Whatever you do, EAT HERE. We walked in and the server was super friendly and tried to accomodate us without reservations. The restaurant is so pretty and lively. Just minutes from Arco de Triunfo so you can do both! The sangria was amazing and the food was devine. I got the burger and it was cooked to perfection. It was juicy and delicious. I can't remember what my friend had but it was also delicious. The coolest part? There's a secret speak easy!!! Ask the waitress about it and you'll get a key to get in. First time to Casa Rafols and am impressed. Casa Rafols is a trendy restaurant that offers so many tapas and sangria options. It's conveniently located next to the train station Estacion del Nord. A few dishes recommended included: pasta risotto with black truffle, grilled beef on hot iron and apple pie with creme. We found out tapas restaurants don't regularly have mixed greens salad. They have potato salad, but we don't quite like how it's prepared. Regardless, it's a fun place to check out. I'd recommend going to cas Rafols! read more

Reminds me of a cute diner - the decor is ok, but the tables are small. Service is consistent. Note that the bathroom is downstairs and is another instance of a bathroom where both the male and female stalls are right next to each other and it's almost a semi-shared space. A few dishes to note - 1) the bread is a build-your-own tomato bread. You have to peel and cut the garlic yourself and smash your own tomatoes onto the bread. It was kind of an odd experience - the only other time I make my own food at a restaurant is when I'm at a Korean BBQ. 2) the octopus was good but slightly chewy and over cooked. 3) they cannot give you tiramisu to go, as it's made in a container, which I don't understand why it cannot be scooped out. read more

The food was good. My Fiancé had the Broccoli salad and we ordered the olives for starter. We had the Papas Braves. They were very good. I had the Homemade Sardines with peppers on bread. Barcelona has so many delicious restaurants. Casa Rafols is one not to be missed. The ambience is amazing. The service will wow you, and the food will make you come back for more. We ordered their prefix which came in two dishes, the seafood prawns and beef stew. Both were just excellent and flavorful. Their house beer was also excellent. Like many others, we came here after Casa Lolea was booked up. We were seated right away and given menus. All throughout the night, our server was super attentive and friendly. We started with a bottle of the rose sangria - yummy but very light in alcohol. We ordered the croquettes, the octopus, patatas bravas and the monkfish special. The octopus probably stood out the most, as the meat was super tender and the pumpkin purée was delicious. Unfortunately, our croquettes were cold in the middle so we did have to send them back. The other dishes were decent but nothing extraordinary. For dessert, we ordered the cheesecake and the apple dessert. The cheesecake was okay but i really liked the apple one. It had fresh apple with a crisp crust on the bottom, and some ice cream. Overall a decent place but nothing to brag about. read more

Our hotel concierge booked this restaurant for us. With little expectation, it turned out to be one of the best evening that we had in Spain. You won't go wrong with anything in the menu. Most importantly, Vicky, the young lady who took care us made it such an amazing experience. She was encouraging my 13-years old to practice his Spanish, which was absolutely so much fun for him and all of us. Total perfection. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, you have no doubt you are in the hands of professionals. The service is top notch. Momentary wait for a table? Here, have a small free glass of beer. The servers whirl back frequently, making sure no need goes unattended. I got the patatas bravas (5.50), the lomo bajo (steak - 7.70 for 100gr), pan y tomate (4.90), and jamon ibérico (11.90 for a 1/2 portion - good for two people). Standard tapas fare, but done so, so well. An interesting thing about the pan y tomate (tomato bread) here is that they have you make it yourself. Cut a garlic clove, rub it on the bread to your heart's desire, cut a tomato in half, rub that all over, then add salt and olive oil to taste. At first, I thought it was a bit annoying to have to do this myself but the awesome thing is that YOU get to control the amount of all that goodness that you eat. Extra garlic? Your call! Extra salt? No salt? You decide. It's the kind of thing that would be fun in a group. I ended the meal with a fantastic deconstructed apple tart. You are guaranteed to enjoy your meal here. The servers are friendly, the food is outstanding, the kitchen is open until midnight(!), and everyone here has a smile on their face. We tried to get into the original branch, Cafe Lolea, but due to its overwhelming popularity we couldn't get a table. They were kind enough to hand me a card with a map to their newest location which was two blocks away assuring me we'd love it as it was quite similar to Cafe Lolea, and wished us luck! Luck was on our side and we snagged a table. We were greeted with a welcome drink, in this case, a sparkling rose, as we waited for the table. The staff were all very friendly, offered our little one some crayons and suggested some popular tapas. The ambiance is a little more stark and modern compared to Cafe Lolea, but still nice, being a converted hardware store. We ordered a number of dishes and were impressed with practically all of them. Ham croquettes and off menu mushroom croquettes were delicious. They also offer the creamy truffle risotto, which is a must and something I'd happily eat on its own as a main. We also ordered slow cooked and tender beef cheeks, patatas bravas and calamares. The only thing i wouldn't order again would be the calamares as their version sees the body kept as a whole and stuffed with black rice with a side of black onions, i found it a bit overwhelming. For dessert we got the apple pie topped with creme brulee and dark choc lava cake with orange sorbet, absolutely delicious!! I cannot say anything bad as we had a wonderful dining experience here and couldn't recommend it more. We got lucky, but if you have time, book ahead. Goddamn that squid ink risotto with prawns and cuttlefish was to dieeeee for. Amazingly flavorful and not overly fishy. The octopus I had was also just spot on tender and flavorful. Everything I had was just packed with fresh ingredients and excellently seasoned except for the tuna potato salad. You can definitely skip that. Visiting from Richmond, Virginia. My girlfriend and I were welcomed and made to feel at home as soon as we broke through the door. The restaurant was full, which wasn't surprising for a Friday night. Our only option were seats at the bar and that was totally fine by us. Upon sitting down we were instantly greeted by a friendly, suggestive, helpful and fun Victoria who took care of our every need. The food was delicious and the the drinks hit the spot. The truffle risotto is money! Ambiance was not lacking here. I highly suggest stopping in for some tapas or cocktail. Perfect round table for a party of six with excellent service, patient with our semi-drunken happy candor. Food - the outstanding dishes were the truffle risotto, steak tartare and patatas bravas (I would consider myself a patatas bravas expert going by how much I have consumed). I came here because it was on Eater's list of the 38 essential restaurants in Barcelona, but it didn't seem very essential to me unfortunately. The food was okay, but sub-par compared to the other food I've had so far in Barcelona. I had sardines that weren't amazing, tuna crudo that also wasn't as delicious as I hoped, and the truffle risotto, which was quite good but left me feeling too full. Our experience at Casa Rafols tonight really let us down, the food was amazing as I remembered it to be but usually I come to Spain for work every few years and I've always had amazing dining experiences here. To celebrate coming back to Spain after Covid for work, my significant other and I came here on our first night staying in Barcelona. It seemed our server went out of his way to be unfriendly. When he got our Order they brought out the wrong thing so we made sure not to eat it and then he was able to get the burrata we ordered but his entire tone and body language towards us made us feel uncomfortable. As we ordered more Tapas we had to order from another server as ours Wouldn't help us. When he asked if we were ready for the check we said yes but then he never came back, so we politely asked him again and he acknowledged us but then just never brought it over. After this happening a few times we finally asked another server if we could Just pay and leave. She said absolutely and said she would grab our server so we explained to her that he just wouldn't help us as we had asked him a Few times already with a lot of gap time in between, and we were now feeling uncomfortable and would just like to pay so we can be done. She was shocked that we received this service and asked the server to come over and he just said "what's wrong" so we just explained that it was starting to feel uncomfortable with how he was treating us and he just said "ok" and then walked away. Through the interaction I just can't help but feel that he may have been profiling us, due to how he treated us in comparison with how he treated his other tables, I'm Middle Easter and my S/O is American, who we are shouldn't determine the service we receive. At the end of the day we chose this restaurant to enjoy each other's company and to enjoy what makes dining out so special by being in the company of others enjoying food and beverage and unfortunately we wish we had a different experience like the ones I've had at this same restaurant before. read more

They were able to seat us at the bar after a short wait. We ordered a cheese board, croquettes, pan con tomate, and the truffle risotto. We also had the house sangria and bought two bottles to bring home with us. All of the food was delicious, but the truffle risotto was by far the best thing we ordered.
