I stop being concerned about the furniture stuck in the elevator. Now I am thinking of all the people that will be stuck in the 6 story building until next week! Hey the elevator is stuck with furniture inside. The moving company is leaving can you let them know when the elevator gets opened, they will come back for their furniture. Ok HOA president calls from the Airport says "Angela called and complained that you are rude to her please stop calling. Rude? Stop calling? As an owner and manager of several properties I have used Northern Elevator to service elevators for many years and do major renovations in two important buildings. I cannot rave enough about the quality of their service and work. This was ever more so for their just completed major job of total renewal and modernization of a 96 year old 5 stop elevator in a one elevator luxury apartment building in Pacific Heights in San Francisco. Working with Robert French was an extraordinarily helpful and cooperative experience. We started planning 15 months or more in advance and he worked with me in designing a new cab and new floor installations. He also guided us in having required electrical service upgrades installed well in advance. The very attentive and highly skilled crew of Robert and his two sons gave complete attention to the planning and execution of dozens of major and minor details of their removal and replacement of the original DC motor, all mechanicals, electronics, cab, troublesome gate --for a silent door, cables and all the floor call button panels. Everything but the elevator shaft and steel tracks is new. As this job was done during Covid caused delays-- in spite of their pre-ordering many of the difficult parts, the job took unavoidably longer than expected with back orders for some parts and supplies. When one major part became unavailable, they had it specially custom fabricated. Nearing the end of the job when the required State Safety inspection had been scheduled, the crew of three worked on several occasions until 7:30PM to get certain final installations done in time. Robert was always available to bring me up to date or discuss any aspect of the job. All of this was done while maintaining the services for their customers' other elevators --including my second building's elevators. This was a difficult time for tenants on the upper floors and the crew were extremely courteous to the tenants and cleaned up every day after working and were careful to protect the carpets and surrounding areas of work. We now have a very fine custom made modern elevator and control system that our tenants love and meets extensive new code requirements --mostly invisible-- . As I said, I cannot give a high enough compliment to Northern Elevator Company and its crew. read more
