I ordered for lunch a steak and onion quesadilla. It came with guacamole, salsa and sour cream. My friend usually orders the grilled cheese and said it was good so i decided to give them a chance. The food arrived warm and well packaged. The quesadilla was good. I would probably order again. The prices are under $8 with NO sides fries or nachos so it was a good price and it brought four pieces so it was very filling. My friend also had tried the spinach chicken quesadilla and she said it was good as well. We usually order Sunday breakfast here and we pick it up, however today we stopped in for lunch and this place was packed. When we first arrived there were no tables available so we sat at the very busy counter which would have been cool, but you can't eat at the counter in peace. The line cooks and waitresses have several phone orders and deliveries lined up on the counter for the delivery man to pick up. The counter was crowded and bags moved by us furiously. When we sat at the counter we had to almost yell to one another over the cooks and waitresses yelling phone orders back and forth to one another and pushing bags by us like some sort of assembly line. As soon as a table was available at the chance to get away from the bustle and bustle of delivery order, I ordered a tuna wrap, avocado salad, and fries. We also had a beet juice freshly made from the juice bar. There is a wide variety of freshly made juices available, carrot, beets, ginger.....The waitress was kind, but extremely busy. She took our order, bought us our food, then dropped off the check. She was nice but never stopped to say "do you need anything else. " I enjoyed my food, the tuna was thick with fresh crunchy red peppers and celery, however I will never visit again during lunch hour it was just too much going on. So check it...just because a place is in the hood, doesn't mean it's bad. It can actually be pretty damned good....case in point, North Star Cafe. First off, the place is suuuuuper busy. That, is OBVIOUSLY a good thing. I sat at the counter and ordered up a chicken/ broccoli quesadilla. 5 minutes later, it arrived and another 5 minutes later, it was in my stomach. Slammmin'! They also have a salad bar (you know, like delis in the City?) and smoothie station, which everyone seemed to be crowded around ordering up. Like I said, don't judge a book by it's cover. Quality has gone downhill the last couple of months. Myself and many of my coworkers used to order the food religiously as we work nearby. Ordered the same salad with crispy chicken and until recently, the chicken was great. Not sure what happened but it's inedible now. Forget about customer service, they have none. Ordered my usual to be delivered at a certain time during my lunch break and no one showed. Mind you I always order hours prior and schedule the delivery at a set time. Upon calling the restaurant, I got hung up the first couple of times and when I finally got in contact with someone they proceeded to tell me that it was on its way. Once again never showed. Called again and then they tell me they never received my order. Bottom line is that I was left without lunch. Horrible! read more

The food is good, but if you don't speak Spanish then the service sucks. I came in today to order a cheeseburger deluxe. I waited patiently for the cashier or the person behind the counter to ask me for my order. Two ladies come in the place a few minutes behind me speaking Spanish and both are greeted by the cashier and host. Now when I inform them I been waiting to place an order, they look at me like I'm crazy. If I wasn't so hungry and lazy to cook, I would of left. Darn good. They deliver, which always helps and usually your order will arrive within 20 minutes of placing it over the phone--at least in my case. I love their quesadillas, pretty much anything from the breakfast menu and the fruit smoothies are consistently great. They also customize to pretty much any whim you may have. Seems like all the negative reviews are mostly regarding delivery screw-ups. I can't speak on delivery, but I can comment on eating in. A friend recommended this spot, and she did not steer me wrong. The service was great. The staff is super attentive and friendly. And the food was GOOD! Everything was fresh. Although all I had was the Chicken Ceasar Salad, the chicken was delish. Well, I guess I spoke too soon. I don't know who they put in the kitchen today, but he or she should not be cooking. I ordered scrambled eggs with bacon, homefries, and toast. My order came almost an hour later, minus the toast. When I called them to tell them my toast was missing, they said they woud send it right away. My "toast" arrived 20 minutes later. My toast consisted of cold bread with half melted margarine. The rest of the meal was no better than the "toast". The eggs were overcooked and brown on one side. The homefries were unseasoned, with huge chunks of nearly raw peppers and onions. The pototoes themselves were barely cooked. The bacon cooked fine, but on the cold side. This meal was $7 by the way. I really should have just cooked something in my home. North Star just lost a customer. read more

Customer service sucks. I called to place an order for delivery, when I asked the guy on the phone for the price he told me to hang on and hung up on me. When the food arrived, delivery person called me to say he was downstairs instead of coming up. When I got my order I was missing two items, so I called back and told the same person who I originally spoke to I'm missing somethings, he tells me again to hold on, and hangs up on me. It seems like your average typical wanna be cafe, the food doesn't seem like it's fresh or great I have been here multiple times and have stopped going because the food is so bland. When I order home fries and bacon....the bacon is so hard it just crumbles on my plate, the potatoes are very dry, the eggs were fine but you can't mess up eggs. I've had the chicken cutlet 4 piece sandwich and I ran into the same problems with hard bacon and dryness. Their fries and onion rings are pretty dry as well or soggy, it's never a good combination. They have great strawberry lemonade, and their chicken burger isn't so bad as long as you put a condiment in it. The place is clean. I wouldn't recommend you order delivery from here, the food gets to you soggy because of how they package it. read more

The female waitress / cashier STEALS TIPS for pick up orders . Gives you the receipt with the correct amount but over charges your account . My debt card is set up w. Automatic text alerts so I caught it immediately and when I asked for the owner she lied and said it was two different employees.. and laughed in my face . I love this diner on Tremont. The food is fresh and healthier fare than is usually available in this neighborhood. So far I've had their chicken and broccoli omelet with fries and their chicken gyro with fries. Both were well-seasoned and tasty. Their fries are good but soggy. Prices are a little high for the area their operating in the ghetto's of the south Bronx, people on welfare can't always afford $8 dollars for a hero sandwich and $7 dollars for a quesadillas, however the food it extremely delicious, they tend to get my order wrong when I tell them no onions they put onions anyway like they don't care just give me your money type shit pisses me off, I call and sent back food already 5 times they have gotten my orders wrong.
