This is a cute little historical spot in Mason. I have been in Mason since banana leaf era and I do miss that whole vibe. It's not quite up to that previous pre-Covid standard, but they have great curries for very affordable prices. My son's birthday, so he suggested Thai Terrace. The food is spicy, so they want to know (from 1-5) how spicy you want it. He ordered the Green Curry (duck) at spice level 6. It was good. I was wavering between the Thai duck and Three Flavor duck. My son asked if I wanted savory (which I did) and recommended the Three Flavors Duck. I tried the regular meal, and it was delicious. I should have tried the large portion. My wife had the Wonton Soup (which was the best) and Thai Fried Rice was good, but my wife couldn't finish it. My grandson had the Larb Kai, and liked it. My son's wife (daughter-in-law) had a kids Pad Thai and Avocado in Terrace Salad. The ambiance had much to be desired. It was in a house on the corner of Main Street & Mason-Montgomery. Great Food with a Side of Suspicion My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Amazing food and great building. We loved it. For the rest of the day we excitedly talked about what we were going to get next time. I used a relatively new credit card. It was a replacement with a new number. I've only ever used it with tap to pay (which generates a one time use number). This time, I handed the card to the server who walked away with it and returned it with our check. My wife was here with friends and she suggested we come here with family as she liked the food. We ordered Chicken Satay, Spring rolls and Cream cheese rangoons as appetizers. The presentation was wonderful and very flavorful in taste. For mains we ordered red curry, basil fried rice and a Cashew Nut entre. I have been dying to come to this little spot for a few years now and I finally met my friend for lunch on a Friday. My first impression of the the building, I felt like I was walking into a historic home. The room we were seated in had about 5 tables total but there also seemed to be seating upstairs as well. We were greeted promptly by who I assume was the owner. He was incredibly nice and able to tell us about the menu. The only downside about the food was they had no sushi that day. I ordered a mango bubble tea which really surprised me as there was dairy in it, it was really sweet but the popping bobas were amazing. I ordered drunken man with shrimp for my meal and it was so so good. I got a spice level low instead of medium but I do believe I could've handled a medium. DO NOT EXPECT GREAT SERVICE. I went with my husband and parents on a Friday night. There were not many dine-in guests with one server. The server started out friendly enough. My mother ordered Pad Thai "very mild, NO spice, I cannot do any spice". Being a former server I would understand that this person cannot tolerate any spice and is very sensitive. When our dishes came out, she immediately realized she could not eat it. Our server gave her "Mild", which to be fair is more like a normal medium. When we kindly explained the situation. He basically blamed it on us saying that we ordered mild and if she wanted no spice she should have ordered "no spice". I'm I reminded him that she DID say, "very mild, NO spice, I cannot do any spice" After reasonably asking if we could get it remade, he said "we can, but I'm going to have to charge you for both dishes. We don't like to waste food." My mom refused to order anything else, fearing that if it came out spicy again she would have two dishes she couldn't eat but would have to pay for. First, I was in shock that a server would argue with patrons over their own definitions of spice levels in a restaurant. If you don't want to "waste food" I feel like it's the servers responsibility to help educate the guest in making the right choice. For example, "Just to let you know, our mild has a bit of spice to it. We can make it without any spice if that's what you prefer." Secondly, my mother DID say, "very mild, NO spice, I cannot do any spice". After a few minutes he came out of the kitchen with a little attitude, grabbed my mom's plate and said that they would remake it without charge. The rest of the meal service was a little scarce. He wasn't attentive and seemed like he was avoiding us. No drink refills, forgot the peanuts and limes we asked for, etc. The food was amazing, but there at many other Thai restaurants with just as delicious food and better service. Everytime someone walked into the tiny dining room the tables were asking for refills, a check, a box etc. like it didn't dawn on the waiter to look around the room and see if anyone else needed anything. We moved to the area about a year ago and have driven by this restaurant multiples times a day before finally checking it. We're very happy to have such an awesome Thai food option near home. Food: We started with crab rangoons; these were very fresh. Perfectly fried, not overcooked and cold inside like a lot of frozen ones at Chinese takeout places. I had the cashew nut chicken, and my wife chicken drunken noodles. Both dishes were ordered medium spice, which was pretty spot on. Both of our entrees were delicious, with fresh, crispy veggies. Nothing was overly greasy and left us feeling like we had a nice homecooked meal. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. I had the Thai iced tea which was a very generous portion for the price. Service: We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and found the restaurant all but empty. One server/host and one other party of 2 dining. We were immediately seated and drink orders taken. Drinks and appetizers came out promptly, and the food followed soon after. A good meal pace. The server checked in on us enough without hovering, and kept our drinks refilled. Facilities: Thai Terrace has a large parking lot behind the building, and a few street parking spots in front. I am so happy that this building stayed a Thai restaurant once Banana Leaf closed! Thai Terrace has all of the basics of your favorite Thai food, and I am excited to try more from their menu! I ordered the drunken noodles and my husband ordered the chicken pad thai. I liked my drunken noodles a lot, they were a little "sweet" which I wasn't a huge of, is this a normal component? My husband liked his pad thai and each was a great hefty portion! We did carry-out, and the only reason for the 4-stars was because we tried to call and their phone was not working, so we drove over to place an order to-go and waited. Luckily in downtown Mason, they have DORA so you could stroll and sip a drink from a local participating restaurant while you wait. I hope to dine in soon! read more

I wish I could give this place zero stars just for how cursed the service is. A shame, because the food is actually quite good. The issue is that there is absolutely no consistency with how things are run in the kitchen. The ambiance is nice thanks to all the hard work Banana Leaf (previous establishment RIP) put in to make it look and feel really elegant. These people just got lucky that banana leaf left it all behind. There is always one person running the business and he is so rude and unaware he makes me feel like I'm the biggest inconvenience to him every time I show up or order. I do not feel welcomed or attended to. He is always mumbling and grumbling and is just plain rude to customers. Extremely unprofessional. Multiple times I've walked in and he is sitting there distracted and doesn't even realize I've walked in let alone greets me. He is also weirdly aggressive about spice levels and tries to convince everyone that they can't tolerate the various spice levels that they order. Why belittle the customer this way? Instead, why not just adjust the restaurant's overall spice level instead? I could say so much more about the disastrous service but I'll get get into the consistency issue which is the main thing: I always order the exact same thing, same spice level. Sometimes the flavor is super concentrated and delicious, sometimes it's not at all. Sometimes it's really greasy and sometimes it's super dry. Sometimes the spice amount is perfect, sometimes it's way too much. It's impossible to trust and know what you're going to get. It's a shame because it is some of the best Thai food in the area but the inconsistency and absolute disaster of management makes this place a major flop read more

I was worried they looked a little dry, but they were actually perfect! Very crispy and good flavor. I got the basil fried rice with chicken and medium spice ($14) and my husband got the drunken noodle with chicken and medium spice ($14). Initially we ordered our dishes with hot spice, but our waiter recommended we go down to the medium spice. I'm glad we did! The medium spice was the perfect level for us. I ordered a medium spicy and felt everything was too sweet and not at all spicy or sour (did nt taste tamarind) but don't let my taste buds make you judge this restaurant. Their peanut sauce is delish and the summer rolls were so good. Their portion is a good size. My husband only had some issue with their alcohol portion/size which he felt was too less for a shot for the amount they charged.
