    Mititei ("The Little Ones")

Noroc Restaurant keeps it simple and does it really well. The Russian salad was the first thing I tried and it stood out, it's like a mix of egg salad and potato salad, super creamy with a nice dill-forward flavor from the pickles. The little bologna pieces are unexpected but actually work, they add that salty bite that brings everything together. I also had the Mititei ("The Little Ones")basically like a homemade sausage, juicy, garlicky, and grilled with a nice char. Everything feels authentic and well-prepared, just solid food done right. 5 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex

If you have never tried Eastern European cuisine...Noroc is the go to destination.. located in Carmichael, this enchanting restaurant has everything you can look for. Tasty and quaint dishes of the region. You can order any dish on the menu, and be very confident it is amazing! Being vegetarian I had the Greek salad which was wholesome and appeasing not only to the sight but taste as well. My husband loved the sausage dish and my brother in law loved the chicken ..everything including the bread is home made. Every dish is cooked to order. Maria provided the best customer service. She explained the dishes and made recommendations and was very pleasant to converse with. To top it all, they have a bar as well as live music three days a week

Delicious eastern European food with somewhat random, somewhat cute ambience. I've been twice and the borscht (beet soup) and cabbage rolls were AMAZING! The potato varenyki are very good too and it's a pretty large order....perfect for sharing. The zucchini pancakes were HUGE and had great flavor and texture. My family ordered the pork schnitzel and mashed potatoes which I tried and that was well made and tasty as well. I'm dying to try the desserts but haven't yet. They have so much variety on the menu so there's something for everyone! One time when we went on a Saturday evening they had someone singing and she had a beautiful voice. It felt a bit random, maybe, but we enjoyed it. The service is a little cold sometimes but decent enough. Place is super clean and I honestly can't wait to go back for some more of their delicious comfort food

I haven't been here for a while but I was craving borscht. Sacramento is a city devoid of good soup restaurants. I love a variety of soups year round and many restaurants don't offer any soup. Noroc offers a few soups from Eastern Europe. I have found their vegetarian Borscht to be of the highest quality and one that is infused with great flavor. Likewise, I fell in love with the cured pork & raw veggie dish. The richness of the cured pork is negated by the raw onion, raw garlic, dill pickles, and horseradish. The course bread was a perfect platter for all of that fat goodness! The restaurant had several patrons when I visited on a Friday evening around 5:30 PM. There was a large party and several other groupings of 2 - 4 people. I was a solo diner. It seems that was only one server for the entire restaurant and she was also the bar tender. Because of that, I think the service was a bit slow; however, I recognize that the food is prepared to order and that there may have been a backlog in the kitchen because of that. I enjoyed the ambience - especially the reproduction of 2 dining areas set up like a kitchen might be in a humble Eastern European village. I have never been dissatisfied with the quality and taste of the food at Noroc and will always be willing to return.

    Borsch

Borsch was so good, like home taste. Beefstroganoff without mushrooms what I didn't like.

We will be back... 2 glasses of cab... beet salad with home made bread.... farmers cheese dumpling with sour cream.... zucchini pancakes..... BEST cabbage rolls... and the apple strudel. Thank you for a great experience.

    Our table for two....

I moved here about a year ago and have been dying to try Noroc since then! Me and my mom went last night and I can't believe I waited so long because the food is SO good! We might have accidentally over ordered because we got excited- the only downside is that we couldn't find room in our stomachs for the cherry blini. Our grandma's pierogi have been missing from the table and our hearts for almost 15 years now - and the potato & farmers cheese vareniki took me right back to her table. They were just the same. We also ordered the beet salad (which was so good my mom ate despite "not liking" beets), the green side salad, zucchini pancakes and placinte. The table was full and we were happy!! We were also offered a try of kvass, which I should have just ordered from the start! It was delicious too! (And the Moldovan rose was delightful!) All the food is homemade ...and you can tell. Everyone who works there is so lovely, the food is so good, I loved the homey feeling inside, as if you were visiting a Moldovan home instead of a restaurant. There's also a gal who sings!! She has a beautiful voice!! I think they have live music often. I'll be back soon! )Great vegetarian options too by the way!!! I was so happy and full)

Disclaimer: Norcoc Restaurant is one of the first Russian restaurants I've been to in Sacramento and I think I might just not really prefer Russian food but maybe if you are a fan of this type of food you would enjoy it. (Everyone else at my table did) When we got to the restaurant we were immediately seated to a comfortable booth and given menus. There were so many options! I think it might be better if they narrowed down their menu a bit and just focused on the favorites, I don't know though. I ordered the beef/pork dumplings and I thought they were ok. The yogurt sauce was good but the filling was so compact that it just formed a solid ball that would sometimes roll out when you cut the dough encasing and I think I prefer when the dumpling feels more like one thing and the filling is not so compact. Idk if that makes sense. My friend got the chicken Kiev dish and he absolutely loved it! I tried it and I thought is was ok but I usually don't like fried breaded food so I think it might just be me. The coleslaw on the side was great though! Very fresh and citrusy. It also came with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and I especially liked this Russian juice called Kvas that I ordered. I would recommend this place to anyone who is craving Russian food:)

This is not a Russian restaurant. Noroc means luck in Romanian. They serve traditional Romanian and Moldovan food.

They had a dj but the music isn't too loud that you can't carry on a conversation at the table. It was great music and set the tone for more of a chill vibe (versus other R&B brunch spots that have more of a club/day party atmosphere). V's Paradise is modern elegance, yet not pretentious. It's beautiful. It is located front & center in Old Sac, so I saw quite a mix of customers come in, from the super casual tourist, baseball fans, dressed up couples, and trendy fashionistas. I made a reservation for 11am, but it really didn't get busy til after 12:30pm. I think once the word is out that they have weekend brunch (with a dj), you'll definitely need to make reservations. The dining rooms are gorgeous (restroom too!). Love the velvet furniture and all of the gold and marble accents. V's would make an impressive and sexy date night, or for just any special occasion. I sipped on a mango lemon drop ($15) at the bar while I waited for my friends. With brunch I ordered the most expensive sangria ($18) I've ever had, and it was strong, fruit forward, and beautifully presented. I would order this again. For our mains, we had the roasted vegetable panini ($19) with fries, the burger ($24) with potatoes, and the bacon and eggs ($22) with potatoes and sourdough toast. My panini was good, nothing great. I think they could've used a thinner bread, instead of a hoagie. The crispy matchstick fries were delicious. I asked for a side of ranch, and our server Tyler informed me it was and extra $4! WTF? Really? I didn't need ranch that badly. I do appreciate Tyler for letting me know in advance though. I bet people have complained that they didn't know about that absurd extra charge when they got the bill, and the restaurant had to eat the cost. Kudos to Tyler for avoiding that incident with me. LOL He also saved my friend from ordering the $175 tomahawk steak. She was thinking it was something else and didn't even notice the price. When she ordered it, I looked at her like she was crazy, and Tyler politely steered her away from that suggesting if we we all wanted to share it. The tomahawk is 48oz of meat! She got the bacon & eggs instead. LOL I loved the vibes and the atmosphere of V's. Service was great. All of the staff I came in contact with were friendly and welcoming. Tyler was professional and polite. A great addition to Old Sac.

I dont have photos of what I got for valentines day but remmeber them being ok but nothing mind-blowing Maybe its just the DOCO one that sucks but I went to give them another chance the day before mother's day and sorely regretted it. I got the matcha croissant ive been hearing about, the new blueberry cream croissant and the mango passionfruit entremet. The Croissants were a huge flop. Blueberry had barely enough filling inside-the cream itself was tasty but croissant was rough in texture and not flaky. Matcha was a bit more flaky and had more filling-I wouldn't say GENEROUS amount as some have said but maybe I just got a bad one. The cream was too subtle -it was more like vanilla with a hint of matcha. The entremet was the only one that didnt suck-it was delicious but again I wouldn't say anywhere in Sacramento has wowed me yet with their entremets compared to places in the bay except for the ones that ginger Elizabeth has had in the past-the flavor itself was on point, i will say the texture of the entremets have a majority layer of the jelly part-if they could perfect the variety of layers you're supposed to get in each bite I would be more impressed as thats the whole point of enjoying an entremet. Honestly I should have just gotten one pastry to try in one day as they are pricey-i paid 31 not including the tip fot my pastries, and in this economy one cannot waste that much on disappointing sweet treats lol

For dessert we had 3 options, but 1 was out, so we got the honey cake and settled for the pavlova. Honey cake was the definite favorite, dense and creamy, exactly how it should be. Ever find a place to be...lacking hospitality to new faces in a restaurant?…read more Let's talk about the service first. We came on a Friday night and there were 2-3 other tables. Our server did not give us a breakdown of any dish, or even the categories on the menu (which by the way, are in Russian). They kinda expected us to "know" everything on the menu. My wife and I ended up googling EVERYTHING, and deciding on what to eat after reading other yelp reviews and what the dishes looked like. After taking a good 10mins of googling and figuring out what to order, we had to raise our hand several times, to a point where we had to call our waiter over vocally and with a hand wave to take our order. The restaurant really isn't big with only 2 other tables being occupied, and I guess locals do come here often and chat with the servers, but we're talking a good extra 5min of not looking at a menu and just waiting. People are raving about the service but I personally just didn't experience the same kind of hospitality. We ordered a borsch, a beef stroganoff, and a viennese schnitzel. I wouldn't say the food came out slow, but it was at the pace of a homecooked meal. The borsh tasted a lot better than ones I've had, and the sour cream was very creamy and fresh. The beef stroganoff was the star of the show with how flavorful and creamy it was. The beef was very tender, and the kasha was especially good. It's definitely enough to fill one person up. The viennese schnitzel is basically a fried pork cutlet (like a katsu) but with different seasonings and paired with some kind of red sauce. The mashed potatoes...were just mashed potatoes. The portion felt a little small for the price for what you get, pork cutlet and mashed potatoes being $27. I can see how authentic this place is, but being tucked so far away in Richmond naturally gets it lower foot traffic than other more accessible spots. The food is delicious and if people are willing to take their grandparents here, then you know it's authentic. I just wish the service was more attentive. The portions to price ratio was also pretty low, and I left feeling a little hungry despite spending $75 before tax and tip for 2. This place is feels more geared to reminiscing a childhood flavor with the family over a date night IMO.
