The Pepperoni/Mushroom was ok. It was tasty, but the sesame crust was missing. Numero Uno Pizza started the sesame crust on pizza in Vancouver, so with that gone, it made a big difference in the overall taste. The Beef/Blue cheese I didn't like....actually took one bite and switched back to Pepperoni/Mushroom. It also didn't have the sesame crust and just lacked in taste. I remember when Numero Uno first opened in Vancouver....years ago and it made a big bang with lineups outside and the whole "sesame crust on pizza" was taking off big time....I guess they ditched that now?! Why would you eliminate something that you're famous for? I think overall, with so many comparable by-the-slice pizza joints....Numero Uno...might currently be Numero Cinco...at best. read more

I'm from the East coast so this is as good as pizza will be for West coast (Canada). They are open veryyy late. Secret Non Menu Item: So at a certain time of the (late) night the owner will make a limited amount of "Lahmajoon (Turkish)" pizza's. You lost a customer Today I went in to grab a slice. I've been there regularly for the last five years. Not a great slice but quick and convenient. The woman was in the back, when she came out I tried to tell her what slice I wanted and she yelled over me "for here or to go", I tried to explain that a paper plate is fine I don't want a bag but she cut me off right away again yelling "for here or to go". At that point I decided I wasn't going to order and quietly began to leave, she was too rude. She then yelled at me "don't you speak Engrish". Friday night, downtown, 2:30 in the morning, where do you go for food? Numero Uno Pizza, that's where. I have to commend them on their amazing customer service skills. I work in the customer service industry and what sets every business apart from their competitors is the way you treat your customers. You would like them to keep coming back to your establishment and not the competitions. The fine people here are amazing at that and more. I came here to impulsively eat my feelings away on my way home after trying to find a job to no success for the third month. The rent is eating me alive, but at least this Numéro Uno Pizza slice is some how doing better than this young professional. I got a classic cheese and a pepperoni - a classic basic. It refilled my bland soul with homey feelings. 3/5. I ate for to go but took it out for here. The grandma who assisted me was the most cheerful human working at a pizza shop I had ever seen. 4/5 I came to the end of the basic pepperoni. And that crust was just perfection. Not too thick, not too chewy, and a slight flavour of smoke. I'm beginning to think that good pizza places are like good pho places. Walking around the south Granville area last night looking for a quick and easy feeding spot for my 16 yr old son, I stumbled upon this little shop. It was good for the most part, but it comes with an intriguing pricing story just begging to be told: We walked in and requested 2 slices of pizza @ 1.99 each. After a moment, I rethought my decision and requested a whole small cheese pie instead. The woman at the counter then tells me that it's 21.95. Shocked at the price, we started to leave. The woman stopped me and then offered to give me the pizza for $16.00 ($2.00 per slice x 8 slices) ....... What, really???? 16.00 for a small cheese pizza??? I declined and turned to leave again. She then said that I could have it for 9.95 + tax. Hmmmmm . . . interesting . . . We were cold and hungry, so we took it. Bottom line: The pizza was ok, but not exceptional. Quite possibly the worst pizza I have ever had. Tried the spinach slice and the meat lovers slice. I honestly have had many frozen pizzas that far surpass this. Crust was awful as were the toppings. Bland and basically flavourless. The texture was bad as well. Only positives for me were price--2 slices for $5, location next to my condo and the person working who was very friendly and personable. I was sent here by a hungover girl friend of mine and not having ever been in here before I had my doubts but that was quickly changed when I was greeted by a very enthusiastic and friendly lady who was very excited to suggest a pizza that had "just come fresh out of the oven", one I already had my eyes on actually. Numero Uno Pizza lives up to its name. (it's name means "highest number one pizza for mouths", if I'm not mistaken. yes, I'm a genius). NUP is so popular that it has spawned two cute little baby bros within a few blocks, and many imitators. They brought sesame seed crusts to the Granville drag and are a huge contributor to those round white plates blowing around on Sunday mornings. The good turnover and variety of slices will satisfy any weekend warrior, even if you're closing one eye to order. This place is good enough to save your bar change for. I'm even a supporter of using your bus change, getting an extra slice, and just walking home. I LOVE trashy food. Numero Uno is kind of like the Simpsons -- yeah, it's been around for a long time, and you used to appreciate it a lot more a few years ago...but late at night, there really isn't a better choice. read more

This location got a refurbishment and is no longer the craphole in the wall it once was. However: The pizza was MUCH MUCH better in the old days. Situation now: The slice is up to 2.50$, the pizza is barely warm when you get it. All in all pretty much a disappointment. There are way better pizza joints in this town, however none of them is really close. If you want a slice on the go to prevent your next day hangover after going to one of the clubs (or what Vancouver THINKS is a club) then a pizza from this outlet will do the job. I have different standards and expectations for pizza, that is, there is good pizza and then there is cheap pizza. I think that Numero Uno (at the Davie location only!) falls into the rare category of pretty good yet cheap. The key to getting a delicious slice is to pick one of their most popular flavours to ensure maximum freshness - beef and blue cheese, hawaiian and spicy chicken to name a few. My personal fav is a sundried tomato and chicken creation that one particular girl who works on the weekends makes. I think this place should receive passing marks from both the sober and the intoxicated. read more

Several locations, but I usually go to the one on Davie, corner of Howe St. This looks like a regular pizza shop, with delivery. But at $2 the pizza slice, sesame seeds on the crust, and actually seeing them making the pizza, you understand the good deal. Far much better than the commercial franchises, if you need a quick bite for lunch, I highly recommend Pizza Uno. My favorite is the ground beef pizza, but the pepperoni and the Hawaiian are equally good. read more

They just renovated, so there's even more room inside the shop -- I imagine there will be more chairs, but they haven't installed them yet. This is the best pizza value for your money downtown, in our opinion. Pretty straightforward simple pizza, but good. Great for a slice late at night, or a full pizza for takeout. Love the sesame seeds on the crust. Only gripe is that it can be difficult to order over the phone. They used to take cash only, but now they take credit and debit cards. read more
