This year, my "26 in 26" goal is to visit new-to-me local businesses (or re-visit ones I haven't been to in awhile). Judging from the fact my og review of Overflow's Lynden location is almost 10 years old (!), I'd say it's more than time for a refresh. A lot has changed since my 2016 declaration that "beer and Lynden" are not often two words you associate with each other. Lynden now has a few hoppy outposts, including a second Overflow location on the west side. Guess I'll add that one to my list, too! This particular Sunday, we were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a quiet beer and play a game of cribbage. I was excited to see Overflow was open (back in "the day" most Lynden businesses were closed on Sundays). We grabbed a couple of pints (just $5 ea!) and sat down for our game. The service was friendly, the place was uncrowded, and it was hard not to order a second pint before the long drive home to the Ham. Overflow, congrats on 10 years in Lynden! It's great to see you're still thriving, still serving up some great beer choices, and still supporting clean water initiatives. Cheers! read more

Overflow taps has 2 locations - Lynden, WA (original), and Bellingham, Wa in the Barkley village. Their locations are cute, with ever growing additions. Great beer, cider (lemon basil is delicious!), and now snacks. Great place to meet up with friends for a beer and a board game. read more

four of us went to overflow taps and were greeted very coldly by the woman behind the bar. she was unhelpful and made us feel unwelcome. between Graze and Gather and Overflow taps, we will not go back. very sad and too bad. we went to Gyros in Lynden and spent a good amount of money, were treated nicely and we will go there again. read more

This is a great tap room in downtown historic Lynden, located in the rebuilt mercantile space. I love how they staid true to the historic space, but added modern touches. Overflow taps has a good list of local beers and ciders to select from. They offer taster flights you can build. You can also take home favorites in crowlers. If cider and beer is not your jam, they have a good wine list as well. They have some snacks available to order, or you can bring in your own food. A small percentage of all purchases go towards clean water projects in other countries. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed a flight here on Friday evening in their small outdoor space. Love summer evenings in the PNW. read more

Always a great lineup of beer and cider on tap as well as for to go. I love how active they are on social media as it gives you the inside scoop on what's coming or just arrived. Also, if you make a special request there is a decent chance they will get it in at some point. Owners Jesse and Adam are both awesome people and have a great team! We have been to Overflow Taps in Lynden on several occasions. This time we brought in a pizza from Coconut Kenny's to enjoy with the Fresh Hop tap takeover. They had a nice selection (7, I think) of fresh hop beers from Washington State. In addition to Beers, they have ciders and wines on tap, as well as a cold brew coffee. The decor is beautiful with nice live-edge furniture. It can be a little loud if they are crowded. I recommend keeping an eye on their social media and go when they are having a street party. The time we went for live music in the street was great! read more

Great atmosphere and cheap drinks. They even have a cute chart thing where you can buy someone else a drink. I thought that feature was super thoughtful. The variety is great and being able to order food from surrounding businesses is an appreciated option. Board game variety could be worked on but overall it's a great place for a drink. read more

I enjoy this place I've come here a few times to meet weigh friends it's a cozy vibe the staff is knowledgeable when it came to the beers and wine..and you can have food from all over deliver right to the restaurant which is nice...avenue bread is attached and they bring over plated meals that look amazing it's perfect during winter to get a seat by the fire place! Came in for a few beers. This is a nice little bar just over the border from Abbotsford. Decor is nice modern and woody...not woodsy. They have 9 beer taps, cider, wine and hard seltzer that you can add flavour to. The beers are a nice selection of PNW breweries. Everything I tried was good. This is a great place to stop for a few on your way to Bellingham or Seattle. read more

On a recent trip to Lynden (no, we didn't take a wrong turn, we went there on purpose) it was amazing to see what this fine city has done with the buildings and shops along Front St. And tucked in the back is an ambitious craft beer dispensary, which is Overflow Taps. The owner that we met was extremely beer-knoweldgeable, friendly, and gave the impression that he truly cares about bringing craft beer to Lynden. While their selection of taps is not as large as some of the other watering holes in Whatcom County, their selection is truly well thought out and creative. They also donate a generous amount for each pint sold to bring clean water to less fortunate individuals around the world. This is a must-visit location for me if I find myself near Lynden again. read more

They're also more than okay with you ordering delivery from many of the other businesses in Lynden as they don't serve food themselves (though they do have a few snacks available. The owners/workers here are great. The rotating beers are delicious. The atmosphere is nice for getting together with friends. The only downside is that it gets really loud inside, prolly due to the old cement walls & kinda small area. Nowhere for the sound to go. BUT, it is a great local place to go & we will continue to go here for some good drinks. read more

This place is great for gathering with friends but the beer prices can be a little steep. I paid $6 for a regular pint of beer, knowing I could get that same beer elsewhere for at least $1.00 cheaper. They do have a great charity program set up where .25 cents from every beer goes to a water conservation charity, which is wonderful and well advertised in house. Avenue Bread and a few other local food spots are near by, but Overflow doesn't serve food themselves. I definitely like the vibe of Overflow and would say it's a good place to meet friends or to start for a night out. read more

What a wonderful find. We wanted to find a local bar to enjoy a nice cold beer on this very hot day. We actually Googled this place and we were pleasantly surprised. The owner is very knowledgeable and we were able to sample the different beers on tap. Prices were good as well. Definitely the place to go for a good cold beer! :) read more

This is a great spot in downtown Lynden. I waited a long time for a Lynden pub such as this. If I'm not in the mood for one of their great hoppy beers on tap, I have a favorite red wine from their selection of wines. It is also fun to have my choice of several nearby eateries where I can buy whatever food suits my mood and bring it into Overflow. I recommend giving Overflow a try.
