Excellent service! Thanks for Joe and Luis fixed the elevator problems. I highly recommend them.

Great service and very responsive. We use them whenever we have an issue and fortunately that is not common

Knowledgeable, quick, clean, let me know about the safety features and maintenance- all good

I have a small home elevator I put in for aging parents on the bottom floor of my hillside house. I knew nothing about service needed. There aren't alot of companies that do home units. The first one I used stopped doing homes after a few years much to my dismay. Dwan had sold the elevator when my house was being built so I turned to them. I think initially they wanted to charge for coming across the Bridge from SF. But that changed with ownership change. What a great group they turned out to be. From the receptionists to the service crew, no deadbeats, always on time if not a little early. They have moved from SF to Oakland and now back to SF. My elevator is now over 25 years old. It only stopped once when I had a party and too many people jammed inside, some variation on how many drunks can you get in a phone booth. Despite learning the hard way of how much emergency service can cost, I can highly recommend Dwan Elevators for indoor home elevators. read more

We have an annual contract with Dwan Elevator where they will inspect and service my home elevator to make sure it is running well and safe. They have, by far, the most experienced technicians you can find. I tried another company to save a bit and deeply regretted doing that. In the end, you get what you pay for and Dwan is worth it. read more

From the beginning of our elevator service by Dwan Elevator, we have received very efficient and caring maintenance of our chair lift elevator. The attention to detail and service is, I am sure, as it would be for the very best style and size of elevator possible. I had a great experience with DWAN. The technician was professional, clean, and fully prepared to perform the work. My honest opinion is I have been very pleased with service over the past 2-3 years. The technicians explain what's needed. Where I thought we would be experiencing an expensive repair on our older elevator, they found a way to make an adjustment or two at a reasonable cost to keep the lift in fine condition. The other thing I like is the tech is our regular! So nice to see a usual tech who knows our building operation. The requested service was done to complete satisfaction once again. As a property manager and broker, I recommend Dwan Elevator. read more

ANOTHER 5 STAR VISIT. Every service call I've had from this company since starting with them three years ago has been 5 stars. Each of the various techs has been polite, professional, and HIGHLY knowledgeable. The company keeps my elevator in shape, and fixes it right the first time when it gets hit from the outside (like a power surge). They're a bit pricey, but not too much, and anyway when I'm riding in a tiny box between floors with no clear way out, I want to know it's been maintained at the level of Air Force One. Duan has always done that for me. read more

I rarely give reviews, but as a manager of a commercial building, I deal with a lot of trades and unprofessionalism. Over the years, I've had SO many issues with companies being unresponsive, not showing up when promised, or being less than honest when assessing problems on the property. We called this company in the morning because our fire alarm was causing the elevators to override and remain open. The fire department came out but could not resolve the issue. When we called Dawn Elevator, they showed up within the 4 hour window they promised. Dispatch kept us updated by text--when the tech was en route, when he arrived, and when the job was complete. I've had companies before say they did maintenance on our elevator and have no knowledge of them showing up ever. So this was great! Nick was the technician who came out, and he was excellent. He was professional, well-spoken, cleanly presented, and clearly knowledgeable. Most importantly, he came across as very honest and trustworthy. We truly appreciated their responsiveness and professionalism today and will absolutely call on them again in the future....which is why this review is needed. THANK YOU SO MUCH! read more

Follow up service was great, repaired and serviced all the issues, elevator works great. I was premature in my previous review. The problem was the communication. Had they told me that they didn't have the parts and time and had to return in a couple of days, all would be fine. The info I received indicated a much longer lapse in fixing the problem, hence the initial dissatisfaction. All is great and I commend Luis for his prompt and expert service read more

Flavio was Friendly, efficient, explained everything to me. I would definitely use him again if needed.

I just wanted to purchase a couple of wheels so that my elevator maintenance tech could replace the old ones. He would have done the install for free. Dwan Elevator would not sell me the parts and told me to have the tech order it for me. Its apparent that they do not want to deal with small orders or individuals. Hope that your business is doing well. read more

Slow. Over charge. Unresponsive. Long delays in securing parts. Inconsistent answers from different technicians. read more

Very overpriced. Pretty rude to us and will be switching our elevator service provider. Be sure you double check the prices before you sign up or you'll regret it later. Youve been warned! read more

I have a small elevator (they call a lift I guess) and it wouldn't work so called Dwan Elevator to see what the problem was. First off I had to sign that I would pay $370 per hour and was very specific that it started from when he was on his way. He got to my home in 1/2 hour and spent 2 hours trying to find the problem. He found the switch did not work, and after that said he couldn't fix it and left it 1 foot from the floor, so I couldn't even open the door in case I could find someone else to fix the switch. You have to get on a ladder to operate it from the box on top I guess. Still trying to figure that out. I thought it was a very poor wat to do business since they didn't even give me a written report of what they did, what was wrong, and what had to be done? All I got was a bill for $925.00. I wrote a letter since I was so upset and they did respond with issues they said needed to be done but after the way they handled the first visit, I didn't want them coming back. I should have read the Yelp reviews before I had them come out. They said they are old reviews, but they still apply to the way they do business. read more

BEWARE ~! BUSINESS ETHICS ARE SPECIOUS.I scratched their utility truck on the fender when my car turned into their truck. They claimed $4000 work of damage including a rental from Enterprise. My car had NO damage and I made no claim. Liberty Mutual Insurance claims adjuster allowed the entire amount. I made no claim. read more

We've used Dwan a few times for service on our home's small elevator. This last time they came out for routine maintenance, and then spent an extra half hour working on an elevator door. We got a bill for over $600, including .75 hours for travel. When we deducted the travel time from our bill and paid, the company said we should pay the rest because in the past they had snuck in larger travel charges and even a bridge toll fee. Obviously we would not have paid a bridge toll (for an Oakland-based company!) or travel or mileage if we had noticed those on our past bills. The idea that Dwan thought this was a compelling argument illustrates quite a bit about how the company does business. If you have no alternative, make sure you get a firm quote and a commitment about whether they're going to charge for travel time, mileage, and bridge tolls. read more

Just to be clear on Dwan elevators responseWe never solicited any other bids or anyone else to work on the dumbwaiter and I did not refuse to have any switches replaced I refused to be charged again for someone to come out and diagnose the real problem that still exists read more

This is the worst company and worst follow up I have ever dealt with. They will show up on your job site. TALK about how they can help you. They can install this and do that. They give you the big horse and pony show, but then IF your job is too small; forget it!! They do not want to deal with smaller jobs.Meaning if you only have ONE lift to install. I wanted two lifts installed on two different properties. After SEVERAL calls over 3 weeks,, Still nothing... I have left messages and spoke with the installers, estimators. Still I get the run-around. Then finally the excused come floating in. 1) I cant find a contractor to install it.. DUH.. i thought you were the one installing it. 2) The boss went on Vacation. 3) He is back from vacation let me see what I can do. 4) STILL NOTHING..They just sit back and wait for you to go away. I know what they are doing. Keeping busy on "the big job" They are just too busy to help. When the "the big job" is finished and your looking to just stay a float. That is when you will see the professional contractors shine. Personally I don't think this is one of them. Well... GOODLUCK Dwan Elevator. When the money stops and your looking for work I hope your company makes it. read more
