Decided to get some diner food for lunch. Even though it's a regular building on the outside, it does give that old school diner feel on the inside which was nice. The server was quick to greet and take my order, but once I got my food was hard to track down to get the check. I got the meatloaf blue plate special with Mac and cheese, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was good; it was t too dry or bland like some. I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce since I usually just like a more tomatoey ketchup sauce, yet this one seemed to have a southwest flare that changed the whole flavor profile of the meatloaf. All of the sides were good. The green beans had some bacon in them which gave them that nice extra flavor. Mashed potatoes were creamy and the gravy added a nice flavor. Sometimes at a diner all the food can be bland, but that was not the case here. It is still diner food though so nothing extravagant or fancy. The price was good too so when I'm in the mood for diner food again will be back to try more. read more

This is the second time we visited this place since we tried their Veggie omelette and Western omelette during the first time we were here. This place is busy during Sunday lunch. Serving Staff are very friendly and helpful. Nicely decorated and well lighted place where you can have breakfast, Lunch and dinner. They close at 8 pm. We didn't feel like cooking but we also didn't feel like getting all dressed up for a sit down restaurant and we also did not feel like going to eat a burger at McDonalds or something-- so-- the boyfriend and I ended up at a diner! A good old American classic-- and I would have thought so because of the old vintage decor and everything on the walls right? Wrong-- Norma's was missing the most quintessential diner items-- THE MILKSHAKE. We asked if they had all the separate ingredients, and they did, but then the server said that she could make a milkshake, she just didn't know what t he price would be. And it being Frisco, I didn't want to pay $15 for a milkshake....you never know these days..... The fried mushrooms were perfect. The bread for the table was cold and hard like hockey pucks. The chicken in the terazzini was dry, but the sauce and noodles are creamy delicious. The catfish was perfect. The sides were just ok. I feel the greens come from a can and the black eyed peas need bacon in it. The pies in the ase looked old especially the lemon merengue. I know we came in looking for a diner greasy spoon all American experience, but it didn't really hit. LOL??? 3 stars for the servers good attitude and the mushrooms and catfish. The rolls were stale and the dressing was barely edible. It appeared it was not mixed and was burnt. The ONLY thing that was wasn't awful were the mashed potatoes, pie and sweet teas. The ambience is nostalgic, it's clean, tables are a reasonable distance apart. We each ordered something different. The pot roast was good, the omelet good but the hash browns were very dry, the meat loaf was almost edible, and the desserts were all good. I went to Normas once off Dallas Tollway. Today was my first time in Frisco and my second visit to Normas overall. I got the breakfast burritos. They come with egg and sausage. I asked if they could put cheddar cheese on them and it was horrible. There was WAY too much cheese. I felt like I got a cheese burrito. I took one bite of solid cheese. I didn't even eat one of them. I just left. Also I wanted hash browns, like cubed potatoes and they don't serve them that way. Maybe it was just a one off. I might go again. My husband ordered the CBGB - come hungry if you order this** the portion was HUGE and heavy. Truly two people could share this dish. While my husband enjoyed it, from the few bites I took, I did not. Best part of this dish however was the chicken because it was cooked very well. I ordered the Belgian waffle, which is my typical go to at any breakfast/brunch spot, and some hash browns. The waffle was fairly over cooked, but the maple syrup they used at this restaurant really saved the waffle. The hash browns, also overcooked, needed a lot of spice love. I don't enjoy giving any restaurants low stars, however after interacting with their waiters/team and having the food, my honest review is that I may not come back. I had the Patty melt with Bacon, and it was delicious. I find that all of their food is very good, I have never had a bad meal there. The only issue I have is that their table condiments are not very good. They do not have butter. They have this 40% vegetable oil that taste very processed to me. The Pancake syrup is High Fructose Corn syrup and Corn syrup. The Ketchup which is Heinz also has High Fructose corn syrup in it. In Europe H High Fructose Corn syrup is band because it is viewed as Very bad for your health. It messes with your brain and makes you think you are always hungry. read more

If you love breakfast then Norma's is a great option compared to IHOP but with great pie options. They have huge pies of pie with piled high toppings. My favorite is the Lemon Meringue. We have been here a bit but realized i had forgotten to do a review. We did the Norma's favorite with is a solid breakfast with all the options. I went with the toast option but did t make the picture since they were a little late bringing it out. The season fresh strawberry French toast is very good since it was fresh strawberries as compared to the frozen strawberry options at other spots! Just left and horrible experience. I ordered well done omelet and hash browns. I received raw / runny omelet and hashbrowns with zero color. I am allergic to raw eggs and did not eat this nor did the server offer to correct. I will NEVER go back and recommend all stay away as the service is horrible. All the favorites that include batter are so so bland. There is absolutely no seasoning. None.
