Hoped to get a decent bra today more cheaply than Nordstrom. Not much selection. I also wanted a inexpensive, lightweight, cute leather key fob. The Nordstrom Rack website showed two cute Kate Spade airtag fobs for $19.99 in stock (red heart or silver star) in this location, much cheaper than anything I was seeing listed at the Carlsbad Kate Spade or Coach outlets or even at Macy's. I couldn't find them at first in person (they're not with the purses and wallets). But there was almost no checkout line today - and the cashier knew exactly where the key chain/charms are. It's nylon and not leather in fact - but my new key fob is adorable and just what I wanted at a good price. This is such a busy location. Everyone is pretty knowledgeable and is very helpful and kind when ringing your items. As we entered to the left, the bags area had many designer items on sale. I could hear one employee tell a younger one to put the bling items a certain way at the Kate Spade section. The store last night appeared to be really a Clearance station. Unlike the branch in Hawaii, this one had items in disarray on the floor in some departments not conducive to a good shopping experience. This location offers a nice selection and is a little more organized than other Rack locations, but the dressing room is filthy with dust bunnies and hair all over the floor. They aren't alone in this issue...most dressing rooms aren't kept up very well, but I'd expect better from The Rack. ***Note to management*** We often have to take off our shoes when trying on clothes, please make the dressing room a clean experience. read more

I actually love coming to this Nordstrom Rack location because the inventory is amazing and the store is always clean and well organized. However, every time I come here, I unfortunately have an unpleasant experience with the same employee, Mahnaz A. On multiple occasions, separate visits, she has had a very poor attitude toward me and people that I come to this store with. She appeared visibly annoyed when customers asked questions, side-eyed my mom when she asked for help, and during another visit she aggressively threw my sister's items while ringing her up, even though my sister didn't say anything and was genuinely confused by the behavior. It's disappointing because shopping here is usually a great experience, and you never know what customers may be going through. A little kindness and professionalism would go a long way. read more

Beware that this shop is very much a "wild west" of product quality, and once you buy something, you are stuck with it. For example, I recently purchased a bag that quickly began to fray. When the zipper broke, it was still (theoretically) under manufacturer warranty, but the manufacturer website gave no contact information other than an email address that was totally unresponsive despite multiple attempts to get in touch. When I came back into the shop and asked to speak to the manager, she said that because the 30-day return policy had expired, there was nothing she could do. On that note, communicating with staff was also somewhat challenging: the manager seemed to have trouble understanding that I had already contacted the manufacturer, repeatedly insisting that I should "call or email" them, despite explaining quite clearly that I had already exhausted that option. Perhaps Nordstrom itself is better, but unfortunately, because this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth, I will not be shopping at either Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack in the future. read more

I think that there was a good selection of items and they had a nice array of clearance items. The people working there were also polite and helpful too. Located in La Jolla it's in a nice neighborhood, although parking was challenging especially for bigger vehicles. That's not Nordstrom Racks fault but the plazas problem however. read more

I'm a Nordstrom girl through and through. I almost exclusively buy my clothes at regular Nordstrom but sometimes take a chance at the rack. Some clothes are made for these stores and others were originally sold at Nordstrom. I know because I'm on the app so much. The worst thing about the rack is the customer service--but mostly the return policy. I tried to return a purse I bought two weeks ago here w the tag still on. They said it had make up on the bottom--it was a couple granules of sand. I don't keep a compact in my purse, and I couldn't return it. I also brought an unworn pair of sandals to return that they said they couldn't return because it did not have the tag on the sole of the shoe. It was more of a pain in the butt than anything because I then drove 2 miles to an actual Nordstrom, and they returned everything no questions asked without even looking in the bottom of the purse. All that to say, shop here. Get a deal, maybe, and if you ever need to return to a regular store. read more

If you dig really hard and have a lot of time to spend and love self service and like having to go into a dressing room with people of the opposite gender then this is the place for you. I have been to cleaner and just all around more decent discount stores such as TJ.Maxx and Marshall's where women and men get separate dressing rooms and everything is kept very nice in the stores. This is a Nordstrom rack in La Jolla UTC area and you would think that it would at least have the caliber of Marshall's across the street. But alas, it is woefully a mess. Yes, you can find some decent deals here but it is a horrendous shopping experience. When you think of Nordstrom, you think of high class.But all decency is thrown out the window when you're in a dressing room and you know how those dressing rooms are where the slats are wide enough to look through them...If you actually try... and you've got male voices all around you while you're changing it's just not right. Not the best Nordstrom Rack location. Selection is slim, quality of the dresses here is subpar. I wonder if this store just gets the worst stuff from Nordstrom that doesn't sell there... also paid parking? Ew no thank you. So I did end up finding a decent dress here that I ended up buying for a decent price. But that was after over an hour of looking through the racks of bad quality clothes. And yes there does seem to be a disproportionate amount of larger clothes in this store which probably made it harder for me to find what I needed since the sizes were all over the place. Not grouped together like they should be. Service is okay I guess. I didn't have any issues and the lady did say they don't do returns, which is fine since the dress I got was only $20. This is a pretty big store. Have alot of stuff on clearance but also alot of good products regular priced. One of the problems with this store is the racks are very over stuffed. You can't even push them to sort through and look at stuff. Everything is hooked onto everything else. On top of that empty hangers are entangled onto other clothes. Like how can you even look at so many clothes on very small clothing racks? For such a big selection of stuff you'd think they'd have bigger racks like ross or target. It's just hard to want to stift through the racks when it's a mess. So more people are cramped into one space. I gave up after 10 minutes of looking. Plus the line ends up being really long. Isn't a really fun experience if you look at it from that angle. read more

Selection of items good... saw different styles and different brands representing variety. But some of the sizes seemed off... like Small looked like Medium, or a Large a medium? Maybe it was just me...There was some value, but some of the pricing still didn't seem to be that great as I have seen at other Racks. Not so crowded, which was different from the Block location. When you thought if a location is in La Jolla area, the stuffs they carry would be high end and amazing, well not in this case, I was hoping to find some True Religion items like they showed on the website, but after exploring the store, I couldn't find any, the staffs weren't around at the time, I had to go up front and asked for help, but they directed me to the same spots I already gone, anyway Nordstrom Rack is basically a downside of regular Nordstrom, and if you thought you could find any good clearance here, good luck with that; even with the discount the price still amazingly high, for some of the brand like Birkenstock, same pair I've been seeing at Ross for $9 tops, here they sell it for $30 no reason to buy it here if you care for Birkenstock. A lot of brands I never heard of especially for backpacks and luggages, I'm unsure if I wanted to pay $70 plus for a backpack that I could use the same money and spend over 5 items and maybe a backpack somewhere else, I understand that i could be the brand that associated with or maybe just the high end materials, but I definitely has second thought about buying, I am not in the fashion world, but I guess I know how to use my money when it is really needed, and well La Jolla location has a lot of clothings, but none were my size, I thought celebrities would wear small size like 28 waist pants and small size shirts, not here, it reminded me of my time going to Marshall in the East Coast, most of the size were big and tall, I just couldn't shop here because of the shortage of what they have available. read more

Great place to stop when you're looking for nice quality items at a discount. I come here to look for wedding guest dresses and formal wear for events. My most recent trip I also purchased sunglasses and some button downs for my boyfriend. There is usually quite a good selection of styles snd sizes, but you do have to spend some time looking though everything. The store is usually crowded, so be prepared to wait a few minutes in the check out line. read more

I specifically writing this review as a nod to the PM manager in Sunday night that was responding to my frantic mess. I lost my hat here a week ago, the hat might seems unsuspectingly worthless, but it has sentimental value, on which I cant share here. I came to the store a week after I received a voice mail stating that they have found my hat the same day I lost it. Unbeknownst to me, they donate all lost and found in the end of the month. The manager was kind enough to empathize and settle the value of my hat. Well, the good news is, at least somebody will have use of that hat. Nordstrom's has some decent sales. This place is a bit crowded and now has paid parking. It was much easier to navigate 10 years ago. Unfortunately, one of the blouses I was gonna buy had a button that needed to be sewn back kn. She refused to give me a discount but said she could ask the seamstress to take an hour of my time to see it back on, if she was in. If merchandise is damaged, I believe that item should be discounted. It's only right. Bad customer service. read more

Cashier scanned the first item and then said they couldn't accept the returns at Nordstrom Rack and that I had to go the a Nordstrom store! This is not true! I don't shop at Nordstrom Rack often, but after my last visit, maybe I should! There are so many good deals to be found and they offer a lot more than I expected. Not only do they have clothes, shoes, purses, fragrances, accessories, but they also have a small selection of home goods, luggage, and even children's toys. You do have to search through the racks to find some good deals, but it really isn't too hard to find them. It's more organized than some other discount retailers and though no one asked me if I needed help with anything, I really don't expect that at Nordstrom Rack. In my last visit, I went on a Saturday morning and was looking for specific items for my husband. I was able to find these items without any issue and checkout was fairly quick. They actually sanitized between checking out customers, so I appreciated that. They also offer hand sanitizer in the store. read more

The selection is very good for both men's and women's so this location will keep you occupied for quite a while. I had the worst experience in this location. The cashier was very rude and was yelling at me. She denied my return because there's no tag and she accused me of having worn the shoes. I demanded to see the manager. The manager take one look of the shoes and she approved the return with no question. I think she needs to be fired for treating a VIP customer with such rudeness. I stopped in the Rack to see if they had some casual shoes to my liking and perhaps a few short sleeve button down shirts. I was able to find a shirt but the rest were not available in my size, to small, or they just were not very nice. As for the shoes, they had a hodgepodge of shoes and I would appreciate it if they would spend a little time organizing them. Anyways, I was able to find anything to my liking or that fit well with my wide feet, so I passed, the shirt I picked up was very nice and cost me $34.95. I came to the La Jolla Nordstrom Rack one recent Wednesday evening in search of a pair of loafers, and lo and behold...I FOUND THEM! Well, I found one of them. Adorable Rag and Bone soft white leather with the perfect little half inch black heel. They were EXACTLY what I was looking for. Yay!! It was fate. We were obviously meant to be together forever. (Or until some fashion blogger decides loafers aren't in style anymore) I tried on the right loafer and it fit perfectly! I reached for the left shoe but...but...it was not there. Where's the left loafer!?? It was MIA. Gone. I looked to the left, nope. I looked to the right, noooope. It must be around here somewhere. I searched for nearly hour up and down size 8 isle. Size 8.5 isle. Size 9 isle. This damn shoe was on a long ass field trip, all alone. Defeated, I finally asked for help from an amazing employee named Jordan. Together we were a search party! Four eyes were better than two, or so I hoped. Jordan helped me search for another hour and a half. Did you hear me? NINETY freaking MINUTES Jordan helped me search for the missing loafer. We walked the isles together. We walked the isles separately. Jordan searched in mens. In kids. Jordan went into the back to see if they could located the missing loafer. Nada. I was just about to give up hope when...what did I see before my eyes...!? The missing loafer! I blinked twice to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Seriously, this damn shoe was at eye level in women's size 8! How the heck did we both miss it for the past two hours l? I have no idea. I yelled "Jordan! JORDAN!! Did you put the shoe back out on the floor?" They yelled back from women's size 10 "no, it's in the back with the other singles" EXCITEDLY i responded "I found it! I found the missing loafer!" Jordan ran to me and we hugged and we celebrated and they told me they were so happy and I told them I will think of them each time I wear the damn loafers and then we took a selfie together so Jordan could show their dad and we almost cried tears of joy and I thank Jordan profusely for all of their help and off I went to pay for my new shoes happy as a clam with my new Rag and Bone white leather loafers in size 39 that are sold out in stores and online. Phew, that was a long sentence. But seriously. If you happen to find sweet Jordan in the shoe department at the La Jolla Nordstrom Rack give them a high five and remember to be kind to the employees that work hard to make you happy. This one is a gem of a human and deserves only goodness and love. I hope Jordan's manager sees this review and gives Jordan a BIG FAT raise. Thank you Jordan. This is the newest Rack in San Diego. It was built from ground up so you know the location has to be pretty new and pristine. Parking has never been an issue the both times I've visited. They share the same parking lot as BJ's Pizza. Shopping carts were plentiful and located at the very front. I don't like the set up of this new location. You walk in and there's no clear direction of where things are. The building looks and feels smaller for some reason. There aren't mess piles or clutter though. I personally don't think they lay out is visually appealing. The women's shoes are to the right and the men's shoes are to the far right corner of the store. I went during Xmas to buy some shoes but left after 30 min because the store was too busy and there's no one to help. We recently returned because friend wanted to buy some new shoes. He bought some cool Puma sneakers from the Carmel Mountain Rack location just last year so we were hoping the Rack in LJ would have a decent selection of men's sneakers. We were surprised that he found three pairs of Puma sneakers in his size. All were in boxes and it was easy for him to try them all on (the men's shoe department isn't nearly as cluster as the women's shoe dept). Check out was easy that day (lucky him) as there was barely a line at the cashiers. We didn't see many 'green t shirted' reps that day (remember they can help you check out too). You can still earn Nordstrom's Rewards here so that's always a plus. read more

Stopped here as my last resort for a company cocktail party. They have a really good stock here for last minute dresses of any kind. Everything was quite clean for a Nordstrom's Rack and the fitting rooms looked good too. The employees were really sweet and kind, but looked and acted like they absolutely hated their life. I feel like maybe the clientele here is really hard to deal with? Or maybe management isn't the best?
