This is authentic Puerto Rican food!!! Growing up in a Puerto Rican home I was always really picky about the Spanish food I ate. I was blessed to have really good cooks in my grandmother and aunt. They made incredible monfongos, alcapurrias, and bacalaitos(forgive the spelling:( ). It was hard to find a substitute locally. Norwind's took me back to my childhood and that good food. Everything was good and drinks strong. The place has a hard feel to it but that's authentic Bushwick, it was a hood for along time before becoming tame and hip. But the place is top notch, the inside decor is refined industrial and rustic and was pulled off well and genuine. Look. If you want to bring a romantic date somewhere nice to eat, this is not the place. However, if you don't mind loud music while you eat and have some beers/dranks and enjoy the quality food then here be the place for you! The dishes packed some real good flavor. She wasn't that impressed as she compared it to one we had on the side of the road in PR (which really is the real deal!) but I thought it was good. I heard good reviews about the food, however I found it underwhelming. We wanted to order more food, but the server said we would be full from what we ordered but in reality, they were under staffed and not equipped to handle all of the orders. We waited a long time for the beers, and food. We wound up ordering our own drinks at the bar, which came faster than the ones we ordered. Also, I made a comment to my family about the poor service, and the server overheard. Instead of leaving it as is, she confronted me and made me feel uncomfortable and said, "I heard what you said, I told you were understaffed!" I will definitely not be returning to this establishment based on the service alone. The food wasn't anything to brag about either. My husband and I have been craving a Puerto Rican spot that serves delicious well cooked food and we got so lucky when we checked out Norwind's..Everything we ate was so yummy, the right Rican flavors, food was served hot and so pretty everything was perfect portions. Came in for lunch on a Wednesday with my boyfriend for lunch and the food was amazing ! Garlic Parmesan wings are to die for the sauce is what makes them so juicy and flavorful. My boyfriend ordered tostones and fried steak, he sure did have the itis before work lol. I had the pork mofongo and omg. Some reviews said it was salty but for me it waS jus right. Just waited over 30 minutes for two appetizers and got some serious attitude from the waitress. After about 20 minutes of waiting, i asked her to check on the order and she said, "i know, it'll be ready when it's ready" rolled her eyes and walked away. When the food finally came there was no silverware, no napkins, and no condiments. The food is mediocre at best, the service is atrocious, and the music was too loud. I tried going to Norwind's on two previous occasions and it was extremely crowded, no one else fit inside the establishment but this was during the winter months. I was finally able to go two weeks ago and it was delicious. The backyard was opened which was great. I give the food 5 stars! The music was also great. The only reason I rate my overall experience 4 stars is because they seem understaffed. Service was a bit slow although they were attentive. They only have one bathroom inside which equals to long lines unless you want to use the porta potties outside. I highly recommend if your in the neighborhood. Authentic Puertorican Food! I was visiting brooklyn, NY. from Chicago this weekend and someone recommended this restaurant for frituras. I have to be 100% honest here. It was over priced. For 2 alcapurrias, 4 bacalaitos, and an order of chicken fingers with fries was over $30 and that did not include drinks. The alcapurrias were ok, the bacalaitos were salty because they had extra table salt on top. The kids like the chicken finger and fries. Win, for the kids but I do not recommend this restaurant to any frituras. Highly disappointed. read more

I didn't get to try to food here, unfortunately I was at hopping and came a little late. But I have heard some good things about it. I did however did get to drink. Honestly I could do without the shots, very small plastic shot cups. Typically, other bars would give you a shot glass. Which is my kind of bar honestly, but the bartenders were kool. My friends knew the some of the bartenders and we all had a great chat. Not a large placer but I heard there is a back yard that they have decked out, might come back during the summer to check it out.
