This is a great tap room in downtown historic Lynden, located in the rebuilt mercantile space. I love how they staid true to the historic space, but added modern touches. Overflow taps has a good list of local beers and ciders to select from. They offer taster flights you can build. You can also take home favorites in crowlers. If cider and beer is not your jam, they have a good wine list as well. They have some snacks available to order, or you can bring in your own food. A small percentage of all purchases go towards clean water projects in other countries. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed a flight here on Friday evening in their small outdoor space. Love summer evenings in the PNW.

Special beers to go from Overflow!

Always a great lineup of beer and cider on tap as well as for to go. I love how active they are on social media as it gives you the inside scoop on what's coming or just arrived. Also, if you make a special request there is a decent chance they will get it in at some point. Owners Jesse and Adam are both awesome people and have a great team! Special shoutout to beer tender Natalie for hooking up some amazing beers to go (pictured here). Not sure what prompted her to pay it forward but so thankful she did. Bottom line - if you like craft beer or cider, go check out Overflow Taps. If you don't like beer or cider, go check out Overflow Taps as they likely have something to change your mind.

One of our favorite places to grab a drink and socialize in Lynden. Classy atmosphere and right in downtown Lynden. Wish they stayed open later than ten though on week nights!

This is essentially the 'Cheers' of Lynden. This small and friendly town has a number of charming places filled with equally charming people to help you choose your BOTD (Beer of the Day). The Overflow is a great place to sit and chill.

Selection, location, interior and vibe galore. As a friend of serious beer lovers and hardcore winos, this place is a meet in the middle haven! Quick, friendly service. Quality products- from Campfire Stout, Cream Ale on Nitro to a sassy Rosé or a rich Cabernet. My heart was totally stolen. They offer a gluten free beer too! The policy on bring food in or ordering food from a local joint is...wait for this...ENCOURAGED! Awesome, friendly folks serving and pouring too. Yes, please! Ample parking, easy walking location, outdoor seating, games to bond over. My criteria: Lynden The need for a hip hangout joint? Solved. Nice work, guys. I'll be returning!

Little beer patio here.

I should selfishly give this place a poor review, just to keep this gem all to myself.

District Brewing - El Dorado pizza

District Brewing

For the 5th installment of my "26 in 26" series, where I visit 26 new-to-me businesses this year, I…read moreventured up to the outskirts of Lynden to visit this third (and newest) location of District Brewing. District is a fave of mine in Mount Vernon, so I was eager to see if this Lynden location lived up to their og brewery. First, because you were probably wondering, YES they have the ahhhhmazing, thick-crust wood-fired pizza that District is known for. They also have the full District tap list, along with guest taps, plus cider, wine, and some NA options, too. The service was pretty friendly, too, and if you're a DB "frequent flyer" yes, your points transfer between locations. If you're looking for District beer, District pizza, District salads, and epic District wings, they've got you covered. Now, for the part that really didn't work for me: the atmosphere. It was really more like a family-friendly sports bar than chill brewery vibe. This surprised me, as (at least last time I was there!) the MV location doesn't have giant flatscreens in every room blaring the big game loudly over the sound of your pizza. I mean, if I was looking to watch a game this would be a great place to go. But I wasn't. And being as it was a quiet Sunday afternoon with literally nobody else in the place...the loud games really detracted from the whole experience. Speaking of sports, if you're a follower of local HS sports you'll love the north county-centric sports memorabilia around the restaurant! From cheerleader uniforms to football helmets, it was really eclectic and cool to see so many local youth sports stars being remembered in such a fun way. But it was still darn loud in there. Good pizza, though!

A local favorite, a little bit off the beaten path, but worse looking for it. Very friendly and timely service, really good food, and a great menu that everybody will find something on that they like. If you're vegan, that last comment may be inaccurate ;-). You gotta try the milkshakes, this reminds me of what I was used to growing up at some of the great family restaurants in the 1970s. Outstanding! The interior of the restaurant is decorated with an eclectic Western theme and your eyes will never get tired of looking for all the details. Our granddaughter loved it! And so did the grandparents and my dad. We'll be back.

It turned out as we expected, but we optimistically hoped for more…read more I had the prime rib, which I had been craving. It was okay, but not something I'd order again. The horse radish was pretty generic and didn't have any "punch" to it. The Caesar salad lettuce was a bit wilted and too much dressing. The loaded baked potato was okay. My son enjoyed his clam chowder. The pot pie was rather small for $20! It was not enjoyed. Unfortunately, a frozen Marie Calendars is better. Two people ordered this and didn't eat them all. Salad bar is pretty underwhelming. The star here is the peanut butter chocolate shake! Yum! Service was attentive and friendly. Parking: Quite a few spots that go all the way around the building, but was a bit full on a Friday night.

The bartender was cheerful and busy, but attentive to our requests. I have been here a handful of times before. My favorite is the French Dip, but there are many things that I have not tried. We shared the tuna sushi appetizer, which enjoyed a great deal. The crispy fried onions gave it a kick of texture and flavor. My wife had the teriyaki chicken bowl, which tasted good, but she wished she had another order of the sushi. I had the miso king salmon *really* hit the spot for me, and it was not overcooked a bit. The miso taste was quite mild. The Brussels sprouts were tasty, and the rice good. The amazing sauce brought it all together. I ate the entire plate, which surprised my wife. Service was very good. Although it was at capacity, and the games were on the TVs at the bar (with volume way down or off), it was not too noisy, so my wife and I could talk easily without shouting. I appreciate the restrooms here. Full closing doors for each commode!
