Clean unassuming exterior, missed the parking lot on first pass but the peek we got inside persuaded us to turn around and give it a shot. My daughter and I tried a variety of traditional options. Vegan Spring Rolls were nothing spectacular but the Crab Wontons offered a bit of a kick we didn't expect. Wonton soup and Mango Bubble Tea were enjoyed by my daughter with an entree of Thai Fried Rice with Chicken was the best either of us had enjoyed anywhere. My Cashew Stir Fry w/tofu was light and tasty with the right amount of heat requested and a slight crispness to the fried tofu and veggies. We wanted to try dessert but over indulged in the meal and had no room. Hope to return on our next trip to town. read more

My wife is a vegan and they were able to not use the fish sauce and use a vegan substitute in the different curries that we tried. My husband got a curry dish at a level 2 and I am not as food adventurous and got fried rice at a zero. Both were fresh, tasted real, homemade and simply yummy. I'd been desperately waiting for a top tier Thai restaurant in the general Mason area for years. This is it. It's an intimate, beautiful old bar space with comfortable booths. The owner is from Chiang Rai, Thailand, and it shows. She's brilliant and enjoyable to chat with. The food is something else--literally. The Pad Kee Mao is essentially perfect. They have the rare yellow curry, my second favorite dish. The powerful flavors blend seamlessly into a lovely balance. If you want serious heat, she's up to the task (1 to 5 being spiciest). $8 for lunch, $11 for dinner. It's a phenomenal value for the quality. Some of the most slowest and absentminded service I've seen-combined with a mixed bag on the food-makes for a very disappointing dining experience. We arrived on a busy night, I guess. The place was full, which means six tables being served by three employees. It took about 10 minutes after being seated with a menu for someone to come and take out order. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. 10 minutes later the appetizers started to arrive, but we hadn't yet received drinks or silverware. We tried to ask but the waitress appeared and vanished so quickly we were unable to ask. Eventually my wife went to the bar and waited about five minutes before she could flag our waitress down to ask for both. She apologized and brought over forks and napkins and quickly disappeared again. She never brought water. Eventually the table next to us asked their waitress to bring us water, which she quickly did. (Incidentally the neighboring table had been waiting just as long for beer since their kindly waitress was apparently too young to serve it and was relying on our waitress to help them.) On to the food. Our appetizers were all delicious: spring rolls, crab Rangoon, pork kebabs and son in law eggs. The crab Rangoon apparently tasted like cheesecake filling but it was still devoured by the kids (go figure if it was sweet). The eggs were fantastic and I want the recipe! My wife's entree was basil chicken. It arrived as a plate of sliced bell peppers and onions with what looked like chopped deli meat slices of chicken. My wife confirmed that the taste and texture seemed to be deli meat chicken as well. My entree was the jackfruit special. I was excited to try an authentic and unique Thai dish and I love jackfruit in savory dishes! However when it arrived it looked like a pile of mush, nothing like the menu photo. On top of that it was clearly microwaved as it was piping hot in places and ice cold in other places. The sticky rice it came with was served in a microwaved ziploc bag! This should be removed from the menu. About 10 minutes after being served I succeeded in flagging down the waitress who quietly removed the dish after I told her it was ice cold. She removed it without comment. It took another 10 minutes or so for her to ask if I wanted something else. I was hesitant to order since everyone else was finished eating by then so I declined. But I guess I could've ordered because it took forever to get our bill! read more

You want some unpretentious thai with a casual atmosphere and amenable service, this is the place. The food is consistently off the charts. I love thai... well really, I love one thai dish (Drunken Noodles). This place knocks it out of the park. My wife is the same way with Pad Thai. At some point maybe we'll get tired of our go to dishes at this place and venture out on the menu, but just writing this review, all I can think about is drunken noodles at lvl 5. Service is good. It's a small place and they staff tag teams to get you whatever you need. I've never felt like someone is hovering over me, but if we've needed anything, it's easy to get someones attention. My only minor gripe is that the alcoholic beverage options are kind of pricey. I get it that a beer/wine license costs money, but I'll order 2 beers at $3 a piece. If a beer is $5, I'm ordering water. It would be awesome if you could come up with a $3 Thai/Asian beer special. I hope this place is here to stay. Monroe isn't exactly a melting pot of culture, and this is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

This place will always be my favorite!! There food comes out hot, full of flavor, and the spicy level is always on point. I have never had a bad experience here, what I will say though is they're struggling with staff, but thats not their fault! To come to this restaurant nowadays, just have patience and I can promise you that it will be the best food you have ever eaten. I get the basil fried rice with extra chicken level three& my girlfriend gets the Half and half pad Thai with extra chicken level four! Our group of 6 at on a recent Friday night. Half of the tables were closed off and the staff was masked and practices good distancing. The food was excellent and we all had a great time. We started with a large Tom Yam soup with shrimp. The whole table gave great reviews. We also had the scrimp cream cheese rolls and some spring rolls. All were great. For main courses we had Chicken Pad Thai (always a favorite), a Green Curry, and Beef Pho. We were pleased with all dishes. Service was quick and attentive and the price was reasonable. I have been wanting to come to Numprik Thai Lai since I discovered the opened as I love Thai food and not have many options near Lebanon, I was excited. I started with Tom Kha soup. It has really good flavor although I missed the lemongrass. Some of the chicken was a little tough but overall was good. I then asked which curry was the best and was suggested to order Panang Curry. It arrived and looked very good. The spice level was a 2 and was cooked perfectly. The overall flavor was good but not having it before, I am unable to compare. It seemed to lack richness but again, I will have to try it elsewhere to determine if that is a true statement. I also had iced Thai Tea that was very good. I ordered vegetable pad Thai to take home for tomorrow's lunch. I couldn't help but try it when I got home. I just say, having it delivered to my table about five minutes before I left and a fifteen minute drive home and it was still piping hot. It was delicious. Definitely a dish I will order again. I am looking forward to going back and trying other dishes. They may not have earned five stars during my first visit, I'm sure they will earn my repeat business. This is our favorite for authentic Thai cuisine! The dishes are flavorful and always beyond delicious. My husband's "go to" is the Khua Kling which is a minced chicken with as much spice as you can handle. I love the red curry with chicken. So much depth compared to any other place I've eaten at. In one day I dined here at lunch with a buddy, and ended up calling in a carryout order for dinner as well. It resides in the same location as the former Red Onion, which we loved. The building has gone through some changes, but I really hope this one lasts. The food is excellent! The first visit we had the appetizer sampler, pineapple fried rice, beef pad see ewe, cup of Tom Yam, and sticky rice with thai custard. Everything was excellent, and I think the sampler was a nice way of trying a variety of items on a first trip. The pad see ewe was the highlight for me, although my wife preferred the fried rice. The desert was enjoyable, although not something I would normally order. On my most recent trip with a buddy, we got both got cups of Tom Kha soup and I had the Panang Curry. Do not overlook this soup! This is the reason I got their food twice in the same day. Tom Kha is a coconut lime soup with cilantro and galangal (or ginger), and it's just great. I'm going to try my hardest to replicate this in my own kitchen, as I've never had a soup that I enjoyed this much. The curry was great, and my buddies' Kanom Jeen Nam Ngeaw was really good as well, and the first time I'd tried blood cake. It's pretty easy to see that it's a small family run operation, as such, it's not uncommon for servers to disappear to help in the back, but it's also a new operation. My only real desire for this place is for them to get a liquor license. It's got a good atmosphere, and I'd be more than happy having soup and a drink. Overall, very pleased! read more

It's also a common place my boyfriend and I go to. It's just such a great place for a date night. I love the 1/2 and 1/2 Pad Thai with Chicken and level 4 spicy. The spiciness is the best part of the food. You can get it however you like,, 1-5. I prefer my food to be spicy. My boyfriend enjoys the Basil Fried Rice with chicken level 3. Ever since my friends and I were supposed to have a girls night here, I've been wanting to come. But this place left me a bit disappointed. First of all, my friends and I had to cancel our reservation a few weeks ago b/c they said they couldn't guarantee a table even though we made reservations. The staff were friendly and we were seated immediately. Our food came pretty fast as well. My friend and I shared crispy (fried) tofu and crispy pad Thai. I also got a Thai iced tea. The tea was waaay too sweet. The fried tofu was bland. Even the peanut sauce that you put on it had no taste. I ended up using the hot chili sauce. The crispy pad Thai is supposed to have crispy noodles. They were not at all crispy. The Pad Thai was flavorful but it was salty & very greasy/oily. I gave it 3 stars b/c the staff were friendly & with quick service. Although the place was clean, there was an odor, but probably the seafood cooking. Thai food is one of favorite cuisines I've eaten amazing Thai food in Chicago & DC so perhaps that's what I expecting. read more

The only issue was that they only gave us one order of crab Rangoon instead of the two we ordered, so be sure to double check on a pick up order. Even with this issue, the food was great.
