Quaint place that was been opened for years. It has expanded and service is wonxerful..We were the only ppl in there and they closed at 3p to 5p to prep evening meals. The Suga Rosa is very good, but I asked if the meatballs were homemade and I was told yes. Well, if you know me, you know I know meatballs. These were equivalent to meatballs at the store...very small, same size, flavorless and definitely not homemade. If this were from the frozen section of a store. If I owned the restaurant I wouldn't let that item pass the counter to the customer. I wouldn't eat them myself. I have to say the pizza is very good. Wood fired. Also, my hubs Salmon was dry. When you first pull up, you aren't sure if you're in the right place. It's right next to a warehouse and the open sign wasn't on. The staff were all super nice. Though right when I got there I was told that pizza wasn't available which was a bummer. Later though I saw them brining a pizza out and I wish I could've tried some. The restaurant is large inside and has plenty of tables. I was waiting on a friend so I ordered truffle fries. They were good and heavy on the truffle oil, maybe a bit too much. I ordered a glass of wine too and it was a good pour for the price. We did the HRW I started with the Caprese salad and it was fine. It could've used more seasoning. I ordered the Chicken Madeira for my main and the chicken was so chewy, like I wanted to spit it out chewy. The waitress was able to change it out for Lasagna, but because of time, I had to take it to go. The desserts were great, my friends got the cheesecake and it tasted homemade. This was my third time at Nundini's and just like the first two times the food was terrible. The first time I had the Lasagna and the only flavor was salt. We also had the Bruschetta which was flavorless, the tomatoes had zero flavor, the bread was not toasted and you could not taste the garlic or olive oil. The second time I tried the Lasagna again because I thought maybe it was just a bad night. This time it was not salty but had no real flavor. The third time I had the veal and all I could taste was butter, absolutely nothing else. It also came with parmesan fries which were really bad, they were soggy and tasted like they were frozen but not completely fried. I will never come back as the food and service are terrible. It took 45 minutes to get in when we had a reservation. The food took almost an hour to get to us after ordering. I only came to hear a friend sing each time, but I told them sorry if you perform there I won't be going. I hear the food was good at least a decade ago. After 3 visits and 3 big disappointments I can only come to the conclusion that the food is just no longer good there. read more

My friend and I came here for a small lunch and shared Bruschetta and Linguine con Pesto. Both dishes were simply made and wonderful to eat. You can really taste all the ingredients which were wonderfully melted together in unison. We asked to split our pesto into two for sharing. The restaurant was wonderfully decorated and fit the theme of the food along with some private areas for parties, kids room to play in, and a small market corner for desserts, cheese, and all the wines! The staff were very sweet and responsive. They are very passionate about their food here. The restaurant's parking lot is angled a bit different than most parking lots but it is free. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointing was my first and last visit to Nundini Chef's Table. But I'm going to try. I first heard about this place on the late and lamented Chowhound food forums over a decade ago. I was intrigued. The descriptions and photos suggested that it was an Old World style eatery for which you needed a secret password to gain admittance. And in hindsight, perhaps that was the issue - I didn't know the password. My experience reflected an utter lack of care about the product they were delivering. First the good. It was dark, moody and definitely delivering the Americanized Old World vibe. I was eventually greeted by what turned out to be the sole front of the house employee on duty. Young guy, very pleasant, should definitely be working at a better place. I was there to place an order to go for myself, my mom and my brother who was recently discharged from the hospital and basically home bound. I arrived around 11:45 on a Saturday morning and there was only one occupied table. I placed an order for two Chicken Piccatas, one with asparagus, (mom's) and one with aglio olio spaghetti, (mine), and one New Orleans sandwich which is actually a panini, for my little bro. The piccata was OK, nothing special. The sauce was straightforward and simple with capers and lemon; it did not have olives, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, or any of the other add-ons that some chefs use to "make it their own". I greatly prefer the simpler version. The chicken was too thick, overdone and not close to the fork tender version I had expected. The asparagus was limp, mushy and looked unappetizing to me, but mom ate it. The spaghetti was good and made with a ton of garlic which was fine for me, but might have been too much for some. The panini was just awful. Really, really, really bad. See the photos below. It was supposed to come with an "olive salad". We were expecting a New Orleans style muffuletta olive salad. Instead they just threw on a scant handful of chopped black olives. Worse, the bread went beyond roasted to actually burned. Had it ended there, I wouldn't be so critical, but they also burned the meats. You'll note the photo where not only did the burn the meat but even managed to scorch the pistachio in the mortadella. How do you even do that in a panini?!? He couldn't eat it. I had a glass of house Chianti in the bar while I waited for the order. All in, my bill was just north of $80. I swear to you that I have been looking forward to popping in to Nundini's for a decade or more. I have rarely been as disappointed in a restaurant ever. I do very much wanted to earn that secret password! Lastly, during my chat with the waiter he noted that Chef Nundini was in the kitchen though not necessarily cooking. For our dinner, we went to "Nundini Chef's Table". We have known Chef Timothy for several years, ever since he worked at Lasagna House-1960. This is when we had the Tastiest Hummingbird Cake and Italian Cream Cake EVER - all made by Chef Timothy. He has been the head Chef at Nundinis now for several years, and we come here as often as we can when we are down visiting. We arrived around 6 pm or so, and were shown to our table. Sierra is our server, and we ordered our drinks. Soon Chef Timothy came over and we spoke for a long time. Chef Timothy asked if we would like an appetizer that is not on the menu, it's "Stuffed Mushrooms". Okay, that sounds delicious, and we all said "YES", because we all LOVE STUFFED MUSHROOMS. While he went to prepare this appetizer, we looked over the menu. Right now, Nundinis is getting packed. Lots of people are arriving, and their Piano player is playing and singing away. This is a nice touch. Some of the customers, the regulars, picked up the mic and started singing songs. Let's just say, they are really good, every one of them, and there were a lot throughout the evening. Nundini Chefs Table is ROCKING on a Thursday Night. Sierra stopped by to see if we are ready to order, and we are. Ann is going with their "Risotto Al Funghi Porcini"; Creamy Italian Carnaroli Risotto with imported Porcini Mushrooms, fresh Mushrooms a touch of Onions & Garlic. Michael is having the "Trenette Con Pesto Genovese"; Trenette Pasta tossed with crushed Garlic, pine nuts, Basil Leaves, Parmigiano Reggiano & Pecorino Sardo all blended with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. He also ordered a "Caesar Salad"; Romaine Lettuce tossed with Parmigiano-Reggiano, muddled Anchovies, Garlic, Egg Yolk, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Lemon Juice & Croutons. My Wife and I are sharing the Wood-Fired "Carnivore Pizza"; Tomatoes, Mozzarella, Spicy Salami, Ham, Speck & Italian Sausage on a Crispy Thin Crust. After taking our orders, Sierra brought out the "Stuffed Mushrooms" on a Huge platter that must weigh 20 pounds. It's heavy and filled with lots of Stuffed Mushrooms in a large bowl with perfectly toasted little toasts all around. We each grabbed some and began a mouth-watering delight of Liciousness. All of us LOVE Stuffed Mushrooms, and we finished this off in no time at all. These have an amazing flavor of I don't know what's in there, but the flavor stays in your mouth, and we are all drooling a little. After we finished the Stuffed Mushrooms, our main entrees came out, and they were all a beautiful presentation of Italianliciousness. Our Carnivore Pizza looks amazing with lots of goodies all around. We Love this thin, crunchy crust. All the meats on there are fresh and very tasty, especially the Spicy Salami - that adds a lot of spiciness to all the other meats. Anns Risotto Al Funghi Porcini covers the entire plate and is enough for two people, easily. She gave each of us some and it's Mushroomliciousness. The flavors of each ingredient in this masterpiece complement each other. Michaels Trenette Con Pesto Genovese is a lot of green, and green is good for you. He didn't share because the guy is still growing. I've had this before, and it is really good. Chef Timothy was in the kitchen preparing lots of orders for their customers during most of our stay, but when it slowed down some, he joined us. Nundinis is changing some to accommodate the neighborhood, and it shows because there are a lot of them enjoying what they offer. Tim showed us their Arcade Room, mainly for the little ones, and it's all FREE - and you can't beat FREE. And they are also preparing more Specials for the near future. We stayed until almost closing and enjoyed the entire evening. Sierra and Chef Timothy earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award and will keep it with the rest of the awards they have received in the past. Restaurant was not comfortable. It was warm. This happened a year or so ago so I just thought it would be fixed. I guess not. Then the food. I had the Fusilli with roasted garlic, mushrooms and artichokes with a hand made red sauce. It had a good taste but the artichokes were tough. My friend and I had better artichokes out of a can. My husband's dish was good enough but not great. I will not be going back. If you can't fix the air conditioning over a year or two I am not interested in being a customer. read more

Nundini Chef's Table is hands down one of my favorite hidden gems in Houston! It's a cozy, family-owned Italian restaurant that truly feels like home. The Nundini family puts so much love into everything they do -- you can taste it in every bite. The food does take a little longer to come out, but that's because everything is made from scratch -- and it's absolutely worth the wait. Some of the waiters are fantastic and really make you feel welcome, adding to that warm, family-style experience. My favorite dishes are the Risotto Al Funghi Porcini and Fusilli San Marino, but honestly, everything I've tried has been delicious. I'm also a huge fan of their gelato -- it's some of the best I've had! They've added an arcade for kids, which is such a fun touch for families, and I love that you can also shop authentic Italian ingredients right there in their market. We went to Nundini yesterday. I ordered pasta bolognese. It had about a tablespoon of meat in it. Very disappointing. My friend had seafood pasta which he said smelled fishy but he ate it anyway. The tables are only about 24 inches wide. I accidentally knocked iff and broke a glass pepper shaker. (No Room on table).....They charged me $10 for it. Would never go back. Had to ask for bread. Since discovering nundini's, this is my all-time favorite Italian restaurant! Most of the ingredients are from Italy except for the local produce. Always fresh and always authentic! Big pesto guy here, and this was a playful pesto that was most definitely clean-plate worthy. The oily and creamy texture of the pesto provided a pleasant eating experience. An impressive selection of wine was clearly visible and provided a satisfying setting for a date night, or in my case, a celebration of friendship. Even though we did not indulge in wine ourselves, dranks WILL be poured at our next outing. We were well taken care of by our service. Sam the bartender makes anything you could ever want and more, and he's fun to chat with. The executive chef, Timothy, is so personable and friendly. The owner, the servers, and everyone is exceptionally kind. My friend has been recommending Nundini Chef Table to me for a while, and since I pass by it often while running errands, I was excited to finally give it a try. We chose to sit at the bar to check out their drink menu, and I ordered a tiramisu martini, which turned out to be one of the best drinks I've ever had. It was smooth, flavorful, and really set high expectations for the rest of the experience. I was told the soup of the day was tomato bisque, which I love, so I ordered that along with a carbonara entree. But when the soup arrived, it was actually a potato soup. I politely declined it, letting the waitress know that I don't like potato soup. However, she insisted, several times, that I should try it, saying she would personally pay for it if I didn't like it. Even after I explained that I was completely fine going without soup, she kept pushing, and it started to make me feel uncomfortable and even a bit guilty, as if I were being difficult for not accepting it. Then a man sitting nearby, who said he was a chef there, jumped into the conversation to also encourage me to try the soup. This put me in the awkward position of having to explain to a stranger why I didn't want it. It felt unprofessional and intrusive, especially after I had already clearly declined. By the time my carbonara arrived, I'd lost my appetite a bit. I had a few bites, paid my bill, and tipped my bartender 20%. We walked in on a Tuesday night, needing a table for two. The calamari was made just how we like it. I tried an item from their special boards and it was absolutely delicious. My date ordered the CAPESANTE ALLA NUNDINI and he had leftovers that I'm excited to have for lunch tomorrow. We are 2 for 2. We went there to see Jason James, the piano player. We grew fond of him from another establishment. The 1st time we noticed there was not a lot of people there for a Saturday night. We figured it was due to the location. We soon realised the waiter for our section needed training but the food was very good. We went back a 2nd time to listen to Jason James. We worked real hard to get into a section so we didn't get the same waiter as the last time. We were not successful. We didn't think the service could be worst but it was. We invited another couple to join us. We were embarrassed. They liked Jason James' music but unfortunately, we won't be back. I went to Nundini's with a friend for restaurant week and it did not disappoint. The staff were top notch and made me feel welcome. They kept me entertained while I waited for my friend. Unlike many restaurants, they did not skimp on any course. We shared a calamari appetizer, and there was plenty to share. It was perfectly done. I do not like fried food and I would order again. The salads were fresh and the seafood linguini was delish. We showed up at Nudini's Chef Kitchen a few hours before closing on a Friday night. The parking lot was full, so we used the valet only to walk in and find out we were literally the only table in the restaurant. That should have been our first clue, but we felt bad leaving, so we stayed. About 20 minutes in, a man in red (claiming to be the chef) came over and told us we needed to move to a different area because their AC had broken. We moved to a side room that smelled like vomit and had two giant TVs playing aerial views of Italy and a random cooking show meanwhile, it was MLB championship night and not a single game was on. I should have said we were leaving at that point but again I felt bad. The service was painfully slow despite us being the only table. To top it off, we watched the "chef" and staff sit at the bar in the room where the AC was "broken". My pasta was dry like it sat under the heat lamp too long. The brisket was flavorless and gray. Dessert took forever. Also, the bill took forever too. I want my $150 back. Overall, this was a terrible dining experience. My Friday night felt ruined. My husband, daughter and I ate at your restaurant tonight to celebrate my Son's heavenly birthday. We were very impressed with the food, wine and service. The Fettuccine, Lasagna and house salads were very good. Our server Xavi took excellant care of us and recommended a wine that we really liked. Nundini Chef Table is my new favorite restaurant in Houston my a mile. We were there to celebrate an occasion with four families, and the whole experience was fantastic. Timothy, the executive chef, noticed our large group and came out of the to meet us as we were looking at the menu. His friendly charm set a fun tone for the night, and his insight helped us lock in a fantastic dinner experience. We did everything "family style" so we could all try a wide variety of food passing dishes around. It's probably not for everybody, but they served the most tender octopus I've ever had anywhere. Pleasant restaurant with good Italian food. From the outside it looks imposing, or a little off-putting, as it's set in a warehouse, but it has a neat ambiance inside; with a little deli as you walk in with it's own tables and chairs, kids buying gelato and some really excellent looking pastries. There was only one waitress, and a host-slash-bartender helping, so we played foosball for a bit while waiting for our table. It's a cute area to wait in. Finally, we were taken to the main restaurant portion, didn't have to wait too terribly long for food, despite the poor waitress being run off her feet with about 10 tables. The host/bartender did most of the drink refills. My pappardelle al ragu pasta wasn't bad (uneventful tasting bolognese), but his lasagna was actually scrumptious. I would get the lasagna again in a heart beat. Not a huge portion, so if you're starving go for one of the appetizers (the calamari was good). In all, not a bad Italian place, very casual, not fine dining et gourmet, but if you want a laid back place to take the kids or simple Italian food, this would fit the bill. read more

I went to this place for a friend's birthday dinner awhile back. The wait staff didn't even give us menus until we had been there for 45 minutes. I can't be sure anyone asked for them but even if we didn't, bring them anyway. I got the carbonara. It wasn't good. It tasted like how a farm smells. I politely sent it back, telling the server I didn't want anything else. I had had some of the shared appetizers and just wasn't interested. He came back a few minutes later, handed me a menu, and said the chef apologies and he insists I get something else. Okay fine, I order spaghetti and meatballs. It was meh. Then we get the bill and they charged me for the spaghetti and meatballs! If a chef "insists" that I get another dish, you'd think they'd be doing so free of charge, right? I didn't want anything!! They basically forced me to order something else (which wasn't even that good) AND pay for it. I was livid but we had been there close to four hours at that point so I didn't argue, I just wanted to get the hell out of there. Terrible experience. Would never return. read more

(like sure we speak many different languages what do you want us to speak?) He does not know how to communicate to a diverse group. Our group had filipinos, 1 white, and puerto ricans. I would never recommend this restaurant after the service we received. The establishment are not professional. The food was comparable to a fast food restaurant. This used to be a hidden little secret, maybe too secret. It used to be hard to get a table. It used to have one of the best resittos with shrimp and scallops I've ever had. The service used to great. Tonight (a Friday night) we (party of two) called at about 6:45 pm just on the chance they had an opening. The gentleman on the phone told us it's ok to come in at 7:30 or 8:00. We showed up just before 8:00 and were greated at the door by the gentleman I spoke with. I assume he's the manager or the owner. He immediately said our names and introduces his chef. They walk us to a table. Looking around, there is only one table seated in the whole restaurant with a party of eight. Just us. Well that explained the ease of getting in. There were previous nights we couldn't get in. My wife orders a glass of wine. It's delivered to the table with a plastic disk and has a center screen on it converting the glass. We didn't know what it was. I thought maybe to show that they had aerated the wine? So we Google it...wine-tapa.com. It's to keep bugs out. We think, odd, we would expect something like this for outdoor dining; although I've never seen one. Our Caprese comes, it was a well presented but meh! Tomatoes were bland and cheese was nothing special - dense like the cheaper stuff. By now my wife spots a gnat on her wine glass. She's not happy, but puts the cover back on it. She ordered the bolognese and I ordered my favorite risotto with seared scallops and shrimp. It really WAS one of the best I had ever had. I dig into a scallop and it's stringy and overcooked. It's also brownish, which I assume is a sauce on the risotto. It had an odd flavor and a terrible texture. Stringy and tough. By now my wife has spotted more gnats around the table. We call the server over. My wife points to the gnats around the table and in her glass. She confirmed she saw them, but that was all. No offer of a new wine. I show her the remaining scallops and complain about how they taste. It has a wired tangy flavor and was pinkish in the center. It was clearly cooked from frozen. The shrimp were ok, and I mean just ok. The server asks if I want to replace my food. I just asked for a few more shrimp instead. The risotto was good...not great like it used to be. A few minutes later the only other server comes to the table. She said "Do you know how to get rid of them?" Opening comment...not kidding. She then says how terrible they are and how much they bother her. Then makes some excuse about some Sahara sand storm; she leaves. Never an apology or an offer. We then notice our server taking to the chef who is sitting 15 feet from us talking to a woman at a table. She delivers my shrimp; 5 total. They are well plated. They had no flavor at all. And now three gnats are collected in my wife's half empty, $14, glass of wine. Our waiters asks if we need anything else. I was expecting the chef to come by or the manager/owner to come and at least comp the wine or halve the risotto cost or maybe just apologize. Nope. Just our server and a $96 check. She doesn't clear our plates. I drop my card in the folio, she takes it, then returns to stand it on still unbused table. No apologies, not asks about the 1/4 eaten food or 1/4 drank items on the tab, no comments from anyone. We left without anyone saying anything and passed within five feet of the chef on the way out. While it used to be great, this place is clearly struggling. It reminded me of one of this really shitty places you see on those restaurant rescue shows. And I didn't ask for anything to be taken off the check. I felt it wasn't worthwhile...they don't care. Sad that they will be going out of business. read more

This place needs to close down. I heard it use to be good. The waiter/hostess didn't acknowledge us until we asked to be seated. It was just us and one other couple. We ordered calamari- it was good. We ordered two pastas that were inedible, I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and I could smell that the meat wasn't full cooked. We had to get our food from the cook counter because our waiter was no where to be found. She finally came back and didn't even ask us how we had our food. I didn't even bother complaining about the food, we just got our check and left. I have never seen a restaurant so badly managed. read more

Have been driving past this place for years and finally had a change to give it a try for a weekday lunch. Unfortunately, seems they are suffering the same as many restaurants and are understaffed; they mentioned their waiter did not show up. So, we got waited on by the owner, who took care of us but was obviously busy taking care of the restaurant as a whole operation. What was a workday lunch turned in to an almost 2 hour ordeal...again, understandable given the staffing but still hard to manage in the work day. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals; I had the lunch special potato gnocchi with Bolognese sauce. The sauce was rich and flavorful and the gnocchi was pillowy as it should be - pretty good and enjoyable. We did sample the homemade gelato at the insistence of the owner, but didn't end up getting any due to time. Which was a hard decision, because the gelato was delicious - I sampled the vanilla bean and it was excellent. Will certainly be back to at least get some gelato in the future. read more

Will give this place another try because could have been an off evening. It was empty and my friend and I were flanked by families with young children. There was plenty of room and people my parents age were seated elsewhere and away from the noise. There were approximately 20 minutes where one of the main team members in the kitchen were taking directions from a Reserved table in the corner yelling directions on how they wanted items. Potentially owner or manager, but this is not an old school Chicago or NY 100 year old joint where you would expect that. My friend and I both got salads. Her the Greek and I got the house asking for the dressing on the side. Think masks caused issues, mine came with dressing on and on the side. Dressing was really good (although a bit heavily applied) and was surprised how light it was although being creamy. My friend won with the Greek salad. Perfect everything to me, but she notated no olives. She got the mushroom risotto, flavors were on point and she was happy, but I thought underdone. I can't judge, I won't touch risotto with a ten foot pool because it's so annoying to make. I took the servers recommendation on the seafood pasta and really wish I would have stuck to my guns and picked one of their homemade pastas. Everything was great until I got to the calamari and mussels, a bit too fishy for my taste. I think this is not on them, but because I am sensitive to this. So took all home, removed those two and devoured! read more

Great atmosphere! Love the unique menu; it's a great change to typical Italian fare. The mussels in the spicy red sauce are amazing! Great pizzas and pasta. Professional cooks! read more
