I called a couple of days ago and was able to talk with Tal in regards to possible price and date he could make it. We agreed on today and he was prompt - exactly at 10am. My husband filled him in on the info I had given him the other day & he set to cleaning our locks and making sure the keys we have work properly on the 4 doors that were all to have the same lock/key system. Our system was not what he was expecting, as they are not a deadbolt/lock system, but inside the actual door, but he was able to do everything to make it all work well again. Found them on yelp with good reviews..These guys came to my in-laws house and when I spoke to him on the phone he said it was $45 plus the parts, turns out it was a $266 bill, should have asked for a quote first before actually having him come out and work on the lock set, which he installed a new dead bolt mechanism and this is after I already disassembled the door/lock set. I could have bought a new lockset for $190 at the hardware store. After the install at 6:25pm we notice the door handle was installed sideways vs the one next to it, we immediately called and txtd him pics(6:28pm see time stamp on pics of txt messages) because he said that there could be no problem and that the knob can only be installed one way and sent him pics, his response: "Get an Allen screw and adjust it, it won't take you 2 secs to do it, I can't come back anymore" and that is how you loose future clients. Instead of twisting the story just say the "Truth" I would have appreciated that and would have changed my review for being honest and sincere, everyone makes mistakes, but dont blame your customers for your incompetence and try to think that you can fool people who read your response to this review. So, my family and I have been putting off our damaged home main door lock for almost years now. We've settled on just using the spring lock and neglecting the dead lock. How dangerous! So, today I called him right before 10am, and though he didn't answer because he was probably driving, i instantaneously received and automated text response saying so. Right after I recieved a phone call from Tal, the main guy. He was able to meet me in 30-45min, and he kept me up to date on his ETA. AWESOME! WHEN he got here he was pleasant and went right away to examination of our locks. We have a little annoying dog that yaps at everything (and is still going as I type this) but it didn't bother him and he showed no negative response to her which shows true character. We went over rates which he clearly explained my options ie changing over just the dead bolt vs the handle or both vs redoing the entire house with or without retaining our existing key patterns. It was nice knowing he could work with what I wanted. He keeps a nice variety of inventory in stock in his truck, so no need to go back and forth to home depot etc. He even allowed me to watch his work so I could lean and taught me a few tricks on re setting a basic key cylinder. This guy was just efficient all around no nonsense. He takes cash of course and also credit card which is super convenient. I was at Stewart Ranch Horse Camp in Point Reyes National Seashore...somehow on our first day there I managed to lose my keys to my trailer...as well as the key that operates the hydraulic lift on my trailer. While time riding my horse at Point Reyes is always time well spent, two of our rides were basically retracing our steps to try to see where the keys may have landed. If they fell out at Wildcat Beach, they will never be found. I called every locksmith I could find, but none would go so far out of their way to help me out...EXCEPT Tal Niv of Novato Locksmith Services. We made an appointment for the morning we were due to head home, still nervous we might be stuck regardless. However, when Tal arrived he was able to quickly open the trailer door for us, as well as managing to bypass the locking mechanism so that the hydraulic jack would raise. He had the consideration to not simply drill the locks out as I had spare keys at home. I was SO relieved to be able to load up our horses and get our six plus hour drive underway almost right on time.
