Judging from the fact my og review of Overflow's Lynden location is almost 10 years old (!), I'd say it's more than time for a refresh. A lot has changed since my 2016 declaration that "beer and Lynden" are not often two words you associate with each other. Lynden now has a few hoppy outposts, including a second Overflow location on the west side. Guess I'll add that one to my list, too! This particular Sunday, we were looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a quiet beer and play a game of cribbage. I was excited to see Overflow was open (back in "the day" most Lynden businesses were closed on Sundays). We grabbed a couple of pints (just $5 ea!) and sat down for our game. The service was friendly, the place was uncrowded, and it was hard not to order a second pint before the long drive home to the Ham. Overflow, congrats on 10 years in Lynden! It's great to see you're still thriving, still serving up some great beer choices, and still supporting clean water initiatives. Cheers!

The hostess greats you at the door with smiling eyes and kind words. She welcomes you into a beautiful quiet dining area and introduces you to the owner of the fine dining establishment. As you look at your wife you see her heart is filled with joy in just the few moments it took to walk to your seat. The hostess ask you right away "what would you like to drink this evening?" and takes your drink order with a smile. As she returns with you beverages she gracefully asks if you've had time to decide what you'd like for dinner. When the main course arrives and you've taken your first two bites you realize...the culinary professionals have absolutely captured the tastefulness of the Pacific Northwests cuisine. Your tastebuds dance with joy as wonder burst of flavors erupt on palate. You once again turn your attention to your wife as she explains "This is exactly what I needed." The hostess returns to your table and asks "How is everything tasting tonight." You explain to her that "words cannot explain how wonderful it all is." The hostess light and delightful conversation almost makes it feel like you're her only responsibility for the night, even though the restaurant is bustling with energy and wonderfully light music. Abby was our waitress and had some wonderful recommendations! We had the pesto bites and I tried the espresso martini and it was delicious! We both had burgers but that was a hard decision since everything sounded delicious! We ended getting the berry tart for dessert to go, since we were stuffed. Burger leaves much to be desired with little flavor and poor presentation. Potato wedges don't seem to be seasoned and we're over baked. Nachos are worth your time if you want a snack. The furnishings and carpet show their age. Not appropriate if you're on a date or trying to impress someone. Why 4 stars? The staff and patrons really make Glynn's a special place. People are friendly and social. Within 5 minutes of sitting down, 4 people approached us for service and participation in a Super Bowl activity. This is a contrast to typical service in Bellingham. Starin is an exceptional waitress and bartender. She checks in frequently and gives recommendations. She doesn't appear bothered to be doing the job for which she was hired. If you're Midwestern native like me, you'll feel right at home in Glynn's. I'm looking forward to attending events in the future.

There's also plenty of seating, lots of shade, and it's close to the grandstand so you can listen in on whatever the day's main event is. However...in a beer community like Whatcom County it feels almost like a slap in the face that there isn't a single local brew on tap. And at $7 for a 12-ounce pour the prices are ridiculously high for what you get. It's also far from the closest food stand so if you're hungry grab something before you head over. The final punch in the gut is that they STILL take cash only. Which, seriously, is almost inexplicable. C'mon Outlaws...you can do better than this.

The food was OK the burger my husband really liked it was giant, my seabass was a little under cooked, but I was able to get the garlic herb butter on it instaid of the mandarin sauce which I was thankful about. All in all it was OK nothing to rave about and I still think about the hostess awkwardness upon arrival
