My first meal in NYC/Brooklyn, and my last dinner. Both were outstanding! Came with my kids after traveling across the country on a red-eye flight and dropping bags at the airbnb. Had the kimchee fried rice, which came with fresh salad greens, and a coffee. It was perfect for a rainy morning, filling and warming from the inside out. The ambiance is inviting - love the large communal table, and the beautiful lighting above it, what a creative use of artful ceiling tiles! The staff and service were excellent - amiable, efficient. They have free wifi, and being a Harry Potter fan, I got a kick out of the password being a spell from the book series. The whole family had our last dinner here and the food was delicious again. Six people has six different dishes, and everyone was fully satisfied. We all agreed it was better than what we had at the Korean restaurant where we ate in Queens. Although the dishes were typical Korean favorites, they were done extremely well, with quality ingredients, and generous portions. Highly recommend giving it a try! If we lived here we'd be regulars for sure. read more

Great ambiance! Yummy food, good prices, happy hour (soju shot and a hite for 5 bucks), we got the bibimbap bulgogi and the bulgogi burrito pork, and cold brews for brunch. It was a lot of food for two people. Only one suggestion that the fried egg should be less cooked so maybe say that when you order. Friendly service and educated about brewing. Decided to stop in and grab breakfast and do some work. The coffee and bagel I got were good, although overpriced for the area... was rather off that they don't leave napkins out and they only give you ONE with your food and you have to ask for additional... in which you receive just one. Very odd. It does have a rather spacious set up which is great as I saw many individuals working on laptops and didn't feel too cramped. Service was good. New house in Brooklyn means new places to eat in Brooklyn! Was searching through cafes in the area when Nostrand popped up, it was the one of the first results and one of the closest. Originally, I was going to try some other place but this place being a "Korean" cafe pulled me in - I remember before *actually* moving in my boyfriend and I passed by the cafe while exploring the neighborhood and I made a joke because I thought it was extremely odd to see "korean" on the window. Anyways, I ordered the fried rice with bulgogi and a smoothie (a really weird combo) and was surprised by how much rice there was! The food itself was delicious! The actual cafe though? Very friendly energy, good service, and definitely a place to work or study as they have free wifi! My only little problem was that it seems overpriced. $6/7 for a normal sized smoothie is mind blowing to me. Other than that everything was great!! A korean man I assumed to be the owner was there and was very polite and the one worker was really great at getting the food out to me right away! I absolutely love this place :) the bibim gooksoo is delicious and perfect for lunch during a long day of cafe-working and reading. The service is always so lovely, and the coffee is amazing. I find myself adding much less sugar than I usually do (I usually love my sugar with some coffee) because it's pretty smooth and sweet on its own! The atmosphere of the place is so comfortable and cozy: a must for me if I'm set to be reading here for a few hours. I love the food here. It's simple, direct, full of flavor, and I appreciate a time I can get bibimbap in my area without traveling all the way to Manhattan or South Brooklyn, perhaps. The bulgogi is very well cooked and has a beautiful, fresh flavor. One star off (and I hate doing this!) for not installing blinds on your windows. The sun glare is unbelievable. The bulgogi is sweet yet savory, I had no idea what to expect as this was my first time trying it, but I loved it. I would definitely come back here. I will say the service was a bit slow but nonetheless it was a very worthwhile experience. The burrito came with rice, two small pieces of avocado, and my choice of pork bulgogi while the sandwich came with a delicious brioche bun, lettuce, tomatoes and sweet bulgogi. I LOVE this new(ish) coffee shop in the neighborhood. The owner is such a great guy and his food and drinks are all absolutely phenomenal. I look forward to the breakfast wrap or breakfast tacos nearly every weekend, and one of the best things they offer is their delicious house made fresh kimchi and hot sauce. Just grab an empty mason jar from the shelf, and they'll fill it up with the most amazing kimchi you've ever had to take home. Also make sure you get their hot sauce, I haven't had sauce that authentic since being in Korea. read more
