Been here 10 days and I have eaten there 3 times, always take out. Anyway I can't wait to eat there and get the food fresh, in my mind the food is always better when eaten at the establishment. Important part.. 4.5 stars Above average food with above average service, everyone I have met there have been more than accommodating. Mango chicken, Rogan Josh (lamb), Veggie Samosa, pakora basket, naan, Baingan Bartha and a few others were all excellent dishes. Not sure how the pricing is comparative but honestly these days if the food is above average then the is worth it. Hard to find good food and service anymore. Love this place! No buffet....order a la carte. I was here with a friend and we ordered a number of dishes. The restaurant itself lacks a little with atmosphere. It was clean and presentable, but rather bland in décor. However, the food here will make you not pay attention to your surroundings. We had Naan, Fish Moilee, Kerala Chicken Stew, Lamb Rogan Josh, and lemon rice. All were excellent, but the Fish Moilee and lemon rice were a stand out. We found the Kerala chicken stew to be a little on the bland side after the diversity of flavours in the fish and lamb. However, all dishes were made with fresh ingredients. Coriander is a lovely new addition to McKernan and has a wide variety of fantastic Indian food, ranging from traditional curries and tandoori items to south Indian specials to dosas to chaat and everything in between. Coriander has an extensive menu and is surprisingly large inside so it makes for a roomy and inviting neighbourhood spot. I went in on a chilly day and was thrilled to discover a source for fresh dosa so close to home. These scrumptious curried veggies wrapped in a flavourful and crunchy crepe-esque wrap have come to become one of my favourite foods and Coriander's are exceptional. I can't wait to try a few more of the veggie options as there truly are a plethora. Based on the great flavour of the dosa I had, I'm sure the curry dishes are sublime. The service here was attentive, the food was tasty and authentic, and the inside is roomy and nicely decorated. By the looks of it, there is also a setup for a buffet. This will become a go-to neighbourhood spot for me and I'm glad to have another great Indian establishment to drop into. read more

We've been back numerous times, and have ordered a la carte. We are so happy with how consistently good this restaurant is. The tandoori chicken, butter chicken, dosas, biryanis, chicken korma were all delicious, made with fresh ingredients, and perfectly seasoned. The more we eat here, the more we love it. Great for big groups or just a nice quiet family dinner. Easy parking, bright and clean, and friendly service on top of the delicious food make this one of our favourite neighbourhood spots. read more

A hidden gem. Coriander is not in the most obvious of locations but convenient none the less. Tucked away in McKernan they've transformed two old small spaces into a larger restaurant that is clean and quaint. The owners take pride in their new business and it shows as they remembered our friends who had been once before and expressed their gratitude on bringing us in. The value at Coriander is outstanding and you can taste the freshness of the food. We ordered Chaat Papdi, Paneer Tikka, Chili Cheese Naan, Gobi Manchurian, Veg Korma and Safed Paneer. I would give them all a 5* except the Safed Paneer. We ordered that dish on our friends recommendation and she loved it but was not to my taste - so could be differing preferences. All curries come with rice as well which has become unheard of in Indian dining. You usually have to pay $3-$6 more for a bowl of rice which irks me. Service is a touch slow and the food did not come out in a logical order but I believe in time they can fix this. Also our plates weren't cleared after our meal and we had to call someone over to order dessert and pay at the till. Half our party was Indian and this can be the norm in Indian restaurants so it didn't bother me too much. If they want to excel in a non ethnic dominated neighbourhood, the service needs some improvement. Overall - lovely staff/owners and delicious food. Coriander is a centrally located Indian restaurant. They offer a number of Southern Indian regional dishes, pooris, as well as more common favourites. I have tried many different things here and found all of them to be very good. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food and its quality. The waitstaff are efficient and professional. Since COVID, they are now takeout only. But I have found the process of picking up food to be safe and effective. They have a parking lot to the left of the restaurant, complementary masks, and a lot of hand sanitizer when you walk in. It's probably the best South Asian food I have found north of 34 Ave, and while some of the places in the south are just as good, Coriander has a lot of specialties that set it apart. read more

Disappointed doesn't even do justice to the experience I had today july 24 at this place. I ordered chicken briyani and paneer masala dosa. The chicken briyani had hard pieces of either the chicken bone or of some very wrongly used spice. When asked to replace it, the chef became very confrontational. I decided to send the biryani back and order malai kofta. And oh my goodness the butter naan had more flavour than the gravy. It didn't even have salt in it. I asked them to bring me salt and green chillies. The green chillies I got were probably purchased 3 months ago. I asked for the check and was shocked to see the biryani on it. I asked them to take that off coz I only had 2 bites of the uneatable dish. They did take off that. I will never ever go back to this place. Very disappointed. read more

Coriander changed my perception on indian food! Previous indian food experiences have usually been very salty and desserts super sweet. I will now be coming to Coriander! Food was well seasoned, not salty and not spicy. We had a taste of the sweet yogurt dessert and it was perfect! Got to meet the chef, really nice that he came out to talk to the customers. My son said it best; after eating here he can't eat home cooked food anymore because this was so good that he wants to come here everyday! Tandoori chicken arrived on a hot grill and the shrimp curry and goat biriyani and were excellent. They were able to make certain dishes not spicy for kids and all dishes were obviously made fresh as everything tasted like it was just prepared. The ambiance is also really nice with lots of space for seating for both big and small groups. It had an excellent blend of Indian decor with modern touches. I just love this place and am super excited to have a neighbourhood restaurant like this. Try it and guaranteed you will like this place. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite in the neighbourhood with our 8 year old. Tried (way too) many dishes, and all of them were excellent. Service was friendly and timely, and the price was extremely reasonable. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Was excellent when it started up -- possibly the best East Indian restaurant in Edmonton. Very average now, after the original chef quit at the start of 2020. Almost indistinguishable today from the other Indian restaurants, which is a real pity. I cannot recommend it any more. Kanga A. read more

This is a gift to Indian food lovers like no other in Edmonton. Off the beaten path in McKernan, it's a warm, relaxed, well-appointed space that's bigger than it looks from the outside . Friendly staff. Amazing menu selection. And the best Indian food I've ever had in this city. Two delicious appetizers (mulagatawny vegetable soup and crispy, wonderfully spiced crunch-coated Chicken 65) and two also-delicious main dishes (Chicken Tikka Masala and creamy Kerala vegetable stew) cost just $40!! I'll be back frequently. Go there just once, and I guarantee you'll be back, too! read more

This is a unique Indian restaurant in Edmonton. It has some of the typical North West Indian fare, but it also has several dishes from other regions. My favourites are the Railway Chicken (chicken and a hard boiled egg in a spicy sauce) and snacks like Idli (a small savoury rice cake). The service is prompt and polite, the menu options thorough without being overwhelming and the restaurant's atmosphere is bright, open, and welcoming. read more
