    Tiramisu

This is a quaint restaurant that serves some excellent Spanish dishes. Our waiter was especially helpful because of our lack of experience with this cuisine. He explained the menu and even had pictures on his phone. He left his phone at our table while we navigated the menu. Our party of four decided on two tapas, a pan of Paella, and an entree of grilled chicken. It was a good balance and portion for us. The tapas that we shared were the Patatas Bravass Xorus and the Croquetas Caseras 6Uds. My favorite of the two was the Patatas. The patatas were topped with a wonderfully flavorful sauce. The croquetas were fried balls of minced meat. They are also good. Paella is the signature dish of Spain. We ordered the Paella De Pelados. It is the seafood paella with rice, and what I consider the traditional paella. It was very good. For our grilled meat dish, we ordered the Secreto De Ibérico Mariando a la Brasa. This is grilled chicken and it came with grilled eggplant, tomatoes, and red peppers. The chicken was thin slices of breast meat that were marinated. Very flavorful. For dessert we shared the tiramisu. It is prepared and presented a small jar to keep the layers together. It was yummy.

My friend and I were on the hunt for some food. However, I have to gripe about how several of the restaurants pages on Yelp weren't up to date. I have to admit, we eventually just started using another platform because too many times we found incorrect hours or businesses closed and not updated on Yelp. Anyway, we ended up at Xorus. And it was a wonderful experience. From the service to the food, and even the wealth of knowledge shared by both the server (who we thought was the owner & one of the owners as well) about Catalonian Cuisine. First off - staff spoke English. I bring that up not because it was a requirement for me, but to share for those who might. They were so friendly - taking their time to explain the dishes and the differences between Catalonian and Spanish dishes as well as the regional dishes. Our server was so passionate about what he was doing that we both assumed he was the owner. When we asked him - he shared that he's merely a humble server. But then the owner who was also helping us slid right in while our server was busy tending to the other patrons. So, to the food - I enjoyed the food though they were definitely different from what I'm used to. Dishes were seasoned evenly and lightly and worked for my taste buds. See pics. I had a great experience and I'd go back to try their other dishes if I so happened to find my way back to Barcelona.

This restaurant is located on the section Las Ramblas that is in the Poblenou neighborhood. We really enjoyed the outdoor eating area and the people watching. Food was tasty and competitively priced in comparison to other restaurants in the area. The chorizo was out of this world, we also really liked their take on patatas bravas. We got a great garden salad with tuna and the Catalan bread was the bomb! Only thing not outstanding was actually the seafood paella. It came out looking really pretty and smelled great but was way over salted. Our server was trying to veer us towards a Chardonnay that was on the wine list but we really wanted to try something from Catalunya. We highly recommend the Cossetenia, crisp and light with a medium dryness.

Delicious spot on Rambla Poblaneu in Barcelona. Recommended as a local favorite by staff at our hotel. Xorus did not disappoint. Every dish was delicious. Our first meal- Catalan Tomato Bread, Bravas Potatoes, Grilled Galatian Octopus, Squid Andalusian Style and, of course, Seafood Paella. Our waiter was fabulous suggesting house favorites. Great local wine. We will be back.

Awesome service and food, everything is delish. And did I mention how low the prices are compare to other place with lower food quality and okay service?

This restaurant was nearby the hotel we were staying by and was so delicious. Everything you can tell was freshly prepared and the service was great. I ate the seafood paella and the flavor was the best. We also had two half liters of both sangrias. Our other family members had a skirt steak plate and a mixed meat plate. We made reservations and were seated quickly.

    Wonderful dessert

If I could describe this place is that the food is made for locals (super authentic) but the service is great for tourists (they explain things and are super kind and speak English) !!! After a long few days of mediocre food in Barcelona we were ready to give up. But my professor and top Yelp review on this page and we decided to give it a try. IT WAS WONDERFUL!! Like I've never left a review on Yelp before but I feel compelled too. We had patatas bravas (our favorite!!!!!) the traditional toast and tomato/garlic/ olive oil The grilled shrimp tapas too, and the grilled vegetables were executed super well. For desert this fluffy cake thing that was fabulous SERVERS/ STAFF WERE AWESOME. So kind, and when we asked they explained all the different dishes and taught us how to eat them. I will say the walk from the downtown Barcelona area was slightly scary as two young girls so maybe Uber, we walked through so interesting streets. But the neighborhood it's in is fun and local. Overall it's just all homemade and authentic and simple but so good. My only wish was we found this place earlier on our trip we would have surely eaten it again.

My first visit to Barcelona and I am very impressed with Xorus. The store front is fairly small (you might even walk by it) but the cafe seating in the middle of la Ramble del Poblenou gave away their location. As we started examining the posted menu, one of the staff brought us a menu with English translations on it. After we were seated, the server who helped us spoke to us in English, which greatly helped our ordering. We picked 2 tapas: chiperones (small squid, a local specialty) and Jamon Iberico (ham, a Spain thing) plus with had bread smeared withg garlic, tomato and oil (the local way to do it) My photos are sparse because the server was sharing on what food were local and how to eat like a local during the entire meal. Something everyone in our group wanted. My main course was the Secret of the Iberian Marinated Grill with grilled vegetables. It came to my table straight from the grill and is good. Carnivore satisfied. If I have the chance I will come back, but as the temperatures drop for the winter, I am going to have to eat indoors next time.

I feel compelled to write a review. The paella was BEYOND salty and the food was so bad I couldn't even finish more than two bites. The waiter also kept sneezing and rubbing his nose on his hands I felt so grossed out

Food was absolutely delicious, our table was silently eating because it was that amazing we were just stuffing our faces!!

    Tiramisu!

Amazing! This is our Spanish food in Barcelona, it's really impressive us! Specially for the ham! SOoooo good!

Salad with salmon, salmon bites, squid and octopus

Amazing food, fabulous wait staff... they want you to eat and drink well so will go out of their way to accommodate. I ordered a bottle of wine for the table... didn't really like it so they let me taste test 2 others before bringing the one I liked! Food is super tasty!

Even if without time to sit down and eat, do buy some cheese to go! We did that and then returned for a proper dinner. The atmosphere was so cozy and makes me feel like it's Christmas there everyday! The service is so kind and accommodating. We shared three incredible salads (one with bufalo mozzarella, one with mushrooms, and the third with orange and chili, as well as shared a large cheese plate of cheeses from Northern Spain. Wow! Everything was absolutely divine! All of the salads were incredible (and it was my first and last bite of jamon iberico while in Barcelona as I'm vegetarian and made an exception of a bite here in order to experience the culinary history of Barcelona... and I am so glad I did this here as my cousin who lives near the restaurant confirmed it is among the best Iberico he had ever eaten). The Rose was incredible and they offer an extensive wine list. The cheeses were unforgettable dekicious. It was such a delicious, beautiful and memorable dinner with such lovely company and our last dinner together in Barcelona this trip. Thank you so much! We hope one day soon to return to Barcelona from NYC!

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

On my first visit, I ordered the Crusty, soft-textured coca bread with tomato and virgin olive oil. I love that the Olive Oil is brought to the table to use as you wish. The bread was rubbed with tomato and really nice. I also got the Padrón peppers. I'd never had them before and they were tasty. Not at all hot but there were a bunch of them - definitely enough for two or more. I ate a handful of them. Next, I got the Caramelised goat cheese salad with walnuts, crispy onion, cherry tomatoes, mango, and honey vinaigrette. What a great salad! I will be making this at home I loved it so much. And lastly, I got the Chilled salmorejo soup with Ibérico ham, hard-boiled egg, and basil. I loved that soup. It was so fresh and tasty. I thought about that soup the entire trip. On my second trip, we started with the Baked camembert with honey, pink pepper, and crusty bread. It was so good. A perfect start with creamy cheese, the crunch of peppercorns and the sweet honey. I chose the Cod loin with stewed Mediterranean vegetables and aïoli au gratin for dinner. It was excellent. The vegetables were stewed in tomatoes, the fish was tender and flavorful and the au gratin was a rich, creamy topper. My partner got the Oxtail braised in red wine with pureed potato. I don't ever remember having oxtail so I didn't know what to expect. It had a roast beef kind of texture with a brown gravy (not winey at all) atop mashed potatoes. It was different but we both liked it. For dessert we got the Nutella foam with banana ice cream and cookies which doesn't look very appetizing but is a layering of puddings. It was ok. Not exactly what I was expecting. My partner got the Textures of Chocolate: chocolate fondant, white chocolate sauce, brownie, dark chocolate ice cream and cocoa crumble. She had a similar experience. It wasn't exactly what she was expecting but it was a sweet ending. The service at Casa Carmen Platillos was excellent both times. I had the same server on both trips and she was great - very nice and efficient. This is a great, homemade food restaurant. I loved it.
