Was looking to try a new place for pizza and my partner had found on a reddit thread that this place was the next most suggested after wild flour pizza in Burnaby. We ordered online which was simple enough. I think if you pay cash/debit in store , you get a free pop with each pizza. We got the meat lovers and chef's best pizzas and the website said it would take 30 mins to be made. It is a small turn in off Canada way into a Plaza with a few parking spots. You cannot turn back left onto Canada Way by the way. The inside had a dated look , kinda like diner vibes. Pickup was quick. Nobody dining in. First thing I noticed was the pizzas were very heavy in weight. For a 10" pizza I thought the price point was a but high at $23, it jumps up to around $34 for a 12"( medium). However, the pizza was almost like a deep dish pizza as there was a lot more dough than usual pizzas but a generous amount of toppings. Meat lovers was packed with meat but I just felt it was a good several bites before it started to feel too dense and greasy for me. The crust was crisp and cooked nicely. It reminded me of homemade pizza in the way that nothing really stood out to me. It was good , and filling, but just no wow factor for me. I had the pleasure of tasting the most authentic and delicious pizza on earth! We discovered Viva Sue Pizza through a friend who only ever orders from them--and now we know why. One bite of their Vegetarian Pizza with mushrooms, onions, green pepper, fresh tomato, pineapple, and olives was absolutely to die for! We also ordered a Super Sue Pizza for my family--ham, mushrooms, pepperoni, onions, green pepper, and olives--and a Pepperoni Pizza Gulp! Lasagna = horrible. They put cheese on top layer and bake it. No cheese throughout, ans barely any sauce inside. I had the entire bottom "layer" just plain huge noodles. They really cheap out with the sauce. Very disappointed. read more

The pizza is outstanding, this is a long running family establishment in Burnaby, it's a stone throwaway from city hall, the museum and Burnaby lake. The service is wonderful very warm and inviting almost like family if everyone got along. The ambiance is clean and comfortable, they have photos of what I can only assume is family and friends all around the establishment. But the pizza is delicious, slices are large and the crust. Crunchy exterior with a pillowy interior, a healthy amount of toppings that balance the flavours well. The location isn't the best with the traffic on Canada way, lunchtime in the little strip mall can get pretty busy so plan accordingly. read more

Another Canadian landmark restaurant being sold to non-indigenous Canadian resident. at least that's what I've been told. It has not been substantiated ,wonderful food, wonderful family and the service is great. Like so many wonderful restaurants in Vancouver that have taken ownership by people that don't have the care nor the concern for their customers and eventually cut corners on quality to save money. Pizza by the slice, small local restaurant. Reminds me of New York dished Pizza But half the thickness. It was perfectly cheesy and the perfect amount of meat that is thoughtfully layered underneath the thick layer of cheese. The pizza came out fresh so it was extra delicious. Not much else to say except this place serves a ridiculously good pizza. They're priced a little higher than some other places nearby but for VERY good reason. No other fast food pizza place does a cheese blend like this in Metro Vancouver, the one here is really unmatched. If you like your pizza insanely cheesy, this is it. I've tried the Hawaiian and Shrimp Pineapple so far and both were great. Highly recommend Shrimp Pineapple if you like your seafood pasta, the flavour really reminded me of one, kinda bougie lol. Viva Sue Pizza is not for the thin slice pizza lovers. This place piles on the tomato sauce, cheese, meat, vegetables and more cheese. Did I mention they use 100% fat cheese here? That's right, no half fat or dairy free cheese. I ordered a half ham, mushroom and pineapple pizza and half ham, pepporoni and mushroom pizza. The total bill came to only $14.00 including tax for the medium. After polishing off 3 slices, I can barely move. First of all, I have to say the friendly service was a great start. The crust, OMG love how they sprinkle cheese around the rim of this deep dish style crust. Ordered 3 pizzas for a dinner party for 12 1) Super Sue - this is basically their house's special and was very well received by our group. Green peppers, onions, black olives, ham & pepperoni. 2) Chef's Best - beef with feta cheese. Also, lots of positive feedback. The tomatoes looked amazing on this pizza. 3) Double Cheese - I had these with 2 of my nieces and personally I love the simplicity of this pizza. It was so aromatic and is simply delicious! Oh man, how I missed this pizza! I grew up on it and randomly decided to try it again. It is everything a pizza should be (in my opinion) - loaded with toppings, super cheesy, with a thick and chewy (but not dry) crust. Another plus is that they open earlier than other places (10 am) and that they're a long-standing family-owned business. I got their Super Sue (Ham, Mushrooms, Pepperoni, Onions, Green Pepper, Olives) and it was absolutely delicious! My Wife and I discovered viva Sue Pizza in 1997 when we'd just moved to Burnaby and had tried a few different Pizza places, only to get the expected average, or less, every time / Our first engagement was ordering over the phone and the Gentleman who took our order was outgoing, friendly and concise / The conciseness in his demeanour and heartwarming attitude of "Sue" are very important ingredients in each Pizza that we've ever had from there / On top of that foundation are the real and fresh toppings that I'm proud to boast about, share with friends and feel good about consuming / We moved to Chilliwack in 2004 and (sorry, Wackians) still go back to Viva Sue for the best Pizza we've had in 25 years! / It's not always convenient but a light re-heat on a low Bbq. setting for 5 and it's like it just came out of the Oven / In mid. I ordered a capicolla and mushroom pizza, with tortellini as a side. When the pizza came an hour and 15 minutes later, it was very disappointing. The pizza had obviously been fully cooked, then left out, then to correct the mistake of old cold pizza they threw on some new cheese and recoiled it. The result was gummy, over cooked cheese and tough over cooked bread. The pasta was fine. When I called, they promised a new pizza. I was leaving so they agreed to send me one in a couple days. When I called, the man was rude and seemed angry and brusque. He insisted I make an order of at least $20, and they would add the new pizza on the side. What I was supposed to do with all this pizza I don't know, but I do know I was not interested in gambling on this place again. I found this place while my brother in law was visiting from California, his a big foodie always looking for the best local digs. For takeout pizza, this place is one of the best. I usually prefer thin crust pizza because I find that thick crust usually ends up getting soggy by the time you get your pizza home. Somehow this place manages to make a thick, loaded pizza stay crispy. The slices are like a meal. I can eat 2 tops and I'm stuffed! The cheese is full fat mozzarella so it's creamy and delicious... and lots of it! I ordered the Chef's best. It's lean beef, onions, green pepper, fresh tomatoes and feta. For some classic pizza, Viva Sue is the place to go. Located in a old looking strip mall along with a couple of other eateries, we were at first weary to enter the space. Inside, the air lingers with the smell of pizza. The decor is simple and old, and it feels like you've travelled back in time. Perhaps the pizza is best for take out, perhaps eating It at the nearby Deer Lake Park. We got a vegetarian pizza and a pepperoni and mushroom pizza.
