This place is the only place that always duplicates my keys without me needing to come back because it did not work. They know what they are doing. The only comment I would have is they are so in demand that they might be closed when you come. Call ahead and see the opening hours. They are worth it. read more

Pleasant, efficient, on time. Greg is great! He advised me over the phone which to order online. When it arrived, I made the appointment. I love my new keypad lock . No more getting locked out. read more

Could not be better. Greg and Melvin are both knowledgeable, patient, pleasant, prompt. -- all the good things! Call them! js

Very knowledgeable. My husband and I had a difficult situation and they met the challenge

Very prompt, careful and conscientious. Would recommend this company. Although the prices are expensive, $500 Marin to San Francisco. read more

I've used Marin Lock and Safe for a few jobs. The company got turned over to new ownership a couple years ago and I'm happy to say they still do great work. Greg came out to install a deadbolt lock, helped me pick a good one that could take my current house keys, and when he was done the door even worked better. I highly recommend. read more

Service was timely but incredibly dishonest. My wife was locked out with our baby and was ultimately charged over three times what she was quoted over the phone. When I called to understand why she was charged so much, I was told that it was "emergency" and "holiday" pricing. The reality is that she was take. advantage of by this dishonest company. Do not work with this dishonest company!!!!! read more

had an issue with a key fob on my subaru. They knew exactly how to fix it and the price was exceptional. The parts were less than the best price I could find on the internet. The repair took all of 10 minutes. read more

I had a set of new locks re-keyed. Great! I went back to ask about another service/product and was looked at like I was an idiot. No clarifying questions, just a "were fresh out of stock, we don't carry that". So, thanks guys! Love being treated like an idiot. read more

The technician was dishonest. I was drastically over charged for a lock and was provided an invoice and vague receipt by text message.

Great job getting our antique pieces unlocked quickly, and repairing a very old piece of furniture

Chris was very knowledgeable, helpful, and patient and got me the current chip key for my Ford Escape after the ones I bought online didn't work and I needed a solution right away because without a key to program the car would not start. I'm so glad they are open on Saturdays! read more

Got out today to fix the broken lock on the front door to our business. Did great work and we've also used them to re-key locks on our business. Thanks! read more

Amazing! I found a Total Winner with these guys. I had brought and obscure lock from a 50 year old car to another locksmith and all I got was an hour of waiting around for nothing. Here I got a pleasant greeting and a positive 'we can do this' attitude and sure as heck the next day it was done! You have my business from here on out! Thanks to Kevin and his team. read more

They gave me an amazing deal on creating new car keys and programming them to my car. I am very pleased and thankful for the deal! Their service was speedy and very professional. read more

I was looking for a home safe for basic needs and had gone to a store in Novato that was useless. These guys are great! I had no idea what to get and Kevin spent a good 15-20 minutes on the phone talking me through the options and different sizes. I went into the store the next day and the one we had picked didn't really work due to size but he spent another 10 minutes or so helping me find the perfect safe. Greg and Kevin delivered it that week and went through all the instructions. Overall I'm very impressed, highly recommend them and plan to go back for any key/lock/safe needs! read more

After relocating from San Francisco, we have required a lot of services from local businesses. Like many customers new to an area I looked online at vendors that were geographically close to me and if they had semi-decent Yelp reviews. We have now ordered two different on-site jobs from Marin Lock & Safe and we have been very satisfied both times. They arrived when scheduled, performed their work skillfully and were done sooner than expected. We asked Marin Lock & Safe to re-key our entire household, replace some locking systems that were no longer functional, and we will gladly use them for any future business. I highly recommend them to anybody interested in quality work. read more

Marin Lock & Safe saved me! They were able to unlock an old cabinet that was jammed & locked. I called several locksmiths and they do not do old furniture anymore. It is a lost art. They still have the old keys to try and fit old locks. The head guy had to come out to get it unlocked, after another employee had already tried. The lack of 5 stars is because I had to call about 6 or 7 times and leave messages and texts through Yelp. I had to be relentless! Communication in the office is horrible. read more

We needed a lock re-keyed. Marin Lock and Safe came out and were here for 15 minutes and handed me the bill for $285 for two new keys. What? Replaced a perfectly fine bolt that didn't need replacing and decided to tack on $240 for ...? Happy to pay people for their time but this is absurd. read more

They are really a time and life saver . I checked 6 places in Marine County to copy my boat keys ,nobody could do that but Marine lock . A little over priced ,$9 for a key , but who cares , they did a good job ! Highly recommended . read more

Love this place. Found this hidden gem on yelp, called in, sent some photos of my safe. Got a call back to come in, and the magic was completed! Thank you Greg for being able to unlock my dead battery safe. It was a very quick and easy process. I highly recommend this business! Cheers! read more

I need to have keys made a lot and have used local hardware stores who do NOT calibrate their key cutter so the keys are slightly off. (sad face to Goodmans) Of course you have to go back to test the key to find out if it really works. This company makes great keys and are always spot on. I had to copy some floor lock keys for an older elevator. Those are odd keys with round key part. NOBODY even in the city had those key blanks. Marin Lock and Safe did. That was a relief. Thanks. read more

I had a very good experience. Greg was knowledgeable and gave me some good advice which resulted in less work for him. Obviously a quality operation, with old-school customer service. Recommended read more

This locksmith helped me achieve my bike repair! What good fortune is that!?!? I was biking along in an unfamiliar area, in need of tools to do a simple repair, but I was not carrying the tools. I happened upon this locksmith working out of his van, so I asked for help, and boy did I get some! They were super friendly and helpful to this stranger. Thanks a ton! read more

Love Marin Lock and Safe! Over the years, with a number of experiences, it has been consistently excellent. Steve usually does my jobs, and he is great. Highly recommended! read more

Friend went by during normal hours to have some duplicate keys made and they were out, emergency. She called the store and Greg agreed to meet her after hours to get the keys made. While there, I discussed an issue I had with my Baldwin front door lock, replacement cost $1,100, and Greg managed to come out the next day. He took it all apart and put it back together and now its working as or better than new. Greg is a craftsman, many probably would have tried to sell me a new system. He was happy to fix it even though it took him over an hour and a half. Did it for same flat rate he quoted. read more

I didn't realize how complex key/ security was until being educated by this very competent shop. I highly recommend them not only for their skill but because they are very kind people. The only complaint is they close at 4p but this is much better than 90% of the locksmith companies out there who don't even have a storefront. Use these guys! read more

Good service, but complete rip-off. Didnt charge the actual price of the deadbolt and charging approx $180 for 30 minutes is clearly nuts. Not recommended. read more

Greg came out as soon as he received our message; Covid-19 didn't make it easy, either. He was prompt and efficient and problem was solved within minutes. Plus, we got some great advice on why you shouldn't use cheap locks :) read more

I get keys made on a regular basis! They have never failed me on an incorrectly cut key like Pink Hardware has on multiple times. Makes life easier when things are done right the 1st time! read more

Wow! Worst. Business. Ever. They did not show up on Thursday. When I called to see what happened, they denied ever having agreed to, but they would show up that night, if possible, or at the very latest on Friday between 2-4. They did not show up that night, so I called this morning to confirm that they would be here today - Friday - between 2 and 4. They said yes. At 3:15, I called to see if they were on their way. And they denied ever having agreed to come today at all! Three no shows in 2 days, all to fix a problem that recurred after they supposedly fixed it months ago. Un-real. read more

Saw the sign on 3rd St in San Rafael and stopped in to see if anyone could help me with an old lock where the parts are worn. Talked with Cristina and Kevin and they both were very knowledgeable and helpful. They even dug through their old parts inventory to see if they could find a fit. I will definitely use these guys again! read more

Marin Lock and Safe are as good as it gets. There is always a wonderfully helpful, smiling face waiting to help you, and they always put their customers first above anything else. They will work around your schedule to help you with any lock issues and charge very decent prices for all of their work. My coworkers and office have all been using them for years now without a singe hiccup. read more

Always great service and a solution even with oddball items. Greg is easy to work with and they are the only locksmith whose storefront is open on Saturday. All good!! read more

Love these guys!! Took in a high end double keyed dead bolt lock that had broken, I could see the snapped off flange inside the cylinder. I'd bought it from Home Depot a year ago. Kevin looked at it and said, OK, come back in 15mins. I did some other shopping and returned, the lock fully repaired, the charge was $6.50 plus tax for an absurd total of just $7.07. Amazing skills, service, price. read more

Needed a Lexus car key cut and the Lexus service dept told me to go to Marin Safe and Lock on 3rd street. The young men that were there were very knowledgeable and had my key done in five minutes so I could go back to Lexus to have it programmed. If I had not brought my own key that I got online, they would have been able to make me one just knowing make, model and year. So if I decide to have a third one made I don't have to go through getting one online again. What he quoted me was probably one third of the cost I would have paid to have Lexus supply one. The guys were great and very kind. Thanks Marin Safe & Lock! read more

I would give Greg a 10-star if I could! I call Marin Lock at 8am as I couldn't get in my house using the keys I got. Greg arrived quickly in about 45 mins and helped me get in. I got my keys from other lock smith and automatic key stations but most of them don't work well. Greg made me a few new keys quickly and they work perfectly. I will go to Greg for all my key business in future. He truly knows what he is doing!!!! read more

messed up a $30 key and refused to replace it. extremely disappointed. -automated machine was not properly programmed to cut this key, leaving a portion of the slot at less than full depth. -attempted to rough it in with a manual machine -offered to "finish" existing key with subsequently updated machine programming; this is not an option because there are places on the roughed-in key that do not match up to OEM already, making it junk. -when i left they were to call me when they determined whether or not they could source a replacement OEM key. i never got a call. -after calling twice i got a call back (voicemail). subsequently, had to call two more times and wait the better part of a day for a return call. "we are not responsible for keys that customer's bring in" he claimed the roughed-in key matched the original key; it was burred to hell and clearly differed in multiple places -it seems to me they do not want to take responsibility for the work they agree to take on, and in addition, have very low standards of what constitutes acceptable work. read more

Great guys, over the top service. I recently had some difficult keys made and they worked on multiple versions until it finally worked. They saved me $$ since my next step was replacing the locks. read more
