I like to shop at the farm for fruits and veggies so for me this truck is not only convenient but it's also really good food. Wait can be a little long if there are ppl in front of you but I guess it would be the same at any other truck. So far I had curry, pad thai and tom kah and liked it all. Delicious place to stop for lunch in upcountry Kula area!

I will preface this review by stating that I AM NOT a Thai food aficionado. Not at all a fan of curry, or pad thai....I have found that I have a distaste for things cooked in coconut milk, and generally things that are overly sugary and sweet, as much of Thai food can be. With that said, the food at Nui's is AMAZING! I have tried the fried rice with tofu, pad thai, beef salad, roast pork 'heaven,' and pumpkin curry, all of which I deem absolutely delightful! What sets them apart is the brilliant balancing of flavors. Sweet, acid, heat, sours, bitter and fragrant aromatics... nothing too 'saucy'... take for example the pad thai. I am used to pad thai that is coated in some slippery sweet peanut sauce... here the peanut sauce is served on the side (delicious) and the flavors of the pad thai with out it evoke a more subtle and savory dish, much more my preference. Most entrees are served with a fresh salad, and generally are loaded down with vegetables. The portions are huge, and everything is made fresh to order. I am thrilled to live upcountry and a mere two miles away from this family farm food truck. Gone are the days of wondering about the 'I love Thai food so much!!' ilk. I was treated rudely and my experience was disappointing. I ordered two meals, then one smoothie. I proceeded to ask for 2 cups and offered to pay for the cup. I wanted to split the smoothie up for my very small toddlers. The gentleman denied me and made no attempt at understanding or accommodation. Normally I don't really care about service, just the taste of the food. But this is an exception. A total of 6 of us decided to grab food here after visiting the Maui Nui farm market because the lady at the market was super nice and friendly and the items at the market was fresh from the farm. We expected the same quality from the food truck because it's a family owned business. We ordered a total of 3 pork heavens, 1 smoothie, 1 curry, and 2 Pad Thais. They gave us everything but missed one pork heaven. When asked about it, they screamed at us for lying. One of us didn't get a receipt because we told them to keep the change, so we couldn't even show them everything we ordered. We left immediately after because the toxic attitude just completely ruined our vacation mood. When we looked at the food later, they also didn't give the right protein for the order. Furthermore, one of us asked for no green onion and we saw him writing it down, but it came with green onion anyways. Food quality wise, it's average. This was a hidden gem that we found on our way back from Haleakala. We were starving by lunchtime as we had woken up at 2:30 am to watch the sunrise from the summit and wanted something to warm up our insides after spending 1.5 hrs in freezing temperature. Kit (the chef) is very friendly and served up flavorful Pad Thai, Fried Rice and Mixed veg curry and even the peanut dressing with the small salad was delicious. They use fresh veges from their farm behind the food truck adding to the amazing flavor in all dishes. We requested spicy food and Kit gave us spicy sauce and peppers on the side. The sauce and the peppers were extra-extra-spicy so really glad that he gave those on the side (and not mixed in) else we would have burnt our insides! Definitely recommend! read more

Driving back from a morning of hiking around Haleakala Crater we realized we were absolutely starving and in need of almost immediate sustenance! So, of course, I pulled out my iphone, opened up my trusty yelp app and searched to see what our options were in the area. We were immediately drawn to Nui's Garden Kitchen because, well hello, it was Thai food, had great reviews, had a garden to walk around in while waiting and there was a fresh fruit and veg stand in the same area so we could pick up some provisions for later! We arrived to find that the credit card machine was down and so we had to backtrack a mile or so back up to a gas station to grab some cash before we could order. We decided to go it safe with a chicken pad thai and a chicken curry, placed our order, walked around the gardens a little bit, patted the big dog and then sat down to eat our food. There is seating in the back behind the food truck, its nothing fancy but it works. Both the Pad Thai and Curry were delicious! The Pad Thai came with a little extra peanut sauce and a small cucumber and carrot salad which cut the heat a little. Serving sizes were generous. Best of all, they serve Thai Coffee!! read more
