingly good! Considering the touristy location, their food was very very decent. We ordered a meat plate, a spaghetti, a seafood paella, and a seafood and meat paella. All were very good, especially the 2 paellas. Frankly, it's been the best paella I've had in Spain so far, and I never thought it would be in this restaurant. The two tastes very different, actually. I personally liked the one with meat more, it's got a very fresh and tasty flavor to it. My friend likes the seafood one better because it's very seafoody with solid mussels, prawns, and squid. It's seems like a really cute place but obviously considering it's location it pricey and catering to tourist. We had calamari and some salad and a few other tapas like stuff. We thought calamari was very tasty but everything else was just average and nothing special. If you're desperate for food then this is decent otherwise I would just go further down and turn off one of the side streets. To be honest, my mom ran into the Burger King next door and came out very happy with her fries! (I know I try never to go to a place I can find in the States but my mom was desperate. First day in Barcelona, the fam and I grabbed lunch after exploring La Rambla. It's in a busy part of La Rambla so I would imagine it caters mainly tourists. But there's nothing wrong with that! The portion size is good but it lacked flavor and I'm pretty sure it was previously frozen. The calamari was very chewy so I didn't eat much of it. Drinks were small and weak. Decent place to have a sit down lunch in a great location. The restaurant is cute and has a very modern, Parisian feel. The staff are extremely prepared to interact with foreigners, as they had menus in both Spanish and English and could converse with us in both languages. I ordered the menu Del dia with two other friends. The portions are huge and the prices are very fair. I paid 12,90 euros for a cream of vegetable soup, meat and seafood paella, water, bread rolls, and a raspberry lemon sorbet. The cream of vegetable soup was pretty good, but had a weird aftertaste. It was accompanied by the crispest croutons that I've ever had and was finished off by a dollop of cream. The paella followed. The seafood wasn't incredibly fresh but I was content with it given the price. The rice and as a little too hard and came in clumps and didn't have the flavor that id expect from such an aromatic dish. The sorbet was light and airy and was perfect to finish off my meal. It didn't stick to the pan well & it was missing asparagus. The cousin made it a point to get the asparagus the menu promised so the waiter brought out 2 asparagus stalks for us about 15 minutes after everyone had finished eating. They have fun cartoon character paper placemats. The interior of the restaurant is very cool & beautiful (checked floors, two story restaurant, mirror walls). I believe there were a couple of tables outside for outdoor dining. They offer a lot of typical Spanish foods like tapas here so it's a great spot to try for tourists in the area who want a sample of different Spanish foods. We had to take a taxi to La Rambla as the rain showers were somewhat heavy. Located within minutes of our hotel, this two story restaurant was surprisingly one of the only places to have tapas within the area. It was actually easier to spot a McDs up the street than to find tapas in Barcelona? C'mon now. I'm sure that if we had the time going to La Boqueria down a few more blocks would've done so. We ordered several tapas. jamon, muscles done in olive oil, cheese, bread with tomato spread calamari and squid and a spanish potato and onion omelet. The seafood was unlike anything we get in america. You can taste the sea water and salt in the squid and the cheese was definitely goat cheese. Oh my I was heaven. And well I also managed to get full with such a spread. This place is local, and has been around quite awhile. It's a relatively modern design inside and the service was excellent. Spaniards take forever to do things. I suspect that they too are on Filipino time perhaps. Unlike in the US where the waiter gives you your check during dinner, the Spanish seem to take just as long with this issue. Mainly since people aren't in a hurry to leave. Though the service of checking on you and clearing the table is very very quick. We came on a busy night and our waiter was still on top of things. Anyhow yes, it is acceptable if you just hang around after eating and paying your bill. There we're little ones asleep in their parent's arms when we we're arriving and leaving. this might have been the worst meal that i have had in memory. pan con tomate and patatas bravas are pretty hard to mess up - so those were fine... the chorizo "frito" was edible - but why would you ever want to fry a chorizo... it's like fried lobster in my opinion - it's perfect before - why would you want to destroy it. we also ordered sepia (cuttlefish) and chiparones (calamaris) a la plancha. they both came in the same pseudo olive oil sauce with floaty green specs that i imagine they try to play off as spices or seasoning or herbs... but they are just green. no flavor. we squeezed the lemons until their last drop to try to get any flavor into them whatsoever... and then there was the texture... ugh. we were tired from walking all day and thought we could grab a bite - knowing it was touristy food - but come on - tourists are people... they need to eat real food - even if it's a rip off sometimes. but the mcdonalds next store would have been a better option.
