Discovered Nudibranch through the Red Book and honestly thought it was a bit mid. The portions were very small, though I assume that's intentional since most dishes are designed to be tapas style. Mushrooms - 4/5 Enjoyed the cheesy mushroom flavor. Simple but satisfying Chicken Sandwich - 4.25/5 Probably the standout dish. The chicken was big, juicy, and very tender. Highly recommend. Hamachi - 3.75/5 Liked the tangy sauce pairing with the clementine Uni Soba - 2.75/5 The uni tasted quite fishy and the soba itself was fairly bland, though the flakes added a nice bit of texture Sea Bream - 3/5 A bit disappointing for an entree portion. I did appreciate that it was perfectly deboned, but the grilled top with added dill and pumpkin purée didn't pair that well IMO Frog Legs - 2.75/5 Not usually something I order, but we saw a lot of tables getting it so we gave it a try. Unfortunately it had a noticeably fishy taste, would skip next time.

Came for dinner with a friend on a Friday night. We were able to grab a reservation and were seated promptly. The intertior design is chic and zen, perfect for a small group hang or date night. The service was great and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I got a pandan cocktail which was refreshing, slightly fruity and quite smooth. My friend got a glass of bical which was paired well with our dishes. We got 3 drink snacks, a small plate and a big plate to share. All the dishes were amazing! The frog legs and duck croquettes were a must. I've never tried frog legs before and it tasted like a combination of chicken and white fish. The uni soba was also refreshing and filling. The sea bream was grilled perfectly. we also enjoyed the beets and potatoes as sides. All the desserts sound delicious but we were so full so we ended up getting the chestnut dish. It looked like a poptart and was super fun and unique to eat. Nudibranch is totally worth the hype. For restaurants that have fine and creative dishes, the service really makes or breaks it and nudibranch totally nailed it.

If I could, I'd give 4.5 stars, and the only reason I'm holding back is because this place was great but we ordered a limited amount. The interior is cute and comfortable and all the servers were attentive and knowledgable. We had a reservation and had no issues being seated immediately. We started with the hamachi which was 10/10 delicious. Light and refreshing and a great start to the meal. I'll admit the chicken sandwich was bigger than we anticipated and could absolutely be a meal on its own. We split it, pretending it might be too large to finish but it was too good not to. I will say the pork chop was the star of the show. This was so good that I watched my husband gnaw at the remains, not wanting to leave anything behind. The kimchi was nothing to phone home about but good, and the scallion pancake was absolutely a notch above the rest. We didn't plan on getting dessert, but the masala chai tres leches looked too good to pass up and we left nothing behind. It was rich, cinnamon-y, and super satisfying in texture. I will be dreaming about that cake! We agreed we would return at some point, and should we have a similar experience, I will bump this to 5 stars!

Uni soba

Incredibly expensive for the food that you're getting. Completely not worth it. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing which was what I was expecting given the prices. Half the menu I could make myself at home I ordered a pretty large portion of the menu too Duck croquette --3/5. Smaller than a golf ball and didn't taste any duck. Still a tasty fried morsel, but hard to go wrong with fried foods in general Endive salad--2/5. I've made better at home, why did I pay 24 dollars for this. Cavatelli--4/5, the one savory dish I actually genuinely enjoyed, super chewy pasta with tasty sauce. Small portion for 34 dollars though. Mushroom egg yolk--3/5. Literally just tasted like sautéed mushroom with egg yolk (I feel silly for expecting more but given the price, I was). Still tasty but why am I such a dummy, it was a small portion for 26 dollars Uni soba--2/5. Uni was fishy. Nothing special about the tiny forkful of cold soba either. Pork rib chop--4/5. Enjoyed it but a bit dry Nori rice -- 3/5. Chai tres leches --5/5. Was tasty and unique if a bit sweet I would have enjoyed this place more if they cut all the prices by 1/2 to 1/3 because honestly most of the dishes seemed like they required minimal prep

We came during restaurant week as I had heard great things from a friend. It was definitely an interesting meal but not sure I'd pay more than the restaurant week price. We ordered different things so that we could try a bit of everything. Highlights included the soba (the best), frog legs, and potatoes. The restaurant was definitely busy but service was still great!

First things first, amazing service. We were seated quickly and the waiter was super attentive with introducing the menu. He made a thoughtful recommendation for a cocktail and was super nice about switching it out for me since I wasn't a fan. The best drink of the night was the Pandan Punch. Perfectly sweet and strong, and super fresh and fragrant flavor. The Heat of Passion was nice and sweet too. The Velvet Tuxedo was the one I switched out, but to be fair, I am more of a sweet, fruity drink. We opted for the price-fixe for two, which was $72. Pretty decently sized portions, but some dishes were definitely better than others. All three snacks were great. I particularly loooved the Duck Confit Croquettes, crispy exterior and indulgent filling. The sauce it was paired with was also delicious. Beef Tartare and Soba Noodles were good as well, but nothing mindblowing. I personally wouldn't order either of these again. The most disappointing part of the meal was the Hanger Steak-- the sauce was a bit salty and the steak was soooo tough. It was honestly hard to even cut through. In hindsight, we should've ordered the Pork Ribs instead. Although there were some hits and some misses, I'd say my overall experience at Nudibranch was still positive, especially with the excellent service, but unfortunately, I think it was a one-time spot for me.

Walking in I was surprised how cozy the space is. The bookshelf and potted plants made me feel like I was having supper at a close friend's house rather than a restaurant. Every time I looked up, I either saw myself looking back at me or the crew whipping up drinks at the bar. I enjoyed the ambience and after enjoying the appetizers and soba - I was really looking forward to the main courses. The steak was undercooked for my preference and the panna cotta was not it. The addition of olive oil to it was very weird. It was made up for it a bit by the funfetti cake, but the disappoint sandwiched in the middle left an off taste in my mouth (both figuratively and literally). I really wanted to like this place, but not for me. I'm open to giving it another try in the future, and maybe I'll come back and amend this review.

Came here with a party of 4 on a Monday. Was able to make a reservation online a few hours before. They have an eclectic menu with Spanish, Korean and French influences. We got the prefixed menu and everything was delicious! We got to pick a some dishes from each section. The highlights were the duck confit croquettes, hamachi, gnocchi, and asparagus and pea salad. Both entrees (cod and hanger steak) were great, can't go wrong with either! And the caulilini was our favorite side. Don't sleep on the desserts! The omija strawberry meringue was amazing. It was nice to come with a party of 4 to try more dishes. The service was also great and the server explained the menu and the food well. Really enjoyed dinner here!

The service was great, we walked in with no reservation on a Friday night and was told we had a 30 min wait but was immediately called back for a table. We decided to try the prix fixe menu. The patatas and the duck croquettes were DELICIOUS. The frog legs were an experience, they really do taste like chicken. Would not order again. The steak tartare and the mushrooms were my favorite dishes of the night. We went for the bouillabaisse and whole whiting as our main dish. The fish was prepared so beautifully, it was soft and flaky. However, the flavors left me wanting more. We also chose the beets as our side, which were really great on their own. I could do with less of the mayo-type-sauce piled on top. The space was gorgeous and the fresh flowers were beautiful. Will have to return to try other items!

Finally had dinner here! Food is fantastic. Their nori rice.... Beautiful. I still think about it-- so simple, yet SO delicious. Cocktails are alwayssssss so good. Very consistent in their quality. Service was impeccable. His name was Alexis. Shout out to you Alexis! He made delicious sake recs and was so attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Excited to return ;-) not to mention... their restaurant is just simply aesthetically pleasing. Well done, Nudibranch

Came as a party of 4 and went with the prix-fixe, which was definitely the way to go. Very fairly priced for a prix-fixe especially for the amount of food you get. There was a solid amount of diversity in the options and some definitely worked better than others, but overall the food was good. Presentation of the food was lovely, which I always appreciate. Definitely a solid option for the area.

The decor in this space is really friendly, like walking into a familiar home. It feels like a casual dinner party more than a restaurant, and I really enjoyed that. We got the set for 2, and everything was really good. The frog legs reminded me of tasty chicken wings, and the soba was excellent with the ikura. The uni on the soba, though, wasn't quite as sweet as I was hoping, but it still was good. The cod curry was really well cooked. We got this with the seaweed rice, and wow did it blow my mind. The fish was soft, the sauce was creamy, and it all went down so easily. Lastly, gotta try that cheesecake. This was the best cheesecake I've had so far in NYC (and maybe anywhere). It's thick but light, sweet, and had a really fragrant flavor. Super addicting to eat, and I'd honestly go back just for this cheesecake. Definitely get it, and go check this spot out!

Food - tried the pre-fixe menu/ fixed cost meal at $72 per pax which featured interesting things like fried frog leg, gochujang pork ribs, bone marrow steak tartare. Steak tartare was slightly letdown but the rest was great. Had a good cocktail too Service - attentive waiter through the night Ambiance - great for date night actually, no complaints about decor or sound

Wow East Village! You have yourself a gem with Rake Wine Bar! We were waiting for our dinner…read morereservations and decided to stop in here for a pre-dinner drink and bite. I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

The hwe crudo was refreshing and delicious, and the salad was also a standout -- bright, crisp, and really well-balanced. But the best thing we had by far was the dak mandu, the crab/chicken dumplings. Those alone are worth coming back for. The ssam lettuce wraps were good, though they read a little more like Jewish brisket with a spicy bean sauce than what I expected from a Korean lettuce wrap. Still tasty, just a different vibe. Honestly, this would've been a 5-star meal if I didn't leave with three mosquito bites. Great food, great service, great wine -- just maybe bring bug spray.

First off, the front door is mounted on flimsy plastic hinges, so every time someone opens it, it swings open violently and knocks the vase off the nearby table. The service was somehow even worse. When I was there on Tuesday, May 19th from 8-10 PM, there was exactly ONE bartender working the entire place -- both inside and outside -- and she was unbelievably inattentive. My date and I sat at the bar for TWENTY MINUTES before she even acknowledged us or asked if we wanted drinks. I literally had to call out "Excuse me" just to order a $25 quarter-filled glass of wine. Embarrassing all around. And when we were ready to leave and wanted the check, the female bartender working on Tuesday May 19th from 8-10 PM was busy standing in the corner chatting with someone instead of helping customers. I haven't seen someone move this slowly or care this little since the DMV. TO MANAGEMENT - this was absolutely horrible, embarrassing, and unprofessional service. Clean up your act, and hire a second or even a third bartender.
