Excellent Service, Great Pizza. This is my kind of pizza place. You know it's going to be quality when each table has those elevated pizza serving platters. The crust was excellent! I cannot tell you how many times we have drove past this place and never really noticed it. On a suggestion from my daughters friend, we decided to stop there for lunch. We were there just last Friday (4/3) and there were only a couple people enjoying lunch. The atmosphere has that look of being around a while. We ordered a pizza to share and it was fabulous. This is the best pizza in the county by far. The outside is bubbly and the middle is thin, the slices are big and they are tasty. My favorite place to go after a long hike in the Mt Baker National Forest. Get a pie, a hefeweizen and you are one happy hiker. I drive out for this pizza during the winter, and you can get refills on your jug of beer to take home for $8. The price is a little bit high for pizza but SOOOOooo worth it. i absolutely adore this place. and it has nothing to do with the fact that the owners -- vicki and sandy savage -- have been friends of mine since 1980, when we all still lived in ca. sandy was raised here in wa, and in 1995 he had an opportunity to move back here and open a restaurant/wedding chapel/beer shrine. he is a master brewer, and trained in several locations. vicki is not only a caterer, but is also a minister. in fact, she married my husband and i almost 8 years ago. we got married in the smaller room in the restaurant. next door to us were the brewing tanks. there is a wide variety of beers to choose from -- all hand brewed. the menu is quite eclectic and changes frequently. while their specialty is pizza, there are also many wonderful other dishes that they prepare. if you are a skier -- this is an excellent place to stop at after a day of sking on mt. baker. read more

The pizza is edible and pretty good for a place in a rural location like this, but compared to the quality of New York-style pizza I'm accustomed to eating back home in San Diego it was subpar. We stopped in after snowshoeing on a Saturday. They were busy but the table rotations are pretty quick so we were seated after maybe 10 minutes. The pizza was fantastic, the caesar salad was tasty and the strong scotch ale is great. We sampled a few other beers and certainly preferred the scotch ale. Good service. Enjoy!!! read more

My parents, sister and I always go here whenever we are down south. The food is always amazing, and the staff is always working so hard but also makes the time to socialize with the customers. Tonight, even with the high temperature, we could see every staff member working their tail off with a smile on their face! Angie and Melissa talked with us lots and it was great to see Melissa filling in this weekend.. And always a pleasure to see our good friend Angie! We went here having heard great things about the food. We ordered the cheesy bread sticks, large pepperoni pizza, a platter of Caesar salad, 2 calzones (1 meat style and 1 chicken), and a meat grinder. The calzones are predetermined on food items. Not sure why this is. What's the big deal about letting someone choose their preferred 4 items? Cheesy bread sticks were really good! Next came the salad. Unimpressive at best. Very little parm and hardly any dressing. It was very dry. Pizza was very good! The crust is hand tossed, (we watched and they were great pizza tossers)! As for the meat grinder and meat calzone, there was an unpleasant taste from one of the meats in both. I think it was the dry salami but not sure. Would not get them again. Not sure how the chicken calzone tasted as it belonged to someone else in the group. A calzone is big enough for 4 people to share. I'd stick with pizza if I were to go again. Cute, quaint and rustic place. I hear the beers are great. So is the root beer! Not sure I'd drive 30 min to come here again. read more

Best microbrewery I know of that's also a wedding chapel! The North Fork is known for their pizza and calzones, and that's what you should get here. Growing up here, I thoroughly enjoyed a microbrewery that didn't ignore root beer, and now their homemade rootbeer is still my favorite. read more

Was looking forward to a beer and pizza. Since two out of four people in my group carry guns, we made sure the establishment was NOT just a bar, but allowed minors to enter and eat. An unpleasant waiter yelled over that we were breaking the law and would have to leave. We attempted to educate him and make him feel at ease but decided to just move on. In Washington State, anywhere that allows under 21 year olds, allows guns. You could not, however, sit at the bar with a gun if minors were not allowed. read more

Do yourself a favor and eat here sometime. I don't care if you aren't a skier/snowboarder/hiker. You don't need another reason to be this far out on Mt.Baker highway. I myself am a lazy ass, and I've been here many times. The pizza is glorious. The beer is glorious-er. I'm almost certain the brewery still doesn't bottle, and doesn't produce enough for much distribution, so you kind of have to come here to try it. Great pizza : wonderful crust, excellent blending of flavors. The best beer this side of the U.K. (and it beats many of the beers there). We're IPA people, but all North Fork beers are fabulous. Wonderful music choices. Best of all are the people: the customers, the staff, the owners. There is a relaxed camaraderie at the North Fork that I've not found anywhere else. North Fork Bewery is the perfect stop on the way back from Mt. Baker after a long day of riding. Great pizza, great beer, great service, great people! They even have a wedding chapel so you can finally put that ring on your sweetheart. They have one of the best Hefeweizen beers that I've ever tried. In fact all of their beer is fantastic. The only reason that I can't give them 5 stars is because often they are crowded and you might have to wait awhile for a seat. It's definitely worth the wait. read more

This place is amazing! Their pizza is the best I've had on the west coast. Expect large crowds and long waits later in the afternoon from all of the skiers returning from Mt Baker. Normally I don't like waiting for 30 minutes, but the pizza more than makes up for it. Walk in, sign up (no greeter) and grab a wonderful beer. We ran across this place (with the help of Yelp) on our way to Vancouver taking the scenic route from Seattle. Not only was the pizza fantastic, but the atmosphere is truly one-of-a-kind and not to be missed. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and peaceful. Inside, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of old beer bottles with the labels still intact - makes for good conversation while you're waiting for your pizza! My husband noticed that there was a swag of dried hops draped over the doorway in the restaurant, and wants me to decorate our house with hops now too. ;-) The husband also is a bit of a beer nerd, and he said the IPA that he tried was the kind of beer that he could just sit and drink all day long. Both times we arrived and signed into the seating list, then were completely ignored. Each time we were waited about 5 minutes before we left. When you drive from Bellingham to Mt. Baker - on your way to ski, hike, snowboard, or dirt bike - you find the landscape dominated by small farms, spindly hemlocks, pick-up trucks sporting McCain/Palin bumperstickers, and the occasional post-war bungalow. This is a stretch of highway that most people forget amidst their excitement to either climb Kulshan or return to B'ham for an apres ski drink. You can imagine how ecstatic I was to discover that mid-way between these two destinations is a craft brewery! Formally named the North Fork Brewery, but locally known as The Beer Shrine, this cozy lodge is packed to the rafters with breweriana. While the hallowed beer memorabilia everywhere and flowing ales from North Fork's eight taps may induce veneration in cerevisaphiles, this place is a shrine in more ways than one...it is an actual wedding chapel. Who needs champagne when you can have fresh cream ale? I visited The Beer Shrine with my dad and family friend from Bellingham. Our friend had gone once before, several years ago, and suggested we head there after a short hike in the area. The brewery is not large, and the taproom seats about fifty. We sat at the bar and promptly ordered schooners of their Hefe, ESB, and IPA. It seems as though North Fork uses nitro in most of their ales, as opposed to the cheaper and more common carbon dioxide. Excluding the wheat beer, all of our drinks were really really smooth (too smooth?) and displayed that trademark Guinness head. I tried all three of these beers and they were all decent. They were all drinkable and mild, which I kind of liked since we were day-drinking, but they were also pretty forgettable. We all wished we were hungry at the time too because North Fork specializes in New York style pizza. This is pretty much the only thing I saw people eating, and a couple behind us had the most intimidating (and awesome looking!) roasted garlic and capocollo pie on their table. I plan to return in summer, with a hunger and a growler. read more

Great brewery and one of the few options in the area. I'm so glad we stopped here after our river rafting trip. Unfortunately, it was their busiest night of the year, so we waited at least 1.5 hour before being seated. We sat in their "garden" and had a few of their beers as we waited patiently. I liked their IPA and Porter. Once we finally got food, it was pretty good. We had a salad, a few pizzas, and the lasagna. Everything tasted good and at such a great price! Best thin crust pizza in the area. Their beer is pretty good too. Not for the bud drinker, it's got all of that micro brew flavor that many of us have grown to love. No reservations so be prepared to wait a bit if you hit the rush. We have been taking our kids there for over 10 years to celebrate their soccer wins, birthdays and to just have a nice meal. My husband and I were just married at North Fork this last weekend, and could not have been happier. We love going here, as it is, and always joked about getting married at the Brewery, and it worked out that we did! Vicki (the owner) is hilarious and amazing. She took care of everything and made it great. The staff was also so friendly and adorable. Really great beers and pizza! I've been here a few times the past couple years. I have always been a fan of the beers. I have had different food items (calzone, pizza, salads) which have been delicious and huge portions - great for splitting. One pizza was way too salty (I think it was a Mediterranean one so clearly a saltier than average pizza to start). Also had the oyster shooters - that was a major mistake. They were nasty, goopy and not chilled at all. Waste of money so please don't order those to save your life. I don't know what I was thinking. But the rest of the menu has been great for me. They also fill your growler for about $9. A perfect little take home treat! read more

This place is the reason I bring a growler in the trunk everywhere I go. Being a Seattlite, I ride Mt Baker a few times a year, and on the way home, I ALWAYS stop at the North Fork. The service, and atmosphere have always been great. The Pizza and the hand crafted ales keep me hooked. I usually spring for a special pie with lots of veggies, and the crust refuses to sog. True sign of a remarkable pizza. I'm a pizza snob, and this place is on my top 5 on the West Coast. The IPA and the Scotch Ale are legit if you like a balanced, full bodied ale. If you get married there, kudos to you, I bet the reception will be yummy. read more
