I was literally raised in the hospitality industry for the first 27 years of my life. The general rule of hospitality is this: Make sure the customer leaves happier than when they arrived. This particular McAlister's location on Preston Road in Plano, TX accomplishes this, and the reason all comes down to a single person: Nicholas. More on that in a moment. First, the food is consistently good. When you order something, it comes as expected, and it comes quickly, usually within just a couple of minutes of sitting down. And as a particular callout, if you're into fruit cups (my wife is), whoever this location sources their fruit through has got it on lock. Everything else is good too, but fruit cups can be tricky. No complaints on the food, at all. As for the restaurant itself, it's always clean and usually has some pretty good tunes playing in the background. You can pick a hightop, lowtop, or booth - whatever mood you're in, they've got them. Other than that, I'd say that it could use a bit more "localization" with some Plano or TX artifacts to make it a bit more welcoming, but it's fine. Now, about the manager, Nicholas... I'd hire this guy if I could. He makes you feel welcome the moment he sees you. He came out from the kitchen when he saw us arrive, gave us a fist bump welcome, and personally took our order. I don't think my wife and I are all THAT memorable, but he sure made it seem like he remembered us like we were part owners of the place. You just don't get that kind of feeling from restaurants these days. When we left, he held the door open for us. I truly hope the crew he has working for him appreciates what he's doing because he's putting on a masterclass in hospitality when he's working. read more

I order take out from this deli occasionally on weekends. The quality is very hit or miss. The last time I took food home from the Preston Road location is was LITERALLY inedible. I had a half spud, which was not cooked through and gray, and a half sandwhich. The bread on the sandwich was burned on the outside and the inside was too mushy to eat due to so much mayonnaise. I had to throw it all out. The own needs to make an appearance and make some changes. There are too many other restaurants in the area and they can't continue this way. read more

Sandwich had a piece Plastic in it. Very Dangerous! Called the store and let them know, Manager said we can get a refund and another Sandwich. No Thank You! read more

Got to put in another vote for Nick. From the first day we saw him here he's been giving my partner and I laughs, and we have a whole bit going where he continues to be baffled (jokingly) that I order Coke instead of Dr Pepper or Sweet Tea. I gave him a friendship bracelet the last time we went, and he practically showered us in good service after that. If I'm missing pickles, he brings me 4 on a plate. If I'm contemplating cookies, he offers one for free to my partner. He's also offered my partner free arnold palmers before. McAlister's food is okay to above average, but we really keep coming because we live nearby and Nick ALWAYS recognizes us. Long live Nick! read more

Thank Heaven there are more McAlisters around the metroplex. Because, this one is a forgotten throwaway. Bet you a nickel your experience was much better than mine. Good luck with your visit to them. If yours is the best, use your voice! Let others know how wonderful your deli is! read more

Tried this location of McAlister out with my fiancé and mother in law. We all opted for the choose 2 option , half soup/salad and sandwich. The staff member at the register was kind and gave us time to decide to choose our options. I chose the potato soup and the half harvest chicken salad sandwich. I thought the sandwich and the sandwich were pretty good and will be definitely be back. read more

I love McAlister's. Since my husband started his diet couple of months ago, we've been frequenting this establishment. I'm a vegetarian, so I get veggie sandwich which is so delicious and I usually order potato salad or vegetarian Chili. I also love their Peach/Mango tea and they're so friendly! I go to one by N 75 and it's very spacious and bright. read more

Super fast service and easy to order ahead for pickup too. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! The food is consistent and good for a quick meal, takeout, friends/ family lunch and etc. I really enjoy their teas too! It's big, customizable, and refreshing. I recommend the peach mango tea, the lemonade with strawberry, the half and half tea, and or just the original tea with flavoring if you want. The sweet tea is pretty sweet so if you dont like too sweet then do half and half or unsweetened with ir without flavor! read more

King club sammich is amazing. The chicken caesar salad is decent. I get the combo usually with 1 half sammich and 1 half salad which is a good deal and worth the money. read more

We've been to several McAlister's and the food is consistently great, and this time was no exception. However, this review is more about the staff at this location. The manager, Nick, is such a ray of sunshine that we want to make this location a mainstay in our routine. He clearly takes pride of ownership of the restaurant and his role there and knows the menu back to back. More importantly, he's so authentically kind and bubbly, teasing the kids, making friendly banter, and even complimenting my handbag. I'm positive that people leave that place remembering how he made them feel, because we did! This location was bustling on a weekend afternoon and he was running back and forth between taking orders, checking on tables, and clearing the dining room, but he never seemed rushed. As a result, the place was tidy, and the rest of the staff seemed equally confident, friendly, and unstressed. Don't lose this guy, McAlister's! read more

Everything was great except for the moldy broccoli (I am a regular McAlister's customer and everyone that works here is awesome). I know broccoli isn't one of their staple items, but as someone that gets it once a week if you guys could make sure it's not moldy.. that would be appreciated! read more

Food is excellent here. We were so excited to find that there was a McAlisters in Frisco! We actually went 2 times in 2 weeks. The food was great each time and the employees were so nice. Only thing is the floors are sticky, and the second time we went, the ladies room was atrocious. We'll be back, so hoping that issue is resolved. read more

I have always loved McAlister's Deli and have enjoyed eating here across multiple cities and states. I always know wherever I go, I will always get the same great food I've come to love here. McAlister's has a wide variety of soups, sandwiches, salads, and we can't forget about their amazing huge spuds. I've been coming to this location for a couple of years now. The inside of the store is almost always clean, they also have lots of booths and separate tables to choose from. The food is great as usual, but the service has always been hit or miss. Some visits I get amazing staff. Other visits, I get staff who aren't helpful and who don't seem to care. On my most recent visit, the cashier refused to give me a receipt for my purchase because he said I was supposed to ask him for one before I paid. He said once I paid, my receipt disappears from his register and he can't retrieve it. I thought this sounded strange. But he told me if I wanted a receipt in the future that I have to ask before I pay. Anyhoo... I definitely recommend this location for a healthy, quick and delicious meal. You should definitely check this place out. read more

Love coming here with the kids for lunch. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it is all delicious. The sweet tea is a must! Kids meals are 2.99 and come with a entre and side, plus a cookie. You order at the counter and receive a number that is placed on the table then the food is brought out to you. At this location the trash is picked up after you leave. That helpful for when my kids are wanting to run around. read more

Great menu very broad. Good quality, food items and quick service. Clean environment.

I visited for lunch and walked into a lobby with 20-30 people waiting for food--no exaggeration. Despite ordering online and arriving at my scheduled pickup time, I waited an additional 40 minutes. In total, I spent nearly an hour waiting for just a club sandwich and a cookie. When I finally received my meal, it looked thrown together in a hurry. Given the high prices, neither the service nor the food quality was worth it. read more

I was working through my lunch and had to order from McAlister's for delivery. That where my coworker was going. I ordered the chicken and broccoli stuffed potato. The potato was so old. It was definitely a left over from yesterday. And it was stone cold. It was so over cooked that half of the potato stuck to the skin. I hadn't ordered from them in over 10 years bc I didn't like it then and I still don't like it now. Spend your money elsewhere. I will never go back. read more

Ordered via door dash from the pick two lunch menu. I ordered the avocado blt and loaded baked potato. Both came warm and in larrrrge portions. Great value here! I occasionally go here before work or doordash whenever I am sent to this area for work. Employees are always prompt and friendly; the food never takes too long to reach the table, either through doordash or in person, and the quality is always consistently good. The interior is like any McAlister's location, and overall, it is an excellent place for what it is! If you need a good place for a deli sandwich near Stonebriar this is a good place to go to! read more

Tonight my order was wrong, I ordered a Cobb salad and had a few substitutions and a different dressing. When we got it home, opened it up and there was no chicken, no black olives (I added) and I got a vinaigrette dressing instead of the Chipotle Ranch I ordered. The salad doesn't even come with this dressing, so I'm going to assume I probably got someone else's salad. My daughter's side of macaroni and cheese was more cheese the noodles and looked very soupy. I called their location to let them know, and my husband said it was not busy at all when he was there picking up the order... After I told the gentlemen who answered the phone what was wrong, he put me on hold, and after about 10 seconds hung up on me. I would understand if they were super busy, but they were not AND I was hung up on. read more

Very poor experience, ordered some food while visiting a friend in the hospital in the area and when I arrived to his room half of the food was missing. I placed a call to address the situation which the manager confirmed my food was left out of the bag. Manager unable to offer a viable resolution and showed very little care to fix mistake. Regional manager reached out and also did not seem to care about the situation enough to follow through with promise. If you are looking for a place to get a sandwich that won't mess up your order I would avoid McAllisters completely. read more

My friend & I met here for dinner yesterday. I ordered the Jalapeno Turkey Crunch sandwich with a side of broccoli. She got the same sandwich with a side of potato salad. Don't get me wrong, there were people coming in and out. More people should dine here. read more

McAlister's Deli - Jalapeno Turkey Crunch - Salad Near Me - Plano, Texas

HITS and MISSES... I always take advantage of the "Choose 2" option so that I can try more than one item without committing to just one entree. HITS: I got the jalapeño turkey crunch sandwich and the chips were perfectly crunchy while the avocado was delightfully creamy. My sweet tea was perfect! Sweet but not too sweet, just how I like it. My fiancé for the desert pear lemonade and it was delicious! MISSES: The service left a lot to be desired. The cashier seemed a little distracted and didn't really seem to want to be there. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup with my sandwich and it was disastrous. It tasted like a block of Velteeva cheese was melted into some chicken broth and not in a good way. The "chicken" pieces were rubbery and tasted like they came out of a can. All in all, I would come back for the food and drink (minus the chicken tortilla soup) and probably use the "mobile pick up" option. read more

Solid place if looking for a quick meal. Good portions and solid variety. I visit often. (B)

I've always loved McAlisters and it's always been really consistent everywhere. I usually get the same thing always. Choose 2 with a soup and sandwich plus a side of Mac n cheese. Well this location gave me soup in the regular container and my Mac n cheese in a condiment bowl. Significantly smaller than usual. When I asked my waitress why the small quantity, she said it's always one scoop, it's just in a different container. Even in this container though, it's not full. Usually the Mac n cheese is in the soup bowl and always at the brim. There is no way the quantity is the same. I am extremely disappointed and confused as to why they think this is the same portion size. Will not be coming back to this location and I definitely will be trying other McAlisters locations to see if anyone else is doing this. read more

It's ok, food seems fresh, employees are friendly. Our coleslaw side was so small, I thought someone had gotten coleslaw from their sandwich on the side or something. Literally 2 bites. Mac n cheese was ok, but one-noted in flavor. Sandwiches were a good size. For the price, there's a few other sandwich/deli places I'll go first before picking this one again. read more
