    Seafood paella

We really liked this restaurant. Friendly service. The lumpia was perfect as was the seafood paella. Thanks to "helpers" for this recommendation!

    Paella on menu

This place had great reviews and we thought it would be nice. It looked nice inside and our waiter was quite pleasant. The sangria we ordered was tasty, but small, and the tapas were pretty decent. The patates braves were chunky French fries so I wouldn't recommend. The issue came when we ordered two paellas. We specifically said 4 people would be sharing two paella's, because the menu stated each cost €12,50. When we got our food, after waiting over 30 minutes, it was heavily salty to the point we couldn't eat anymore. The worst part was when our check came and we were charged for 4 paella's. When we asked why the waiter told us that it was for 2 and had two portions, per order, so we would have to pay €12,50 per serving. He then tells us the smaller size would have been €12,50 between two people. NO WHERE IN THE MENU OR RESTAURANT DID IT SAY THAT. we then asked a second person to make sure we were getting correct info and the waitress around confirmed the same thing. Overall, it was a ripoff and they scammed us. The food was mediocre at best and no one told us that we would be paying €25 more because there were different sizes. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, and always ask specifically to avoid being ripped off.

I was told before the trip that this was an excellent place to get proper jamon iberico pata negra de bellota. I wasn't looking for a large meal. I just needed the ham fix. I liked that the restaurant gave me toasted bread with fresh tomato and garlic to rub on it myself. The server carved beautiful slightly irregular pieces to cover the entire plate. This was the best ham I had on the trip, and I tried quite a few. Along with some beer and some liquor de belotta, it was excellent.

Very delicious restaurant! We ordered the Iberian steaks and paella. The steaks were delicious, moist chicken wrapped around ham and a cream sauce, breaded and fried. It was served with the most delicious potatoes -a mix between a potato coin and a chip. They were amazing! The paella was so delicious and fresh -very savory with plenty of seafood. While we waited for our meal, waitstaff delivered 2 complimentary tapas tastes -a garlic potato salad and fried mushrooms. At the end of our meal, the waitress delivered complimentary tastes of acorn liquor. It's so darn amazing -our friend bought a bottle. The prices were reasonable -for a little less than 30€ we got a Fanta, a 1/2 liter of beer, paella, and Iberian steaks. That ACORN LIQUOR THO!!!! Wow!

Melon and Ham, and complimentary meat and potato dish

I had ~45 min before my entry time into Sagrada Familia and still needed to check off eating authentic Iberian Melon and Ham (one of my favorite dishes) in Spain. This place did not disappoint! Awesome food and the waitstaff knew I was in a hurry and made sure I got it in time! I ordered the lunch special for less than 15 euros which included an appetizer, entree, dessert and drink. There was also a complementary potatoe and meat (pork heart?) pre appetizer than was so delicious. I got the Melon and Ham as my appetizer and Cordon Bleu as my main course, with rice pudding for dessert. Melon and Ham did NOT disappoint at all!!!! I will dream of this dish forever. The cordon bleu was average and the rice pudding was good, but I had such a good experience here it warranted 5 stars. Especially since it's so close to Sagrada familia, the prices and quality of food and lack of cheap touristy vibes is really impressive. It's also fun to eat with all the Ham legs on the wall for storage (and decor).

Delicious. No other word can describe it. We were looking for a place to eat after visiting La Sagrada Familia and wanted to get away from the restaurants just across the street. We stumbled upon Los Bellota a couple of blocks away. Wow. Amazing sangria. Amazing food. Excellent service. Don't waste your time at the loud and busy fish restaurant across the street. Come to Los Bellota, try the baked eggs, lamb stew, and sausages in wine. (And if you'd prefer beer, you can get a meter of it). A previous review seems to have docked them some stars for not speaking English. I don't expect anyone in Spain to speak English, and would never dock stars for non-English speaking staff in a non-English speaking country. We were able to communicate with the staff just fine. The baked eggs were perfectly cooked, golden, and runny. Cooked with red pepper, sausage, and peas, it was the perfect marriage of ingredients. The lamb stew was tender, flavorful, and included bones that were perfect for spreading marrow on the provided bread. The sangria was sweet and smooth. Patatas Bravas is my favorite comfort food in Barcelona and the ones here did not disappoint. I highly recommend Los Bellota for anyone near La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

We stumbled upon this place after our 3rd attempt to eat at a restaurant near Sagrada Familia. Everything in the area was closing for siesta (it was around 4pm) and we were getting desperate. They seated us right a away and brought out this complimentary potato salad dish served with two pieces of toast. It was very very good. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, anchovies served over tomatoes with vinegar, chorizo in a red wine sauce, and a salad with manchego cheese, nuts, dried fruit and honey. We devoured everything. I was having straight up foodgasms with every bite. I'm so so happy that we found this place. I've had too many experiences where I was completely disappointed with a meal, especially near tourist sites of big cities. This was definitely a great find. Our tummies were very pleased. :)

Just came from having dinner here. It was open during the afternoon on Jan 1, which was helpful for us. Because it was open!!! We were a group of 4 adults and two kids. They gave us a nice table where the kids would be out of the way. The service was fantastic and the food was really good! Very different type of flavors. The peppers were very good, as were the croquettes and the omelette. Be sure and look at the other offerings listed under the pictures. They had an extensive dessert list, which makes a nice change. The price wasn't bad for six people, wine, juices, entrees, and appetizers. Only 112 euros.

It was our first time in Barcelona, Spain, and this place was recommended by my nephew, who's a foodie. Our hotel is just one block away from the glorious Sagrada Familia church. It's walking distance. Being first-time tourists in the area, we wanted to try authentic Spanish food. We ordered the seafood paella and some tapas(small food plates in Spain). I fell in love with Paella. The rice was perfect, and the mussels, shrimps, and the rest of the ingredients were delicious. I will never eat paella in the US again. LOL Theirs is the best. We also tried their calamari, chorizos, and Iberico ham. All were very good! The manager asked us to try the salted green chili. At first, we were afraid to taste it since it might be very hot and we will lose our sense of taste, but we were wrong, the chili is like eating a regular vegetable like beans or spinach (not actual shape comparison), meaning it wasn't spicy or hot at all. It was good too! We must try the sangria, of course, and it's the real deal sangria! Hahaha. It was fantastic. The restaurant also serves cream liquor similar to Irish Baileys. It was very yummy! The service was really fast, and the ambiance is excellent. The manager and the servers were all very friendly. The restaurant looks clean, and it cozy. There's no loud music so you can really enjoy your meal. They have a wall full of wines and, on the other side, have a wall filled with ham. We returned the following day to have some coffee, and they serve good coffee as well. A lot of tourists go to the place, sometimes in big groups because it's so popular. I will definitely go back to this place when we visit the beautiful city of Barcelona again.

This place is amazing. They give you a complimentary appetizer for starters which is always a good thing. We ordered steak, lamb stew, pork rib and tripes. Everything was amazing. The staff was really friendly too. We'll be back for sure before we head back home.

Great service. The Iberian, acorn fed, pork selection was delicious. The paella was very flavorful, with a nice mix of seafood in the dish. Great experience and highly recommended.

This was recommended by friends awhile back, I remembered the modern ambiance, amazing Tapas, friendly service and the place was as busy then until now. My son had been here last year and thought, it was a solid. We put our name in, went to a nearby park bench to wait and watch people for 50 minutes. The servers outside are grumpy as to many people are crowding the sidewalk and impeding his service. Finally, our name was called, were seated at the bar, and watched a chef make the magic dishes. The menu is huge and I can't help but watch the delicious dishes flying by us. So little time and yet so many great choices, this won't be easy. We began with the beef tenderloin montadito foie gras. It was presented as a open face sandwich on a bagette. We split it as it had a huge piece of foie gras. The tenderloin was tough and the tapas tasted like indivdual components, not a blended or refined profile. The grilled razor clams were nicely cooked, slightly gritty and needed to be washed more thoroughly. The Spanish omelet wedge was spiritual, dish of the night award. The onion made the dish! The sliced fried artichoke was finely shaved, and again lacked a enjoyable flavor that I would order again. The chips with fried eggs and Jabugo ham was different, tasty and a concept I would not of thought about. Delicious! Casveseria Catalanahe was packed and stacked for a reason. A high vibe and energy even in the face of a revolt at the check in desk from hungry dinners. I came say without hesitation, we will give them a second try. The staff was friendly, engaging, warm and a good sense of humor, nothing but smiles. I can't wait for our next trip to Cerveseria Catalana and let them tell me what to order. Good luck and see you sooner than later.

Taverna El Glop wraps you up in its warm, lively atmosphere the second you walk in. We were a group of four, and from start to finish, we had an awesome time. The open kitchen is a great touch -- you can watch the chef in action, which adds to the energy and makes the whole experience feel more connected and authentic. We shared a bunch of dishes, and everything was on point. The paella was rich and delicious -- exactly what we came for. The patatas bravas were crispy, creamy, and gone in seconds, and the shishito peppers were the perfect salty, snacky starter. Of course, we had to get a pitcher of sangria (okay, maybe two), which was fruity, refreshing, and just strong enough to keep things festive. The space itself has this great, rustic charm -- complete with checkered tablecloths and even an old cigarette machine near the bar (haven't seen one of those since I was a kid -- aren't those banned in the U.S. now?). I don't smoke -- smoking sucks -- but it added a bit of unexpected nostalgia and character. Service was excellent. I always make a point to be friendly, ask people their names, and introduce myself -- and that's usually met with warmth. It definitely was here. The staff were quick, kind, and seemed to enjoy the place as much as we did. Personally, I loved it.
