The food was not nice - the crispy cauliflower came bathed in a sauce so definitely not crunchy. The naan bread was greasy and the samaso chaan was bland and not intact - just a spoonfull of mush. Great atmosphere, service and Indian food. We had a number of idshes. My favourite was the chili fish which had tender pieces of fish encased in a light and spicy batter. The aloo cauliflower came plentiful and spicy. A really good accompiment to the butter chicken which was my husband's favourite. Rice and naan were good but usual. I would go here again to sit and chat, but it wouldn't be the first place that I would go to indian food. Kinda more on the expensive side without the flavours reaching thier capacity. read more

I am a celiac and ordered here with a coworker at uber eats. I violently got ill three hours later which is typical of gluten going through my system. I knew instantly what happened, and it happened at work. I am still sick today, and I phoned Nosh to talk to the manager about how sick I was and how I am positive I was fed gluten. The man on the phone referred me to the website. Wouldn't let me talk to anyone just said, leave an email. Edit: the manager did say they would refund for my food. Also mentioned that the falafel was not gf, but there is a button that allows you to select gf and we mentioned in the notes I was a celiac. That was somehow missed, but at least my coworker is being refunded. I recommend no Celiacs go here. The past 24 hours were hell. read more

As someone who often hangs out in the 124 Street area, I have passed Nosh many times but never stopped in, despite several of my friends singing the cafe's praises. That changed today when I went in for lunch with one of the aforementioned friends. I noticed the menu had a lot of wraps, main dishes, chai drinks (hot and iced), and Western food as well like sandwiches and breakfast items. The place has a very classy vibe and it smells fantastic in there. One can order at the counter, or have table service. Given the time of day, I was surprised it was not busier, but lots of people were coming and going during the lunch hour for take-out. I had an iced chai, which was sweet and delicious. It was also less expensive than in other places in the area known for their chai. To eat, I had a palak paneer wrap, which had lots of chunks of paneer, some potato, and hints of cilantro, giving it a more complex flavour. The size and price were right, and we were served quite quickly. I was so impressed that I stopped in here again later in the day to get another iced chai to go, and grabbed a take-out menu. Summary: good food, terrible service -if you must eat here, get take out, or definitely use a Groupon. TBH the staff is more focused on preparing take-out orders - if you actually sit in the restaurant, prepare to be neglected. More miss than hit I'm afraid. I've been to Nosh at least 5 times, and while the food is mostly good (not great) the service is mostly bad. This last visit was definitely my very last. There were no less than three errors with our order. Wrong drink, wrong entrée order (even though the server clarified the order), we asked for things that never came. Our order for three people (four dishes total) took 2 hours to prepare, and we were the only people in the restaurant for the first hour. We all had one drink each at the start of the first hour and were never approached for another, nor were empty glasses ever removed, in 2 hours! When I finally got up and pointed out how long our meals were taking, I was told it was our fault because we weren't ready to order entrées the first time the server asked (never mind it took the one appetizer 45 minutes to come out). It's often quiet here in the evening, and I have no doubt that Remedy up the road is giving Nosh a run for their money. With the consistently lousy and slow service, I wonder how much longer Nosh will survive. It's certainly struck out one too many times for me. read more

I visited Nosh Cafe this week for a coworkers birthday in a party of 8. Of the 8 of us, 3 of us would reorder the same dish again and the other 5 didn't care for their food. Myself - the iced chai was excellent but the samosas were on the blander side. It was also a bit odd that I waited about 10 minutes longer than everyone else at our table for my samosas but no big deal. My main was the Vegetarian platter with 2 salad options and paneer (Indian cheese). Now, Paneer is my very favourite in the world! But the Tikka Paneer here was odd - rubbery even. The other person in our group who ordered the same dish had one bite and didn't eat the rest of his paneer. Also my salad had a tomato in it that still had the barcode sticker on it. Certainly not the end of the world but might indicate a general lack of attention to detail. Several of us were missing items and dishes were put in front of the wrong people but I figure we were a pretty confusing group asking a bazillion questions and doing changes to our orders. I'd come back here again - perhaps for iced chai on the patio on a sunny day but I wouldn't make the trip to downtown just to come here again. The atmosphere was pleasant and the place was clean. I did like that they offer my favourite candy coated fennel at the till :-) P.S. Delivery delivery delivery! Thankfully, Nosh is open to have your Indian food needs met in all this craziness. They're currently offering complimentary delivery as well. We got a lot of food. Pakoras, Samosas, Butter Paneer, Butter Chicken, Coconut Rice, Garlic Naan, and Coconut Naan. I realized when I got my food that I forgot to order Aloo Ghobi as well which is my favourite! Alas, I will have to order that next time. I was so happy to get my Indian fix from home. Everything that we ordered tasted amazing. I have had Nosh before and they always seem to do it right. Great Delivery! Noosh is an Indian food inspired restaurant. They have a variety of choices to pick to feed anyone from vegans, Vegetarians or others. I ordered the Chana Masala, Safron rice, Vegan Naan and the Vegan Biryani. All coming to a price of around $40. The portions are great for the price. Taste wise, the food is delicious. Yes, this place offers discounts and BOGO's left right and centre if you know where to look....(and since you are reading this review on Yelp, im guessing you know where to look). Anyway, what about the grub? Located on 124 just down from the galleries, it's a good place to stop in for a quick, slow or take out meal. Offering standard Indian fare and more modern takes on the classics like Indian food "wraps" it is a decent place to pop into if you are in the area. I used a Yelp check in to get 2 channa masala wraps for the price of 1 over lunch, although a bit salty, it met my requirements. Service was friendly and accommodating and food came out fast. Competition? Remedy Cafe is just down the street, if you are looking for a similar meal that is fresher, cheaper, less organic/vegan/free trade and a place that is less filled with 18 - 30 something hipsters pretending to do homework on their laptops while you struggle to find a spot to sit, this is your place. read more

Butter chicken sauce is very mild, added too much cream or nut butter. Some after spice but none of the other savory spice flavors came through. Would not reorder indian food here and its an indian place :( Chicken itself was ok and good taste to very small amount rice. My friend had lamb burger the fries and seasoning were good. The lamb was chopped up on a bun, tasty and the topping complimented the meat. I am not a big meat eater and prefer the lamb we had at Urban Greek at city center mall. But he really enjoyed it. This was my third trip to Nosh and tonight they outdid themselves. I ordered the Butter Shimp Marsala and it was fantastic. The flavor of the sauce was beyond compare. Husband ordered a Dosa dish which he loves and considered perfect. Our daughter was is town and loves Indian food. She ordered Butter Paneer but had them add lamb to it. She said she has never had any that was that good. Naan bread was delish as well. Total bill was around $50 -- good for three people. When we went to the counter to pay my daughter say the Chocolate Cup Cakes and decided we needed a couple to bring home. Well, let's just say she went back the next day just to get more. I was staaaarving at work tonight and decided to treat myself and order in. Nosh had some tasty looking foods, so I decided to go with my fail safe, though beloved, butter chicken. And you don't get butter chicken without coconut rice and garlic naan, so that's what went down. They had my order ready quickly, and the food was just what my starving self needed to overeat. The butter chicken was super tasty, though the serving was a bit on the wee side for the price. Coconut rice was bang on, but the garlic naan was without garlic. Sad face- I love garlic. Incredible experience! We ordered the vegetable samosas, aloo cauliflower, chicken curry, and garlic naan. The food was fresh and delicious, the service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. The price point was also extremely reasonable considering they make everything fresh to order. They also gauge the spices to taste which I to be a very nice touch to the personable environment. At the end of our meal, the gentleman who served us (I believe he was the owner) gave us a complimentary chai latte, which was amazing! Perfect temperature and great flavor! Fantastic experience! The gentleman that served us was kind and helpful, informing us that everything is made in house and to order. And you can taste it! Sat down shortly after 8 pm and the restaurant was clean, the food came quickly and was the best i have had in Edmonton! The samosas were hot and made in house, then we were served the rest of our order. The cauliflower aloo, chicken curry, rice and naan, all made in house were all incredible. We will be back soon! Confession I always like Palak Paneer. So just that it's on the menu has me liking the place. Of course there is not a person who doesn't like butter chicken and fresh naan, so now we are two steps in the right direction and that my seven year old is over the moon about her peanut butter milkshake also helps their score. We love the 124th street location, it tends to be quiet between 5&6:30 when we eat our dinners and if you sit away from the front door and the counter the slow stream of Skip couriers doesn't disturb your meal at all! Food was 8.2 out of ten, service 8, atmosphere 9, location 10 well for us we live 20 blocks away. We will be back! read more

The wraps and the dishes are pretty decent. The flavor profile is very mild, even for a vindaloo, so it's good for taking less adventurous eaters. However, the naan is terrible. For an take out order, it cost me $2.50 for a single piece, and the naan is not fresh made. They serve the thick round circles of "naan" you can buy at the grocery store, but with a 200% price increase. I can't get past how terrible the naan is. read more

Nosh has moved to 124th into the former home of Dahlias!! I was a huge fan of the Nosh menu in the previous location (but not a fan of the location itself) so this is just the best news! Finally, a fabulous location for a fabulous place. The new location is much bigger, while still retaining that quaint, inviting feel, and full of the best spices in life: Indian comfort food! You can go in just for a chai or a coffee, as a cafe, (they make a great espresso!) Or for lunch or dinner. For the food part, it's not exactly cheap, but not expensive either.... It is real, home cooked, quality food. They have a ton of wraps made with traditional Indian dishes (which is unique!) as well as an entree list with all your Indian faves. I've had the butter chicken and chicken pakora. Both were excellent, as was the rice and the naan - oh the naan is good! The chicken tikka is tasty too - but if you like it really spicy, as I do, you need to tell them to bump it up a notch. The only thing I was disappointed in was the fattoush salad - the best part of a fattoush is the crispy pita chips that act as croutons, and there were none! Boo. Oh gosh how I love Nosh!! I've actually loved Nosh since its previous day's on Stony Plain Road however the new location on 124th is just lovely! We went here with friends and the atmosphere was very clean and has a unique, modern artistic feel. The service was extremely attentive and carried passion behind each description of menu items. They were even flexible with their menu and allowed requests for items that were not advertised. We ordered the paneer dosa with chicken and masala dosa, both were delectable and very reasonably priced considering how filling they are! I highly, highly recommend both of these dishes. We finished off with some authentic chai tea and it perfectly book-ended our dining experience. I should also note that they have 1/2 wine most nights! Uhm hello?! Love it! Quick and short review. Do not go here if you are craving for a good or even decent dosa. Many reasons for that: -dosa isn't served with sambhar but with a watery yellow lentil/dal which is overloaded with garlic (I love garlic and I couldn't even eat it) -I don't know if they were trying to be creative but their dosa came with red sweet chutney. This is the weirdest combination ever!!! #fail -coconut chutney was just a coconut paste with no spices and SALT. -dosa was stuffed with North Indian style Aaloo matar. Please note that this isn't modern Indian cooking, it is just lazy cooking that lacks any creativity whatsoever. Any person who has eaten even a decent dosa in life would seriously sit there and laugh at what is being served in the name of dosa. I never checked this place out because whenever I walk by It's dead.. and now I see why. My partner and I had the gluten free butter chicken wrap and a Greek salad. The butter chicken wrap tasted decent however it was 85% rice and 15% chicken. It's great that they have gluten free options but If nosh was the only option.. id rather just make my own food at home. The Greek salad had no dressing on it, was very small considering it was over 8$ and it had barley any feta cheese or olives. I don't expect a Greek salad to be amazing if it isn't from a Greek restaraunt .. BUT HOW DO YOU MESS UP GREEK SALAD? All in all, it wasn't horrible.. dissapointing but not horrible. read more

Nosh has to be my #1 favourite place for a quick, healthy bite. The cafe itself is very relaxed, tasteful, contemporary, and very clean. The servers are always friendly and courteous. I used to sometimes go to the place across the street that's always polluted with hipsters, laptops, and way too busy and noisy... until I discovered NOSH! I love Nosh because the food is always fresh, prepared in-house, and in a real kitchen, so I've learned. I also love Nosh because it suits everyone's dietary needs and tastes. They have a diverse Indian menu plus some Western options. And many delicious choices for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free. I usually opt for gluten free-wraps which are so deliciously wrapped in a dhosa bread (I think), and filled abundantly with whatever you ordered and always perfectly spiced for days when you're not even craving Indian! I've sat in for appys, salads and entrees as well, which were always satisfyingly delicious as well. I have never been disappointed and every time I try something new here it's my new fave. I'm not a tea drinker, coffee goer, or fancy drink drinker but I noticed they do have a pretty extensive drink menu as well. I was daring enough once to try the vegan mango lassi and it satisfied a craving I didn't know I had for sweet drinks! I don't even like milky drinks or mangos but I'm craving one right now! My husband and I ordered takeaway the other night, and were pleased with the food and the service. My husband was given a free mug of Chai while he waited for his order, and the service was pleasant and prompt. We ordered Chana Masala and Dhal Makhani (both came with rice on the side) and had enough food for a light dinner and lunch each--for just over $20. The Dhal Makhani was my preferred dish, creamy with lots of flavour--really delicious. The chickpeas in the Chana Masala were cooked perfectly, though the seasoning of this dish wasn't my favourite. Every restaurant has their own take on Chana Masala, and this one didn't win me over, as it lacked the sour/tangy element from tamarind, I think? All in all, we were happy with Nosh Cafe, and would definitely go back to try other dishes. We thought the prices reasonable, considering the location on 124 street. Stopped by Nosh on a cloudy sunday afternoon, after a River Valley Hike. Our first destination was Remedy Cafe, which was full and standing room only, so we decided to give Nosh a try as it was a mear 1/4 of a block away. The first thing that hits you is a lack of atmosphere. The restaurant is very clean and has nice style, but no music leads to a definate lack of ambience. There was however a TV on the wall, tuned to the shopping channel (which seemed odd). It almost felt like being in a eating library. We ordered 2 drinks ( London Fog and Mocha) as well as the Hummus Tappas. The drinks were served to us in "To-Go" cups ( we had mentioned were staying in). When we finally received our Hummus, we were served a nice big plate of freshly prepared hummus....and then 1 full piece of flat pita bread, cut in half, served in a tin foil wrapped plastic basket. The hummus was delicious, but we had far more hummus than pita bread. I was not above getting what I paid for, so we finished eating the hummus with a spoon. I would not come back any time soon, though there is definitely potential here to be a nice Remedy alternative. Our advice: ditch the tv, turn on some eclectic music, and give enough pita bread to match the delicious hummus. read more

I went by for a lunch meeting not really expecting much (primary focus was the business meeting) . I ordered the lentil soup and chickpea salad to keep things light. I was blown away with the presentation and more importantly the flavour when I took my first few bites. I typically don't write reviews when I order soup and salad but this left an indelible mark on me. I ended up interrupting our meeting just to comment on how tasty my meal was. The only reason I don't give this place the full 5 stars is due to the service. I just found Nosh cafe this week, I stopped by to check it out, without buying anything I left with a free Chai, a gift which I had mere moments before entering Nosh wished for! Two very happy patrons shared their very positive review of the food. When walking towards Nosh this evening, the intoxicating fragrance of the food met us at the curb. What amazing dosas and samosas. We have never been for their buffet, but the food that we have tried has been incredible. The owners are fabulous and treated us to free chai because it was unbelievably cold outside. Inside the restaurant is decorated with beautiful paintings and the friendly staff are absolutely wonderful.
