I stop by Curry Corner in Riverbend every couple of years. Personal favourite has been their lamb, including their Chef's Special Lamb (Korma) and Lamb/Goat Curry. The overall quality and portion is decent at the prices they have, especially considering the location, so I'd give them 8/10 read more

Service was great, very friendly and fast. The food however was not good. Butter chicken was too "tomato soupy" with no flavor, the veggie korma was also flavorless and the veggies were overcooked. The naan was not very good either. Would not go back. read more

I haven't been eating much Indian lately but a buddy of mine, who I haven't seen in ages, wanted to go for a late lunch. Where to go? Well, I've known about Curry Corner for awhile but after being reminded about their cheap lunch special, we decided to check it out. Located in Riverbend Square, it's by Safeway and nearby to Oliveto Trattoria. You guessed it, this one is hidden in the corner. The daily lunch special (only one option) runs from 11am to 3pm for $10.99! Hello sweet deal. We came at 2pm on a holiday Monday and it was pretty empty. Only one waiter was running the show - service is decent but he didn't come back often to refill our waters. The inside is much more roomy than I anticipated. They even have a cozy little two spot by the front entrance if people watching all the Riverbendites grocery shopping tickles your fancy ;) While I was waiting for my buddy to join, I perused the regular menu. Interesting that they have hakka noodles here. You don't see that very often. - Papadum - we were given two papadum's as an appetizer. Nothing really to write home about but it was a nice touch as we weren't expecting any extras to go with the lunch special. - Lunch special ($10.99) - you get a lot of food so come hungry. Luckily, I follow my own advice and only ate a small breakfast so I was able to power through everything. N couldn't finish his portion. Butter chicken, rice, yellow lentils, peas and a bare sort of salad makes up the main platter. You also get a basket of naan. The butter chicken was good, not overly rich or creamy. The yellow lentils were tasty but they were lukewarm. The naan was fresh and went perfectly with the butter chicken sauce. Like always. - Rice pudding - we ended things off with a rice pudding which was light and creamy. I'd eat it again. It's hard to find a cheap spot like this in town so if you're looking for a tasty west end lunch, give Curry Corner a go. read more

We ordered pickup through Skip the Dishes, it was quick and painless. Our food was ready in 35 minutes on a busy Friday evening, not bad at all. We decided to play it safe and got two orders of Butter Chicken, a rice, garlic naan, and roti. I found the prices reasonable, but wouldn't say they were cheap. The rice was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The garlic naan and roti were both good, we should have ordered more. The butter chicken sauce was fantastic, full of flavor with just enough spice and I had enough for two meals. Unfortunately, I found the chicken pieces themselves not very good. They were quite dry and mealy and had a very strange flavor, like they had been marinated in something a day past its best before date? Sorta ruined the experience for me but seeing all the positive reviews we may have to try again. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. I went on a Thursday afternoon with two friends, and everything we ordered arrived quickly and tasted delicious! We started with Vegetable Pakora, which was crispy and well seasoned, and my two meat-eating friends each had a huge Beef Samosa which they enjoyed. We shared the most amazing naan bread and coconut rice with our main dishes. I had the Palak Paneer, which despite looking completely unappetizing turned out to be amazing! Great flavor and plenty of cheese. My friend ordered the Butter Chicken which had a lovely color and enticing smell. Both portion sizes were enormous and half of each had to be packed up! My other friend ordered the lunch special, which at $10.99 was an amazing value and just the right size. I finally got to try Gulab Jamun for dessert, something I have been wanting to try forever, and it did not disappoint! Hot dough balls soaked in syrup... yum! This place was great. Today I decided to try this place for the first time. The service was great. We got sat right away. The menu had a lot of options. Great for vegetarians. For drinks we got some chai then we ordered samosas for appetizers, then bhindi masala, coconut rice, chicken bhuna and Naan for dinner. Lastly, we ordered gulab jamun for dessert. It was all soo good. The pricing was fair as we paid under 50 bucks for 2 people. I enjoyed everything I ordered. I will be back. The place was clean, the service was on point and the food was great! We will be back. Update: I had to edit my review because I had their lunch special and it was amazing! They serve butter chicken, rice, fresh Naan, salad and a lentil dish. So here I am. Not really liking "North American Indian food" because I've had the privilege of having worked in central India several years ago, more than once. Was almost a month of some of the most incredible food I've ever had. From eating off a banana leaf (with only your hands), to tandoori prawns to sweet tea. Even "Pizza Hut" had a tandoori chicken option (no pepperoni ). This is the first time I can say I was impressed with my meal. I had the Vandaloo chicken with coconut rice and naan garlic bread. All I can say is "WoW!" that was friken awesome . Well done Curry Corner. I look forward to our next rendezvous. read more

Decided to do take out from this quaint place in Riverbend. Ordering up was simple enough. The menu online has the prices. Which is a gripe I have of a number of places that put menus online but then drop the prices. Called up was told that the order would take 20-25 mins. Arrived (more or less on time) and had to wait less than 2 mins. Got home and even though it was a 15 min drive home, all the food was still very hot ! Ordered the Shrimp Butter Masala, Chicken Curry, Garlic Naan, Daal Tadka, and some Saffron Rice. All of it was delish ! Although there was a mix up with our order, and we didn't get the shrimp, and instead I think we got Butter Chicken. I really loved the flavour of the Daal Tadka, but it was much more mushy than what I expected. All of the dishes we ordered (or got) were very flavourful and all hot ! Even the Naan. Which I had kind of expected would be a little cold by the time I got it home. Overall, the food was fantastic, and the staff there were very friendly (for takeout). I'm not overly upset about the mix up in the order. As it was all very good ! Value for Money could be a bit better, but I still think the food was excellent quality. read more

The staff seemed friendly and remembered to refill drinks. They have a substantial number of menu items for reasonable prices, especially for Indian food. We ordered tandoori roti, lamb curry, chai tea and a lunch combo. The lamb was tender, flavourful and mildly spicy. I recommend the lunch combo for a quick fix. Comes with lentils, butter chicken, rice, salad, naan bread and dessert all for $10.99! The meal was faster and cheaper than a big buffet restaurant, with the same quality of food. I can see why they have such a great urban spoon rating. I was blown away with the explosion of flavours they hit me with. Friendly service and an unpretentious simple and small dining room. The real star here is the incredible food! It's been a while where I have craved the need to go back the next day because there weren't any leftovers ;) Please try it and enjoy the colourful teasing that your taste buds shall receive. A couple of friends I returned to Curry Corner for lunch just over a week ago. Once again, on one of the coldest days this year! At least this type of cuisine will warm you up! The server remembered us and that one of my friends drank hot water with lemon. Given that we had only been there once before, a few weeks prior, it was incredible that he remembered. The quanitity of the meat in the Butter Chicken was much better this time around and the Veggie Pakora and Beef Samosas are heavenly! They are obviously made in house, as it would be impossible to buy anything like that from a store. My complaint about the cost and lack of side dishes was rectified in the 10.00 lunch special which as butter chicken, three sides, and rice pudding for dessert! God for lunch to save some cash! This is my new favourite place for Curry and I can't wait to go back! read more

I have gone here a variety of times to eat in and to take out. I have never gotten the lunch specials which they are known for. I have always ordered a variety of dishes and in most cases will try one new dish to see what it's like. I have enjoyed all the dishes I have tried thus far and it's nice to go to an Indian restaurant where all the sauces don't taste the same as you get with New Asian Village for example. My favorite dishes Tikka Masala Paneer Samosa Chefs Special are just to name a few I need their menu to say all the ones I love. As for their Nan, its lovely and fresh. Beautiful flavor and a must to get an extra order to take home with your left overs. Service is slow and if you want refills of drinks etc than you need to wave him down. It's not a busy place I just think the while atmosphere is slow and relaxed. read more

Being of East Indian origin, my experiences with Indian food in the city has been either hit or miss (largely miss). I notice when chains start to expand (ex New Asian Village), the quality starts to go down. My parents took my wife and I to Curry Corner in Riverbend Square. The former management of 'Curry Fix' vacated and Curry Corner took over under new management. The first thing I noticed that the ambiance of this place had a feel of a quaint and cozy charm of a home cooked Indian family dinner. This restaurant embodies the idea that appreciating the small (often overlooked) things goes a long way. To illustrate, The Naan Bread was fresh, buttery, was slightly crusty on the outside, and chewy in the inside-like it just came out of the tandoor oven. Every grain of the basmati rice was cooked el dente and glistened in buttery highlights of peas and cumin. Now the main event: the myriad of curries of beef, paneer, butter chicken, goat biryani, vegetable korma indulged my palate to which my enjoyment of the meal superseded my spice tolerance(although my mom and wife thought it was a tad on the salty side). However, not all was perfect. the appetizers of lamb kabob was unappealing in presentation, lacked savouriness and it had a ground paste like texture which was molded into narrow tubes and doused with cumin and coriander. Service was decent; not outstanding. All that being said, this is one of my favourite Indian restaurant for now. I hope the quality of food stays the same. read more

This is my third time coming to curry corner. Being close to the house, we happened to find it going to the registry nearby. I must say their garlic Naan is so delicious and fresh. The butter chicken make my boyfriend's mouth water. And he's Indian. I'd say the butter chicken and bhindi Masala (okra) are the best we've ever had. Cannot wait to return here time and again to try everything on the menu. Service was prompt on an early Saturday afternoon when we went in for a light snack while in the neighbourhood after a massage. It was hard deciding what to order from the varied choices. A complimentary Papadum with a yummy tamarind sauce was served. We started with the Garlic Naan and Roti breads plus the Lentil soup. The Chicken Bhuna (which we shared) was spectacular. So happy I tried this place. Unfortunately, they do not deliver but it was worth the pick up. First off, the decor was unexpectedly pleasant, clean and modern. Service was 20mins for pick up and upon arrival, the waiter was pleasant. I ordered: garlic naan, veg. samosa, saffron rice, butter chicken and rice pudding. I'm so glad that I found this hole in the wall restaurant as there curries are definitely some of the best I've had in Edmonton! I've only ever had take out here and every time I have to order the beef Bhuna as it's divine! I've also tried the chicken curry, the chilli chicken and the chicken Kadia all of which were very tasty and full of flavour. We have eaten a lot of Indian food all over the United States. It's the first trip to Canada with the family and we all thoroughly enjoyed Curry Corner.
