Stones Throw is a fun ... vacation vibe tap room... as it's tented and the sun is shining. Kind of broken up in to three spaces. The beer was delicious as the space was inviting. There was one regular bellied up to the bar that we made friendly conversation w about movies and such. Street parking is easy w a few spots across the street. We went to Stone's Throw Brewery on Friday afternoon at about 4:00 PM. I love this brewery because it is so chill and laid back. I enjoyed a seasonal beer on this visit, their Tree Logs beer, which is a light beer but very full bodied. I love that Stone's Throw doesn't just have a lot of seating, but a lot of variety in places to sit. You can sit outside, or inside by the games, or inside by the fire, or inside by the cashier...there is a LOT of space, and you still can have a private conversation. Shoutout to them that they sell local art as well-I am a BIG fan of the magnets that they sell on behalf of a local artist. read more

Two different upstairs and outside spots on top of containers, an inner courtyard with fire pit, an inside area and the front outside area. So you will find a nook to hang out with your friends for sure here! Most of the space is outside and they do have heaters, but be sure and bring warm clothing if it is cold out when you come here. read more

I have been a fan of Stones Throw Brewery for a long time. I was surprised to see that I haven't reviewed them until now. They are a brewery. They make great beer. In addition they also brew a great ginger ale in case you feel like something delicious without alcohol. Of course they also have ciders and wine. One thing they don't have is food. But often the have a food truck or two park on the side. Or you can bring your own from elsewhere. The place is full of little areas to sit in. The area towards the road is dog friendly, and they have a number of dog bowls available that you can fill with water. The brewery cares about the community, and every now and then they organize a "block party" where the block off the street outside and bring beer and music out. read more

After watching the progress while they were building out the location to our recent visit...I like this place. So many fun places within the brewery to sip on your brew from a place with an outdoor fire to a cool place in front of the building, to a little area outside and upstairs, to a place inside--all areas have their own vibe and great. The beer is solid and a good selection of different types and keeps getting better each time we are in. They do not have their own food but have food trucks their often. The other thing that I thought was a fun feature is they have a place you can rent on property (I think you have to go thru air bnb) but how fun! The staff knows their stuff and provide fast and good customer service. Each time I drop by, I fall more in love with this brewery. Stop by and check it out! read more

Had a great visit on our trip to Bellingham. Solid beer and they had some delicious baked goods. Plus a great hot dog tent right next to it. The location is shockingly big. It seems small until you go back to the restroom and realize its a enormous spot with a ton of seating, maybe not as much if its raining, but a ton if the sun is out. I would recommend for sure. I would plan on revisiting next time around. read more

I popped in with a friend who lives a few blocks away. I had seen it in Bellingham local write up. And it looked pretty interesting to me. I only had one beer and it was fine. So I'll just write on my experience with the ambiance and with the service. The server was great and super friendly, it's like a trend I'm experiencing in historic Fairhaven. It looks like it's an attachment to an old character home, outdoor seating in the front and back, complete with fire pits, string lights, and also indoor seating. This was our first stop on our quest to go to all the breweries in Bellingham and I have to say that it was a good first stop especially on a nice sunny day. There was great outdoor seating that we really enjoyed on the sunny day we went but since there was just covered/uncovered area and no indoor area, it leaves me wondering what this place is like in the winter. It is super pet and family friendly and had some great seating. It also seemed like there were some great events and food trucks lined up and listed for everyone to check out. When we went to order beers, they did not have a big selection and did not have any dark beer, but the beer they did have was pretty decent. It is also really cool that they are very sustainable and made the brewery part out of shipping containers. I think Stones Throw is really great. Their atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, two things I love when drinking beer! They're also dog friendly, which means you'll always see the cutest pups. Their ginger beer (non-alcoholic) is super yummy and there's often (usually?) some sort of foot truck/stand available. The prices are fair and I love having a brewery in Fairhaven! There's live music most weekends too, which adds even more to the fun atmosphere. read more

What a cute little brewery! We spent most of our time outside, but we did go inside to order our beers. I ended up getting the cider and it was pretty good, but almost reminded me of a sour beer because of how tart it was. Outside, they have televisions and giant jenga, which our group played for a long time! It is NERVE WRACKING. Be aware that those jenga pieces are HEAVY and will crush your toes. read more

Stones Throw is probably one of the coolest settings for a brewery in Bellingham. Tucked between two buildings in the historic Fairhaven district, it boasts eclectic outdoor seating (including a couple of firepits), a brewhouse made from a repurposed shipping container, and a tasting room featuring old steel bridge supports with built-in pint-glass holders. It's a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy a cold pint on a cool evening. My new favorite is the Fairhaven Fix, a coffee-infused collab with nearby Tony's Coffee House. If you like coffee beers, this is one of the good ones. Their Black IPA is no slouch, either. Now that Stones Throw has been around awhile, their beers are definitely hitting a new mark in terms of quality and complexity. Combine that with super friendly service and a cool vibe, and you have a winner in the south end. Just wish there were more food options nearby - although I've noticed they've got food trucks around more often now, especially on the weekends. I'm definitely looking forward to watching these guys hit their stride! read more

We just happened to drive by this unique micro brewery! The overall feel is like having a cozy meal in your friends backyard! Tonight they were featuring food from the Back East food truck! Each night they feature different food trucks...but always the same great setting and brewery! There are many different seating areas as you walk through the brewery. Just past the food truck there is a casual outdoor seating area with a propane fire pit and oversized Jenga! Bar side there were more tables with great views of the live music and this area is indoor. As you walk into the back there is a great cozy patio surrounded by trees and covered by a beautiful white canopy. Up the stairs there is a "container" top patio...super cool! The cider was great...we really enjoyed our drinks and food...will be back to enjoy more of the atmosphere, music and new food truck options! I really enjoy coming to this brewery located in Fairhaven. It's got a lot of character. The brew house is made of a shipping container. The outdoor areas (front and back) include seating with a fire pits and canopy coverage. You can go to a second floor, accessible out back, for additional seating. I believe that there may be around a dozen beers and ciders on tap. Some of this is "seasonal" or "limited release ". There are only a few packaged snacks available for purchase. However, you can bring in food from outside the establishment. A food truck is often parked outside the bar, especially on weekends. The food truck that I most often see is barbecue meat items. Music, comedy, and other events are held here. Check their calendar for details. Be prepared for a packed house and limited parking. read more

Was there last night for the Badd Dogs Blues Society -- they are kind of our own "personal" band. My now-husband introduced me to them and not only am I a huge fan, but they played both our engagement party and our wedding so they are kind of OUR band. ...but I digress. We ended up at Stone's Throw because the BDBS were playing. What an adorable venue! Took us a bit to get the right combo of "comfortable seating" spot, warm enough (they had patio heaters) and a good view of/access to the band. But, we made it happen, finally, after three moves. I have to admit, this place is HUGELY charming. I could see how it appeals. An eclectic mix of families with kids, even toddlers, pets and babes in arms, an older crowd...just about everything. And, the various spaces they had were just magical. Some a little cold for winter but I can see how it'd be super special in the summer. Now, my only "ding." It's only beer and cider. I'm not a huge cider drinker even though I enjoy a well-made brew, and while hubby loves his amber/porter/stout, it wasn't my beverage of choice. So, with this place as special as it was, if they just even had "red/white/pink" in a wine option, I'd suffer through not having my usual preference if there was SOME wine on the menu. Now, one other plus...BACK EAST BBQ. I'd go here again on a Saturday knowing their truck was here providing food regardless of anything else. I am a huge BBQ aficionado and I measure "legit" by how someone does brisket. Their brisket was...TOTALLY legit. I also have to admit I had probably the MOST unhealthy meal in my life last night, but, it was also one of the best. Some sort of waffle fries/cheese/brisket/pork/chicken concoction that, at a half order, was perfect for three to share. I'm sorry...I'm a hoidy-toidy yacht chef and cook/serve 5* regularly, but this bowled me over. If I die after this meal, it will be worth it. Go, find them, eat THIS. It's mindblowing. In Bellingham for a weekend and trying to visit as many craft breweries as we could. Stones Throw was on our list and it was part of the Tap Trail passport so off we went. Not being from the area, it was a little challenging to find. We were surprised by how large it was when we arrived considering the space...they have utilized all available space. They have several seating options including a rear lower patio and a roof deck. What is neat is they used shipping containers as the base of the brewery, the roof deck sits on one, and there is one where the tanks are stored. I did like the use of the space and variety of seating. I tried their Neighbourhood IPA (65 IBU & 6.2%) and it was okay...nothing special. The bartender was the only one on staff when we were there and was not fully engaged. With so many craft brewery options in Bellingham, we have no plans to return to Stones Throw. read more

If you're just heading out for a beer and want a nice setting where you can enjoy it, you can bump this place up to five stars. The spaces here are truly incredible, one of the nicest small breweries I've seen in a while. If you're more finicky about beer quality, I'd put these guys toward the middle of the pack. Given that Bellingham is a small place with a wide variety of other breweries you can visit, you can go check out a spot with something incredible pouring if that's more your speed. This is a funky cool blended business district outside of downtown Bham; I'm just getting used to the different neighborhoods and vibes around here. From the street, seeing it for the first time, Stones Throw looks like it might be in an older house that butts up to the sidewalk; once you get past the sign you see that it's a cool restored building set back from the street a bit, and the welcoming vibe hits you as soon as you set foot on the gravel. There are covered spots with benches, some picnic tables, and high rails with stools. It all feels like a very nice patio space in an almost residential way; the house was definitely a home at some point and they do a great job of preserving a homey feel to it. You walk through either the big roll-up garage door or the human-sized door to the side (depending on the weather), and the taproom has a few tables and chairs and some stools around the bar. Everything has a nice light wood feel to it, and there's a big framed nautical chart of the Salish Sea on the back wall. It feels like a cool cabin that's been restored by hand. Further back there's another patio, sunken, with a firepit, tables, and hewn log benches. Classic northwest cabin/vacation home gathering-spot feel to it. Wonderful ambiance. You walk across a little walkway to where the brewhouse and bathrooms are. They clearly thought through how to get the most out of every space without overdoing it. They don't have a huge brewhouse, but they have a full lineup of house beers pouring already (July 16) and a couple of thoughtfully selected guest taps from the PNW. We didn't meet many staff, but the bartender was incredibly charming and nice. Or, she laughed at all our jokes and poured good pints. I also have to say the prices here are really good--$5 pints. Nice! We checked out a pale and an IPA. Both had chocolatey notes and other flavor components that didn't really belong; it's hard to say whether they're maybe using organic malt and they're not used to it, or the yeast is doing something unexpected, or what. Every table was full of people who seemed to all be having more than one beer, so this could be subjective, but I'd expect to see them still dialing in exactly how they want these beers to taste. If the beer comes up to match the quality of the ambiance, this place will be truly special. read more
