Loves this hidden gem. I am staying at thr Marriott just a short walk away. Staff is super friendky and worked with my limited Spanish vocabulary. Came here because of the reviews and the place was everything the reviews said and more! Free olives, hot bread best I've had all week, cava and he helped me find something I can eat with my dietary restrictions! A must when in Barcelona!!

5th star is for the service and the bread. Not kidding. It's really good bread. The food and total experience were 4+ star level as well. The staff were very patient with our lack of spanish language skills and helped explain the menu in English as best they could. Which is also a plus--local places that don't offer English menus are a treat and usually far more authentic. The menu (written on a chalkboard) changes regularly so won't go into great detail on each dish. We enjoyed the charcuterie plate a lot (where the bread comes into play). The duck margaret and fish dish were also quite good. If you are looking for a genuine neighborhood restaurant with great food, nice wine and very chill atmosphere--this is an excellent option. Not touristy in the least.

We had the best experience at Traspaso for a nice dinner in the Poblenou neighborhood. We were greeted with warm service from who we assumed was the owner or manager. He mostly spoke Spanish, with some English, and graciously accommodated my elementary Spanish language skills. We ordered the mushroom croquetas, salmon, and tuna tartare salad. We were given complementary olives and fresh bread from the oven (which was readily replenished after our server learned about our love for bread). He told us about his background, recommended things to do in Barcelona, and made us feel welcome and valued. The croquetas were crispy and flavorful. The salmon was done very well, and we especially liked the sauce and rice. The salad was super fresh and the tuna portion was generous. We were even gifted a cheesecake at the end! Another favorite was a local beer that our server recommended. Such a memorable night in Barcelona that made us feel so warm, happy, and satisfied!

The first meal we had in Spain and just amazing. Bread is super tender and fresh. We ordered some dishes based on recommendation by the owner. Steak, fish and snacks. All prefect!!!

First night in Barcelona and found this spot on yelp. I was a little nervous because all reviews were in Spanish. Sure enough when we got there everything was in Spanish. One of the employees very kindly and patiently described all the menu items as best she could in English. We ordered the tuna and duck confit. Both were delicious! This is definitely a locals spot, with a great atmosphere. The dessert was a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream that was to die for. I highly recommend this place!

Duck confit by Italian Chef Jacopo is still one of the more memorable dishes we had in Barcelona.

Even if without time to sit down and eat, do buy some cheese to go! We did that and then returned for a proper dinner. The atmosphere was so cozy and makes me feel like it's Christmas there everyday! The service is so kind and accommodating. We shared three incredible salads (one with bufalo mozzarella, one with mushrooms, and the third with orange and chili, as well as shared a large cheese plate of cheeses from Northern Spain. Wow! Everything was absolutely divine! All of the salads were incredible (and it was my first and last bite of jamon iberico while in Barcelona as I'm vegetarian and made an exception of a bite here in order to experience the culinary history of Barcelona... and I am so glad I did this here as my cousin who lives near the restaurant confirmed it is among the best Iberico he had ever eaten). The Rose was incredible and they offer an extensive wine list. The cheeses were unforgettable dekicious. It was such a delicious, beautiful and memorable dinner with such lovely company and our last dinner together in Barcelona this trip. Thank you so much! We hope one day soon to return to Barcelona from NYC!

The food was absolutely amazing. I had a Tebia salad. I honestly can't say I've been so excited over a salad. It had a wonderful aray of light toppings with a hot host cheese on toast. It was delightful and rich with the semisweet salad. My spouse had the fondue and a toast with iberco ham. The tiramisu was not to sweet yet creamy and delicate. Great service, great meal, great start to our trip to Barcelona. Best meal yet in Spain

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. For this big restaurant caliber, it's pretty crowded yet they do a good job with a fast turnaround. We did the early Dinner and by the time we got out there was already a long line for late Diners. The fact that even after a decade, it's rare that I go back to the same spot let alone they're still around after all these years. You already know that tells a lot and I feel bad for those who didn't have the same great experience, hope they give it another shot. See y'all soon! Salut, Vermouth!

My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

High chairs for my 2 young children were provided. Our food came out lukewarm. After reviewing the menu and tasting the food we ordered, my husband and I were confused about the concept of the restaurant- maybe because there's was too much fusion of cuisines on the menu? Our favorite part of the meal was the Carmen morena red house wine.

On my first visit, I ordered the Crusty, soft-textured coca bread with tomato and virgin olive oil. I love that the Olive Oil is brought to the table to use as you wish. The bread was rubbed with tomato and really nice. I also got the Padrón peppers. I'd never had them before and they were tasty. Not at all hot but there were a bunch of them - definitely enough for two or more. I ate a handful of them. Next, I got the Caramelised goat cheese salad with walnuts, crispy onion, cherry tomatoes, mango, and honey vinaigrette. What a great salad! I will be making this at home I loved it so much. And lastly, I got the Chilled salmorejo soup with Ibérico ham, hard-boiled egg, and basil. I loved that soup. It was so fresh and tasty. I thought about that soup the entire trip. On my second trip, we started with the Baked camembert with honey, pink pepper, and crusty bread. It was so good. A perfect start with creamy cheese, the crunch of peppercorns and the sweet honey. I chose the Cod loin with stewed Mediterranean vegetables and aïoli au gratin for dinner. It was excellent. The vegetables were stewed in tomatoes, the fish was tender and flavorful and the au gratin was a rich, creamy topper. My partner got the Oxtail braised in red wine with pureed potato. I don't ever remember having oxtail so I didn't know what to expect. It had a roast beef kind of texture with a brown gravy (not winey at all) atop mashed potatoes. It was different but we both liked it. For dessert we got the Nutella foam with banana ice cream and cookies which doesn't look very appetizing but is a layering of puddings. It was ok. Not exactly what I was expecting. My partner got the Textures of Chocolate: chocolate fondant, white chocolate sauce, brownie, dark chocolate ice cream and cocoa crumble. She had a similar experience. It wasn't exactly what she was expecting but it was a sweet ending. The service at Casa Carmen Platillos was excellent both times. I had the same server on both trips and she was great - very nice and efficient. This is a great, homemade food restaurant. I loved it.
