On my second trip, we started with the Baked camembert with honey, pink pepper, and crusty bread. It was so good. A perfect start with creamy cheese, the crunch of peppercorns and the sweet honey. I chose the Cod loin with stewed Mediterranean vegetables and aïoli au gratin for dinner. It was excellent. The vegetables were stewed in tomatoes, the fish was tender and flavorful and the au gratin was a rich, creamy topper. My partner got the Oxtail braised in red wine with pureed potato. I don't ever remember having oxtail so I didn't know what to expect. It had a roast beef kind of texture with a brown gravy (not winey at all) atop mashed potatoes. It was different but we both liked it. For dessert we got the Nutella foam with banana ice cream and cookies which doesn't look very appetizing but is a layering of puddings. It was ok. Not exactly what I was expecting. My partner got the Textures of Chocolate: chocolate fondant, white chocolate sauce, brownie, dark chocolate ice cream and cocoa crumble. She had a similar experience. It wasn't exactly what she was expecting but it was a sweet ending. The service at Casa Carmen Platillos was excellent both times.
